  3. Well its now official I am the owner of an R1200RT Pick it up on Tuesday I went to look at it yesterday and put a deposit down pending a test ride today and comparing it to the FJR its so much better in everyway! It feels lighter despite being heavier it handles effortlessly and soaks up the crap roads as if you are floating on a carpet! As a result I had to have it

  6. I'm on my way back from Scotland now . I had beautiful weather for five days with little more than a sprinkling of rain .I went up as far as Lochinver by the long route . The Harley took everything in its stride including the Applecross Pass .I'll do a full report when I get back .

  7. Wow ! Thank you all very much for this award . It really does mean a lot to me . I'm particularly honoured because I haven't been as active recently as I'd like to be due to a wicked bout of anxiety and depression . Happily I'm over it now but this has given me a tremendous and most welcome boost . Something that really sustained me during this horrible year was reading all your astonishingly honest responses to my " How are you feeling " post . So thank you to everyone who contributed and I hope you all got as much out of it as I did . Have a great Christmas and thank you all once again .

  10. Rumour has it that Kawasaki and Yamaha are closing many of their plants due to declining bike sales. Apparently, the Baby-Boomers all have motorcycles, and Generation X is only buying a very few, and the next generation, the Millennials, aren’t buying any at all. A recent study was conducted to find out why. Here are the reasons why Millennials don't ride motorcycles and why sales are down: 1. Pants won't pull up far enough for them to straddle the seat. 2. Can't get their phone to their ear with a helmet on. 3. Can't use 2 hands to eat while driving. 4. They don't get a trophy and a recognition plaque just for buying one. 5. Don't have enough muscle to hold the bike up when stopped. 6 Might have a bug hit them in the face and then they would need emergency care. 7. Motorcycles don't have air conditioning. 8. They can't afford one because they spent 12 years in college trying to get a degree in Humanities, Social Studies or Gender Studies for which no jobs are available. 9. They are allergic to fresh air. 10. Their pyjamas get caught on the exhaust pipes. 11. They might get their hands dirty checking the oil. 12. The handle bars have buttons and levers and cannot be controlled by touch-screen. 13. You have to shift manually and use something called a clutch. 14. It's too hard to take selfies while riding. 15. They don't come with training wheels like their bicycles did. 16. Motorcycles don't have power steering or power brakes. 17. Their nose ring interferes with the face shield. 18. They would have to use leg muscle to back up. 19. When they stop, a light breeze might blow exhaust in their face. 20 It could rain on them and expose them to non-soft water. 21. It might scare their therapy dog, and then the dog would need therapy. 22. Their man bun won’t fit under a helmet.

  11. Now that the ER5 is almost finished I find myself without a project . Until now . I've just been given some work to do on someone else's 1966 Triumph 3TA ! The bike is nearly complete but it just needs the top end and carburettor fitting plus a lot of fettling . This picture is not the actual bike but it's close to the pictures I've seen of it so far . This should be a lot of fun and I get paid for doing it .

  12. As I passed my mod 2 this morning I taxed and insured the ER5 that's been stuck in the garage for a year and took it for spin! ... I like it!

  15. There is an outcome to this. I have been very lucky and although given enough points in court for a ban I have been allowed to keep my licence because of my work role and the impact upon others if I could not drive for it. I am very fortunate and the court were very reasonable in their response including the fines and costs levied.

  16. So after 12 years of not being on a bike due to a prolapsed disc in my neck, on Sunday 22nd Nov, we took my new bike for a ride. I've bought myself a MT Rapide carbon fibre helmet, which is incredibly lightweight as well as the GT750. Fil (my better half) followed on his Triumph Tiger 1200 & we managed 93 miles around Herefordshire and Worcestershire, with a couple of stops. Cold day, but good to be back. Took a couple of photos as below. Need to clean the GT, which isn't one of my strengths...maybe wheel her out of the garage tomorrow & get the mud off...

  17. OK, a couple of months ago I decided to give up off road riding. I sold my off roaders (one really good one and an old nail of a bike), plus a load of parts for it and my off road gear. Afterwards I said to the wife "the garage looks empty" So I decided to have a look around for a bike I could have a bit of fun on. I have my Tracer, which is my work horse, but I wanted something a bit sportier, something I missed after getting rid of my MT10. After much looking, and much deliberation, I found a 2016 BMW S1000RR and absolutely love it! Took it out on two test rides, read a shit load of online reviews, it's only done just under 6k miles, totally immaculate and the price was right. The ride and handling on this bike is absolutely outstanding. So, I'm now looking forward to Saturday when I pick it up. Got that "I'm getting a new bike" feeling again, yet again I find myself wishing my life away wanting Saturday to be hear quicker.....I'll post pictures when I get it and do a review once I've had it for a few months so I can make the review meaningful.

  18. I chopped in my old gsxr 600 for a new Yamaha Tracer 700, rode up to Chorley on the suzuki and back on the tracer, 440 miles all in! First impressions are good, plenty of torque, although it's going to take a while to get used to a twin after an inline four. Looking forward to putting some more miles on it this summer

  20. Hi Guys Please indulge me it has been a long time coming but today I was finally able to reunite all 3 of my road going girls in one place. Due to a change in personal circumstances I have waited over a year to be able to take these pics and I am like a little kid at xmas. Apart from a slightly flat battery and the Suzuki needing a jump they all run beautifully ! Cheer Ian

  25. YESTERDAY EVENING I WAS AHEAD IN THE POLLS, BUT OVERNIGHT EXTRA VOTES HAVE BEEN FOUND FOR @fastbob! ONLY FOUR MEMBERS HAVE VOTED FOR ME OUT OF 6,653? GET REAL!!! I HAVE MANY TREMENDOUS, BEAUTIFUL MESSAGES FROM THOUSANDS OF MEMBERS WHO SAY THEY VOTED FOR ME, BUT THEIR VOTES HAVEN’T BEEN COUNTED. SO MUCH CORRUPTION AT THE FAILING MOTORBIKE FORUM. THEY ARE GAMMONS AND PERVERTS. SOME, I ASSUME, ARE GOOD PEOPLE, BUT MOST OF THEM ARE BAD HOMBRES. THIS PHONY POLL IS DESIGNED TO MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A LOSER WHEN I HAVE ALREADY WON BIG LEAGUE!!! I AM WINNING TWICE – I AM ALSO WINNING TOTY AND I’M NOT EVEN ON THE BALLOT. NOBODY WINS AS MUCH AS I DO, BELIEVE ME. NOBODY HAS EVER WON ANYTHING TWICE – MANY PEOPLE TELL ME IT’S LIKE A KIND OF MIRACLE. STOP THE STEAL AND CONTRIBUTE TO MY OFFICIAL ‘ELECTION DEFENCE FUND’. MY PRESS SECRETARY IS NOW GOING TO SAY A FEW WORDS…

  26. Our craft room/ garage is nearly finished and is now usable. It's been going on for years we had to take the roof off and the builders shafted us for thousands but it's eventually dry and has electricity. Still needs finishing off inside.

  34. Just saw this on Facebook and thought it was worth sharing here. Made me laugh at least Ordering a Pizza in 2021 CALLER: Is this Pizza Hut? GOOGLE: No sir, it's Google Pizza. CALLER: I must have dialed a wrong number, sorry. GOOGLE: No sir, Google bought Pizza Hut last month. CALLER: OK. I would like to order a pizza. GOOGLE: Do you want your usual, sir? CALLER: My usual? You know me? GOOGLE: According to our caller ID data sheet, the last 12 times you called you ordered an extra-large pizza with three cheeses, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and meatballs on a thick crust. CALLER: Super! That’s what I’ll have. GOOGLE: May I suggest that this time you order a pizza with ricotta, arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and olives on a whole wheat gluten-free thin crust? CALLER: What? I don’t want a vegetarian pizza! GOOGLE: Your cholesterol is not good, sir. CALLER: How the hell do you know that? GOOGLE: Well, we cross-referenced your home phone number with your medical records. We have the result of your blood tests for the last 7 years. CALLER: Okay, but I do not want your rotten vegetarian pizza! I already take medication for my cholesterol. GOOGLE: Excuse me sir, but you have not taken your medication regularly. According to our database, you purchased only a box of 30 cholesterol tablets once at CVS Pharmacy, 4 months ago. CALLER: I bought more from another Pharmacy. GOOGLE: That doesn’t show on your credit card statement. CALLER: I paid in cash. GOOGLE: But you did not withdraw enough cash according to your bank statement. CALLER: I have other sources of cash. GOOGLE: That doesn’t show on your latest tax returns, unless you bought them using an undeclared income source, which is against the law! CALLER: WHAT THE HELL! GOOGLE: I'm sorry sir, we use such information only with the sole intention of helping you. CALLER: Enough already! I'm sick to death of Google, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and all the others. I'm going to an island without the internet, TV, where there is no phone service and no one to watch me or spy on me. GOOGLE: I understand sir, but you need to renew your passport first. It expired 6 weeks ago... Welcome to the future!!!

Then I’m planning a few small journeys around the local area just to get used to it as it’s a sports tourer and I’ve been learning on a mt07 hopefully I’ll see some of you out and about in the future!

  38. PART TWO ... Putting the angry wee man behind me , I made my way down into Applecross . This road is longer and more scenic than the Bealach Na Ba with amazing views of the Isle of Skye across the water. Cup of tea at Applecross then onwards round the coast to Sheildaig .I was planning to stay at the free campsite there but it has been totally transformed into a posh fee paying site for camper vans . No worries , it was a beautiful evening so I carried on up to Gairloch . Nothing doing at the Sands campsite , totally packed out with seemingly hundreds of camper vans . Ok , onwards again . Up to Torridon , through the glorious Glen Torridon to Kinlochewe where thankfully the petrol station is now automated . Onwards a bit more to Poolewe . Poolewe is at the corner of the vast sea loch of Loch Ewe . In the last war this is where hundreds of merchant ships and escorting naval vessels assembled before setting out as arctic convoys to Russia . Time for reflection on the bravery of the hundreds of ordinary men who set out into the unknown with extraordinary determination many of whom never returned . There are still lots of concrete gun emplacements and observation posts dotted around the coast . It was getting late now with the makings of a beautiful sunset so I headed off down the southern shore of the loch and finally found an amazing camping spot . A lovely piece of bouncy ground next to a concrete pill box that even had a hard standing for the bike . A peaceful nights sleep and in the morning I was awakened by the heat of the sun on the tent . A nice coffee made from stream water while sitting on top of the pill box and watching a little boat dropping lobster pots far down below . Off again back to Poolewe for some breakfast . Sitting in a little park that overlooks the torrent where the River Ewe meets the sea , I observed that someone with a modicum of artistic talent had drawn a cock on the back of the bus shelter . It's nice to know that I'm not the only person from Coventry to have visited this pretty village . Up the coast along stunning roads to Ullapool . Ate a massive portion of the finest fish and chips from the Seaforth restaurant . Next , I headed north out of Ullapool past the site of my catastrophic crash of nearly twenty years ago . The vegetation has all changed now so I'm never able to decide exactly where or how it happened but the place still gives me an uneasy feeling . To be continued ...

  39. A nice long run today to the Norfolk HD Club Sportster day . I took the A14 which is one of the most boring roads imaginable so I came back on the A47 for the sake of variety . Not too many Sportsters there but it was a very pleasant afternoon . I even won a rosette for the exceptional condition of my bike .

  41. Flushed with success regarding the bandit fairing paint I got on with the "scrap" genuine Bandit mirrors I bought from eBay fora a tenner to see if i can make a good set and get some practice with plastic paint before i get the scuffs out of my bandit one after the fall over. Instead of the usual waffle and pic feat I will say they were sanded down, filled, sanded again, body putty, sanded, plastic primed, 4 light coats of U-Pol satin black and finally 2 coats of satin clear. Here are the before and after for the left mirror, the right one's clear is still hardening as i had to sand down again to get ride of a few dust blobs. Can out really good. I wanted to keep it looking plastic satin as much as possible. Just the to rubbers to silicone polish now and will pop them on the Bandit and see how they last this year.
