Model: CBF600SA8

How much: Price was £3195 but I actually Exchanged a Kawasaki Vulcan VN900. Worth 4k approx.but with balding tyres and needing an MOT.

Good points: Handles beautifully compared to the Vulcan. Motor is of course very smooth cf: Vulcan.

Practical bungee points, half fairing protection with modern features like fuel gauge, headlight flasher and hazard warning lights. ABS combined brakes feel very secure in damp conditions. Good smooth fueling, 6 gears, light easy clutch and gear change, some underseat storage. Low adjustable seat height compared to some comparable bikes. Quite rapid and secure on the road. Economical, I've just done my first Fuelly check and it's returned 64mpg in gentle, mostly town riding.

Bad points: Needs a taller/adjustable screen to eliminate buffeting. A bit flat below 3000rpm, which is expected of a 600 four. If panniers are fitted or heavy loads are put in the topbox, the 'bars can wag a bit on deceleraion, when hands off. (but ok when riding normally)

Would I buy another?: Yes. This is my second CBF already. They're great sporty practical everyday bikes.

Nice bike. I have the 1000 and love it. Didn't love the stator going and then finding out that it's almost inevitable for the mk1 cbf1000 at least. But that excepted, it's a fine, utilitarian motorcycle

Biffer I nearly bought a thousand but the mpg figures put me off (being a bit of a Greta fan).

The 600 does about 55 the way I ride it and can return over 60mpg.

At constant speed on a motorway I had over 72mpg from a ZZR600R I used to have.
