  1. If you wanted to get it spot on you would need front and rear paddock stands to get it dead level If you check it on the centre stand and then on the deck it will be over the full mark, so as the previous posts have said if you do it to the middle you wont be far out It will also give a different level again if like mine it's jacked up at the rear a little bit so again it depends on how anal yo really want to be Mine is jacked up by 30mm and although it's not too much does make it show higher than it is so all things to take in to account Hope this helps and gives you an idea on how it can be effected
  2. Good luck with it and as they say just get as much practise as you can
  3. How far to the nearest supermarket car park Take a short trip down to there and you can practise all of you slow movements Once you've mastered that it should give you more confidence and then you can tackle the roadat the weekend weather permitting that is
  4. Having had a quick look at your beam pattern it looks like the headlight is the wrong way up Is it fixed into the fairing should it have one or just the round head light unit Even if it's a round headlight they can normally only go one way as the adjusters are at the bottom of the unit and screws are offset to stop that happening The next step would be get another bike beside yours and see how the beam compares with that I'm sorry I can't be more help but it might give you some insight
  5. As the other post said you can try the Turpin or Essex Bikers which do have some ride for new big bikers and 125's I went on one this time last year and there was 10-11 125's which gave then the chance to use the marker system as well
  6. I'll let you know later in the week for sure but it'll depend on whether the other half has any plans and how my luck goes this week lol, If I do make it I'll try and keep up
  7. If you can get the battery fully charged then check it first thing in the morning that'll give you a better indication as to whether it's holding a charge, I'm thinking that as this all started after stretching the loom it's not a cert on the battery being shagged. I would take the fuse bank and check the connections as all was well until that point, sometimes it's best to think of the simple solution might be the best and for my two penneth I'd be looking at the back of the fuses to see if there's a crossed wire in that area as that was what got pulled about

    chain chatter

It sounds like your chain has worn to excess Where it's stretched it's catching on the tips of the front sprocket causing it to chatter, the other give away will be when you drop the throttle it'll start a clicking noise with the chatter In the workshop manual there's a way of measuring the wear but there are a couple of different ways as I recall Hope you can sort it but it might be due depending on the mileage and the way it's been used although the Scotoiler does prolong the life but it depends on how many miles it's been without lube
  9. Well done on your pass and now just take it easy especially with the cold setting in
  10. I'll try and make it Phi but probably won't know for sure until Friday afternoon or even Saturday morning So watch this space and if I do pop along I'll see if I can get someone else to tag along
  11. Good day folks, nice to meet you all yesterday and a nice ride even though the last bit was a bit miss judged lol. Sorry I didn't have time to get back to the final point but food rules along with everything that goes with it hehe, it'll be good to see the footage if there's any I've been non stop from getting in with trying to get a few bits sorted for tomorrow but I've got as much done as I can so the rest will have to wait Lets hope the weather holds off so we can get a few more in before the snow lol, you never know we might be able to get a few more up for it if you come north of the Thames (you never know) and I'll be able to show you some of the pretty sights of Finchingfield and the like many thanks to Phil for leading and poor Joe for moping up the rear but alls well that ends well
  12. Why does everything happen at the wrong time Is it just me Yesterday and today have been manic so I'm just finishing off a couple of things and then stuff it I'm getting the bike ready WooHooooo If you see this before you get ready glorian I'll text you in a bit to sort out the meet time and place
  13. If your open to offers I may well be able to join in, I've just got to see if plans have been made and then I can either meet in Kent or the Colchester group that will be passing by me so can hook up with Glorian & Co at the BP A12 Boreham
  14. And don't forget to always adjust it with the weight of the bike on the rear wheel (side stand or paddock stand), as the others have said the mileage depends on how you ride and maintain it, I get 15-20 k miles out of mine but the argument against the shaft drive will remain as the maintenance is minimal (not that i'd know it's been years since I has a shaft drive bike)
  15. As the others have said it's there for safety and not just to make it awkward I do wonder how we survived years ago before this OTT gizmo's they decide to put in place for the brain dear people we must be ffs Anyway, go to your original question if you look at your clutch lever on the underside you'll see the tiny plug and socket, I'm not sure if that will get rid if you just unplug or whether you'll have to short it out, if it's just a matter of unplug (or in fact if you have to short it) there might be enough to loop back so it's out of the way (behind the headlight)
  16. I'put ultra low's on mine and it made the throttle cable tight on one lock All I did was got the pipe cutter out and took the inch off each side Job done and works a treat, the only thing I would say is they do flex a bit more than standard so do consider the brace
  17. As the others have said, relax and take your time. We all know it's about making progress but you being in control is what you need to keep in your mind, it's a bike and when it's moving the balance is in your hands so you can control it with the throttle and brakes, and again keep relaxed with practise you will get your comfort zone sorted
  18. Well done and good luck Sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling
  19. They've all hit the nail on the head and take yourself of to a big car park and practise slow manoeuvre's and gain your confidence and transfer that on the road, imo I think with safety in mind try not to over complicate the turn and don't be afraid to stop if someone is behind you, take your time, be aware of what is around you, take a deep breath and try not to get flustered. The old saying that practise make's perfect does apply so try and relax and enjoy your time out on two wheels All the best John
  20. As I'm skint and couldn't afford the progressive springs which as said will make a big difference but I changed the oil to 15w and that had a great improvement at a very low cost, I've got a k6 which does have adjustment and with a little tweek here and there got it set up and added a rear shock that came up on evil bay I'm still getting the rear set up but it has inspired confidence into and out of the bends As much as the springs will make a major boost to the front end what I did certainly helped so if your a bit hard up then this also helps. Well done for the write up though it's great to have this sort of thing put out there John
  21. Your MPG is as you say rubbish, the important bit is how you ride and then is your mileage correct If you have a sat nav and can compare the two that'll give you a better idea Moving on to the next part will be OK if you know a little bit about your bike but how is it running, do you have a flat spot, have you changed the air filter as one of the previous post's, is it still the stock can and is the end really sooty. You might find that the carb's could do with a clean and I generally throw a good dose of Redex in the tank and have found it pretty good stuff and normally does the trick. Hope you can get the problem sorted and it'll probably end up a good reason. All the best John
  22. Well done Bex and I can only hope your doing the earlier year poppets as there s###s as they get older and not something I would want to be doing lol
  23. There are a few different makes out there and some even have the pockets for the armour so you'll have the impact protection, I tried the denim myself but didn't feel they were enough but I'm getting on a bit apparently and know I don't bounce as well as I used to
