  1. Bikes of that age can be money pits no matter how cheap the seem to be.Up to the seller to make sure it's in good working order and legal before selling it,and one of those isn't worth a lot anyway no matter how good.Tell him to sort it and you'll come back for another test ride when he was.....or just walk.
  2. Apparently fuel pumps are a known weak spot on YBRs,don't know if that helps but it's a place to start.
  3. Links here to downloads of YBR 125 manuals mate, though I've not tried them myself. http://125ccbikeclub.awardspace.co.uk/ You could always give Damerells a ring,if you do don't try to explain to the person who answers the phone what you want or they'll probably tell you they don't run an advice service, just as for the workshop and take it from there.
  4. Too right mate,we should teach them to spell it correctly as well
  5. Mate of mine is writing his first book,he knows a couple of best-selling authors personally, one has said his idea is a good one and should sell well having seen the first chapter. However no publisher will be interested in an "idea" from anyone, they want to see the book. After a lot of thought when he's finished his masterpiece despite one of his famous friends saying it would sell, saying he'd punt it in person to his publisher etc he's probably going to go the self published route and try to sell it electronically via Amazon.A big plus point of doing that is that it's guaranteed to get published, the famous friend had no less than 22 rejections from publishers before his first book finally hit the shops,my mate admits that given his personality after 1 rejection he'd bin the whole thing.
  6. I blagged a ride on a mate's carb'd Blackbird and didn't find any low speed handling issues at all.Blindingly fast bike that I found myself doing 130 on far too easily.I expected that knowing how powerful it is etc but what really impressed me was the way I was able to pick my way through a massive traffic jam due to roadworks.I felt as confident filtering between rows of cars and nipping down the outside as I do on my Hornet. I did find the bars a bit low for me after a while, odd as I'd ridden an old Fireblade a couple of weeks earlier and found it really comfortable and I'd have thought the Bird being touted as a tourer it would have been less extreme, maybe I just didn't fit it or something but after a 35 mile ride my wrists were aching. I wouldn't buy one purely because I don't have the kind of willpower that let me keep my licence long on one.
  7. I'd have one, smaller than my current bike but it would do me nicely and I'll probably go for a smaller bike next time.Still a lot of very nice ones around and they even rattle on forever when they've not been very well looked after.I like the retro looks as well, prefer the older stuff. As an everyday bike they're great, cheap to run and easy to maintain. I know that Honda Rune you're parked next to in one of those pics,if you want to spoil the owner's day ask him how much tyres cost for it.
  8. ACF50,brilliant stuff. Though personally as someone else said I'd replace the cable, use my bike every day and broken cables can spoil your day, something else I found out the hard way.
  9. I've used Bridgestones on my bikes for years now but really didn't like the 021s.Rode a Fazer 600 with those fitted and the front was really noisy, actually sounded like the wheel bearings were shot. While I was checking that out I found a few others on the foc u site who had had the same problem, never liked them as much as the 020s anyway. My Hornet 900 was fitted with them when I bought it and again when the front wore down it got very noisy, like a deep rumbling noise all the time. Currently got an 023 on the front and a Pirelli Diablo on the back, had a puncture and using my bike every day it was the Pirelli that was in stock or wait for a matching Bridgestone on order.Combination works very well but I'll go for a set of Diablos next time round,Bridgestone front is wearing quicker than the Pirelli rear and dosn't do anything better.
  10. I'm in Plymouth but I don't do rideouts, ride with a couple of mates I trust 100% not to do something something stupid or on my own. Ride all around the area, head down to Bodmin at least once a week, love the Moors and Louis Teahouse at Kit Hill attracts a lot of bikers with great food, better coffee than Jaspers and fantastic views if you're into that kind of thing.Usually do Jaspers at least once a week, plenty of space all around there if you can't find a place to squeeze in but I've never had any problem. Love the local B roads,A30 and A38 are both too full of morons for my liking during the day, quick and easy late at night though and the Traffic Plod are mostly tucked up in bed. As far as I know Jaspers have never served Chips and I've been going there a long time.
