  1. Wow ! Thank you all very much for this award . It really does mean a lot to me . I'm particularly honoured because I haven't been as active recently as I'd like to be due to a wicked bout of anxiety and depression . Happily I'm over it now but this has given me a tremendous and most welcome boost . Something that really sustained me during this horrible year was reading all your astonishingly honest responses to my " How are you feeling " post . So thank you to everyone who contributed and I hope you all got as much out of it as I did . Have a great Christmas and thank you all once again .

  2. Now that the ER5 is almost finished I find myself without a project . Until now . I've just been given some work to do on someone else's 1966 Triumph 3TA ! The bike is nearly complete but it just needs the top end and carburettor fitting plus a lot of fettling . This picture is not the actual bike but it's close to the pictures I've seen of it so far . This should be a lot of fun and I get paid for doing it .

  3. So after 12 years of not being on a bike due to a prolapsed disc in my neck, on Sunday 22nd Nov, we took my new bike for a ride. I've bought myself a MT Rapide carbon fibre helmet, which is incredibly lightweight as well as the GT750. Fil (my better half) followed on his Triumph Tiger 1200 & we managed 93 miles around Herefordshire and Worcestershire, with a couple of stops. Cold day, but good to be back. Took a couple of photos as below. Need to clean the GT, which isn't one of my strengths...maybe wheel her out of the garage tomorrow & get the mud off...

  5. YESTERDAY EVENING I WAS AHEAD IN THE POLLS, BUT OVERNIGHT EXTRA VOTES HAVE BEEN FOUND FOR @fastbob! ONLY FOUR MEMBERS HAVE VOTED FOR ME OUT OF 6,653? GET REAL!!! I HAVE MANY TREMENDOUS, BEAUTIFUL MESSAGES FROM THOUSANDS OF MEMBERS WHO SAY THEY VOTED FOR ME, BUT THEIR VOTES HAVEN’T BEEN COUNTED. SO MUCH CORRUPTION AT THE FAILING MOTORBIKE FORUM. THEY ARE GAMMONS AND PERVERTS. SOME, I ASSUME, ARE GOOD PEOPLE, BUT MOST OF THEM ARE BAD HOMBRES. THIS PHONY POLL IS DESIGNED TO MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A LOSER WHEN I HAVE ALREADY WON BIG LEAGUE!!! I AM WINNING TWICE – I AM ALSO WINNI

  7. No.4 grandchild arrived this morning finally at 0122. So for our family at least this dismal year ends on a high note! Here's hoping that everyone else's 2021 is better too.

  8. Passed my mod 2 at Gateshead today despite it feeling like the worst ride since starting lessons! Got the bike insured and booked in for it’s mot tomorrow so fingers crossed it passes! Then I’m planning a few small journeys around the local area just to get used to it as it’s a sports tourer and I’ve been learning on a mt07 hopefully I’ll see some of you out and about in the future!

I opened it with some trepidation only to find a 2020 MacBook Air with the new M1 chip. with 3 years insurance. Happy days are here again. this is much better than using my phone!!! Ive never owned a laptop before.. so its taking some getting used to.

  17. We have a little old biddy living next-door, she has family living near ish but they appear to be as practical as a stick. Her husband died from a stroke and aneurysm that was brought on by a theft from his car, they smashed windows while he was sat at lights, they got next to nothing and we're never caught. I have done the odd few things, replaced fence panels and posts when they blew down and snapped. Fixed boiler, given her numbers for folk that won't rip her off etc. Seeing as I've been fairly busy outside over the hols and most of it involv

  18. It still sticks in my mind what the instructor taught me when I did my CBT at 19. Before we had even got to touch a bike she had us all squat down and run the back of our hand across the car park ground. When we stood up she simply said something like " now imagine doing that at 40mph, that's why you wear safety gear"

  19. Anyone else taken up this challenge? I started unintentionally in August when OH and me began a weight loss and walking regime and kind of went from there. I lost 5kg fairly easily, just cutting out the chocs and crisps etc and aiming for one good walk and several shorter walks in a week. This progressed into me starting to run, which was about 100m at first before my calves began to hurt but this morning was my first 5km run in just under 37mins. Really pleased with this, last time i ran any distance was at school in 1980.

  21. I'm helping my dad sat, he has made some new gates for his rear garden entrance, they are a bit heavy for him to hang on his own so he wants a hand, he is 90 so he's not done too bad making them, sorting the posts and welding the brackets up.

  27. Ok , I've laid out all the parts and nothing appears to be missing . I've been provided with a full gasket set which is good . The thing that you always have to ask yourself about unfinished projects is why were they started and never completed in the first place ? And I think I have the answer already . The valve guides are sloppy as f**k . So I think I've got a bit of reading up to do before I knock in some new ones . On a personal note , this project has fallen into my lap at exactly the right moment as far as my mental well-being is concerned . I'm six weeks into my mild antidepressants no

  28. Managed to extract a couple of stills but the quality is not great. Road was very unexciting M4 but weather made it a bit more interesting. I can claim individualism on the basis nobody else was daft enough to be out on a bike.

  30. Since when was it the governments fault people have carried on as if nothing is happening? Please forgive me but I don't need the government to wipe my arse for me so why does the rest of the country need that? Or is it just to point the blame at someone. It's china's fault we have this virus it's the general publics fault the UK is screwed.

  33. I commented on this over on the Triumph Forum, which if I'm honest I knew I should have just left when I decided that I didn't really like the place. Anyway, I posted a comment saying that the little scrotes were clearly scum but that I still didn't agree that vigilante killings were an acceptable form of punishment for theft. I was rounded upon immediately, the most popular response to my post being the one that called me a "limp-wristed, poncey, noncey weasel".

  35. Hi all! So I passed the CBT on Tuesday and the weather has been awful since then so I decided to stay warm and dry inside. This morning didn't seem awful so I decided to venture out to the very exciting first destination of... The petrol station! Whoo! So everything went pretty well, new bike so checked everything worked before setting off then headed out, I was nervous at first as it was wet and cold but really soon things fell into place. Had trouble putting the fuel cap back on (why so fiddly?!), Stalled once but a very nice driver was patient, and beepe

  37. Aww, thanks man - I appreciate the kind words. But seriously, I'm not in the same league as people with the knowledge to contribute genuinely useful bike-related stuff on here: most of what I post is just light weight piffle to make people smile, usually written as displacement activity when I'm struggling to motivate myself at work! And I fear you're overstating any 'bravery' on my part for sharing my childhood story. To be honest, it was actually quite an interesting experience to write it down and launch it into the ether, because I can count the number of times I've shared it ov

  44. This is Canales! And it's a difficult one to call......because it's not an abandoned village in the strictest sense of the word. However......I've been there many times over the years and never seen a soul. And during that time more and more properties have been abandoned and left to crumble. It really is Omega Man territory out here.....because there's nobody to be seen, the buildings seem to be devastated........and all the while a Pandemic rages amongst the general population. To make it even more startling, it's alleged that somewhere out in the remote areas around this plac
