  1. Wow...she is beautiful!
  2. My neighbours were relieved when I got rid of my 125 and now start a quieter 750 And we get woken by their screaming baby so not much they can now say!
  3. Hopefully this works. Mine in the showroom, then out last week with the Honda group...
  4. Relax relax relax. That's all you can do. Go in wound up and panicking won't help. Accidents happen, just remember why you wanted to ride, and how good you felt when it was going right. Hopefully ten minutes in and you will be grinning like a loon and be fine. Keeping my fingers crossed for you, good luck and enjoy it.
  5. Ha ha, I bought mine about 6 weeks before my test. Just had to have it waiting for me when I passed. I was popping about on a Vespa LX125 and doing the bike training under the guise of "I need more road training, I will be safer". God it hurt getting off that 650 onto the 125 to go home.. but it was great being rid of L's. Patience paid off, hello proper bike!
  6. Most of us have done it.... Guilty of putting mine on full lock and also being short of leg it lurched right and went down. I tried to hold it, buts its three times my body weight, so slipped a disc in the process the process. But no mark on the bike Hardest bit was telling the husband, it was only three days old. Found out a month later that the wheel alignment had been seriously out which was why it kept lurching right. Still terrified of tight right turns, but getting better.
  7. It's on the shopping list when I change bikes, they are lovely! Don't know how you hung on without a bike. I was straight out shopping when I passed my test. Enjoy!
  8. I just use disc locks. I have a heavy duty chain to go around the back wheel and through the chain if at I am in an area I am unsure of, or if a I am leaving it overnight. Sadly, if they want to take it, they will regardless of what you secure it with. New Hondas come with Datatag. The Dealer wouldn't put the tamperproof labels on the bike. When I asked why, "owners don't like them". It goes on the framework under the handlebars and is only visible when steering is on full lock. This owner would rather have the warning label on there then find the bike down the road ditched when they saw the UV etchings on every panel... They are usually after high value bikes, apparently Vespa GTS300 are the most nicked in London. Who are you doing your CBT with? I notice you are in Farnbrorough where I did my CBT and Das
  9. Congrats! It's coming up for a year since at did my DAS. I look at my car but reach for my bike keys. I can't bear the thought of not having two wheels.... I should have done it years ago! Stay shiny side up!
  10. My insurance was £150 for my 125 Vespa then jumped to £570 for the 750 as .I had t had the. Esparza a year do list eight months NCB. But then my car is no longer doing 16,000 miles, the bike is now doing it. Kind of levels out. And £10 petrol a week for a 250mile commute vs £47 a week in the car, still quids in. Then the free parking... kerching! Whatever you do, enjoy it!
  11. I wear Oxford black motorbike boots. Seven months waterproof, and no one notices at work if I leave them on under my suit, or jeans if we go out Held black motorbike jacket also goes with suit or jeans, the red Spada winter coat...not so much. But it's warm and matches my bike. Still trying to find waterproof armoured trousers, my bullit jeans are best, but have to make do with waterproof trousers over my winter trousers, cheaper to replace! Be careful out there!
  12. Given your age it may be worth doing your CBT, tootling on a 125 (leave it at uni in the hols, stop aggro from family!) then do the full licence after your 25th given your financial position, that might work out best. Plus you will know if you like it rather than fork out and decide you can't get on with the gears. You have to do the CBT any way! I started with CBT on a Vespa, got fed up with the L plate and wanted a larger bike. Had a trial on a geared bike and was fine so went for DAS when I costed up the a2, it was pointed out to me I should just do the full licence given my age(30+). Seems you pay twice by doing the a2 then the full licence, and you have to redo the tests you did at a2. Still gaining experience out there on a CBT... I went for a 125 to a 750
  13. Yay in passing! And get that DAS booked so that will be the last time you do the figure of 8. That was my excuse for doing It and within a week I had got shot of the 125 scooter and now have (too much) fun on a 750 . Really good investment, teaches you so much road safety more than they can fit in on a CBT, and after 15years of a car licence with o accidents I still think it makes me a better driver and more aware.
  14. Whoa... I had five full day training sessions before going in for my tests and half day sessions before each test. Not sure you are giving yourself enough time? Any school that can give you access to the actual test centre is a bonus and it helps a huge amount with nerves as you go into the compound. Like walking into an exam hall, you go blank! I did fine until the lady I was training with came off the bike at a set of lights on the way to the test centre for a practice. I then dropped it on the u turn and from then, it was my nemesis. My issuewas learning to separate my hips from toros, as I am short it is a reach for the handlebars for me, I went pillion while my instructor took us round,40mph in the worlds tightest circle was the scariest thing but it taught me to lean on the pegs and move my hips. Even on the morning of the test U turns were awful. Until the last half Hour! Hats off to my instructor for his perseverance, he hugged me he was that relieved! I got the u turn right next to the fence. Overshoot it and hello metal. I passed on my 1st attempt For your second one, they ride literally on your back wheel. It's frightening how close they get but you soon get used to it, their reactions will be better than yours anyway! Hope all went well for you!
  15. Always left mine on my scooter and had a cover over it at night. During the day it was parked in London, no one ever touched it. To be honest they would have been more likely to take the whole scooter! Just don't leave anything in the box or under the seat that you can't afford to replace again i.e. Helmets etc.
