  1. Ive been through several pairs of trousers ,even a all in one oversuit ,the seams always leak at the crutch ! I ride all year round ,sometimes sat in a puddle on the seat Only ones ive bought which have lasted have been orange fishmans over trousers ,not those old style thick things. These are called flexothane and are slightly stretchly ,and go over my textiles and havent leaked a drop ,we rode to France this year in heavy rain on the autoroute for 2 hours They dry in no time ,ive bought a oxford over jacket which was ok at the same time ,leaked a little around the zip
  2. Maybe slightly over budget ,CB500x or 500F ,42 miles you will want something good on fuel and reliable and not too nickable if your in London
  3. Flexothane are the ones ive been using Bright orange and slightly stretchy ,no crutch leak yet like my waterproof trousers and waterproof bike oversuit Think they are for fishermen, not too thick material either .They have lasted 2 winters so far no leaks yet
  4. Anyone had one on here,I was on the hunt for a monster or a hyperstrada, but someone I know has just bought one and I quite like the look of it.Hardly any stradas for sale so not even sat on one yet . Monster 1200 is the top of my budget Would prefer the Factory,is it worth hunting one over a standard version? , no where near as many for sale and a lot have gold frames which I don't like ! Or should I keep the on with the hunt for a Duc Cheers

    BMW R1200R

Darn Just stumbled across one for sale and I thought that looks ok,plus a BMW it will have good finish and be reliable
  6. V Nice Is that a WP ? I had a 1994 one from 6 months old until about 3 years ago
  7. I agree about the Hornet 900,mine was used for several winters, left outside and just regularly washed and serviced When I bought it the paint ,fasteners and overall condition in hard to clean areas was really good for a 14 yr old bike My current bike is 5 years old, rust spots on fork legs high up behind the headlight so well out of range of road spray ,engine paint and black bolts going white Mates 2 yr old BMW is doing the same ,he washes it and it's stored in a dry garage
  8. I've looked at a few Tracers with a few years use ,just parked ones not for sale ,to see how they do if in general use So I'm crossing those off the potential purchase list now.Shame as they are good all round bikes Next one to check out are Ducati monsters,or KTM 790
  9. I wonder if that's rust or weld spatter
  10. How about 5 to 8 year old Ducatis ?
  11. I've bought my 1st Harley last autumn, a 2002 Fat boy, all the new ones seem to have problems with wheels getting marked by brake dust ,so I'm assuming the anodizing is also rubbish on new bikes along with the zinc and paint
  12. Honda were always best but I don't k ow these days ,but not looked at any Triumphs,I did borrow a Triumph Tiger 800 for a euro trip last summer ,that was pretty good ,apart from the internal gear shift lever shearing it's pin on the 1st day,so rode it with a bungy cord around the lever for a week. Nice bike for the trip ,he is selling it too I found out last week ,but just too big to commute on every week which is a shame as I quite liked it
  13. I tend to swap bikes a lot ,normally 6mths to 18mths ,the odd one I keep longer Sold my 2002 Kawasaki W650 and a 125 Benelli ,had the Kawasaki for quite a few years Bought a 900 Hornet off a mate as I need a all year winter hack, and used that all winter last year The hornet had 36k and had been used daily, the bolts ,brackets and general paint was still pretty good for a 16yr old bike, the W650 was no where as good ,frame, plating etc suffered even though it was summer bike and garaged Bought a 2015 er6n ,4k miles off another mate ,it's been kept under a cover not ridden over winter The finish again is poor, all black brackets bolts are going white ,some paint on engine has lifted ,forks have rust spots Was looking for a 700 Tracer next ,again I've looked at a few parked up and online reviews, poor finish bolts and swingarm Are there any bikes that don't come with tons of electronic aids ,but have a better all round quality and don't cost the earth? Are Honda still the best these days ? It can't be just me as a friends new BMW has white marks on black fittings and he doesn't commute and keeps it clean
  14. honda CB500x has a lot of happy riders / reviews Light ,nippy ,good for touring/ commuter ,good mpg Not so boring power delivery ,pretty good finish and cheap compared to some bigger bikes
