Nothing to do with grammar it was spelling and not knowing the difference between being cautious and being tired two very different words and meanings.

I have to ask were/are you a teacher or examiner of some kind?

I would be impressed if you could speak Portuguese was as well I can speak English.

Nevertheless, I don't take offense when people correct my sentences, the way I see it, is just a way to improve my skills :booty:

Thing is @husoi is it does put some people off contributing. Makes them feel intellectually inferior which spelling and grammar is no indication of. So is Portuguese your first language?

It just reminded me of the time I wrote a note for my son and used the wrong ‘your’

The next day the teacher came running out of the classroom after me with a sheet in her hand. She explained I’d used your rather than you’re (I do that a lot), why it was wrong then handed me the piece of paper.. which was a ‘fill in the gaps’ homework sheet on the different uses for you/your/you’re.

I looked at her assuming it was a joke to see a dead serious face who was seriously concerned my absent minded use of the wrong ‘your’ might tip humanity into further chaos. I failed contain my laughter at this poor woman’s priorities, she desperately wanted to know what was so funny so I simply said “I know the difference but normal people don’t care”

Oh man I felt bad, her little face crumpled inward, she really thought it was that important and she was doing me a huge favour.

I took the sheet, saw her the next day and said I’d had a look at the sheet and thought it was very good. She was very happy, I guess some people’s world orbit around the little things. 🤣😂🤣😂

I have several friends whos first language is not English and they welcome corrections to improve their English. Each to their own.

Yes @Slowlycatchymonkey I'm a proud Portuguese

The thing is, I couldn't care less what other people think of me and of my opinion.

I'm a strong believer that my opinion is highly personal and is only relevant to me. Just because I say what I think doesn't mean it becomes a law. While some take offense when others have a different point of view I couldn't care less and accept differences as natural.

Regarding correcting my spelling and or grammar. I have no problem with it and isn't the first time and for sure won't be the last. As I said, it helps me to improve my control of the language :thumb:

In that case it’s “...improve my understanding of the language” not control.

Happy to help 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Very good, gold star. Just drop the ‘a’ from “I’ll have a better control” and then it’s top marks 😜

I installed Grammarly on my imac as I often had issues with grammar on my business page. But on another forum that was really full of odd miserable people as soon as you bit at their comments, grammar was their only tool for come backs.

Then I noticed on lots of other posts they would correct grammar all the time. To the point it was more like an English forum then a bike one.

So, although at times offering some help seems a good idea, I think it can be patronising. There will be people who struggle with it and may limit posts in fear of being picked on. And no, I don't think they would feel they're being helped by correcting them.

Just my opinion of course.
