  1. Reading this brings back so many memories! I was amazingly rubbish on my first CBT, so much so it took me another 2 return visits to get the certificate Just remember that we all learn at different speeds and when it clicks, it really does. Good luck for next time, you'll breeze it!
  2. Hmmmmmmmm, I was worried they may be a bit too small. When walking about they feel fine, just sitting in the riding position they feel a bit snug. I've been to two shops and tried on the same trousers in the same size to be told that they were definitely the right size for me. I think they just need to loosen up a bit............... hopefully My last leather trousers have stretched quite a lot, but they were very soft leather. Looks like I'm on a diet, and off to but some leather conditioner!
  3. So to go with my nice new BIG bike I decided to treat myself to some nice RST leathers! They fit great, look great & all protection is in the right place, the only problem is that they are soooooooooo uncomfortable! I have bought a two piece and was told to buy it a bit snug as they would give over time. So far this week have been wearing the trousers to watch tv in in the evenings Someone has suggested getting them wet whilst wearing them. Any other suggestions to make them more comfortable quickly????
  4. My first BIG bike. Compared to my little CBR125 it fees very fast
  5. Took the test at Burton Upon Trent. Not sure what bike to be honest, I'm toying with the idea of maybe a ninja 250 to build more skills and confidence for a year, or go straight to an ER6, as I learnt on an ER6 and found it good fun. I currently have a little cbr125 in the repsol colours, hence the forum name!!
  6. Test was Friday lunchtime in some pretty heavy rain. I was soooooo nervous, I'd been awake worrying since 2am. I really thought I'd failed on a couple of things as it really was the worst ride ever. Instructor kept me guessing for a good five minutes, telling me about where I went wrong, before telling me "so, it's a pass!!!" Took until yesterday to finally sink in that I have a motorbike licence Now the real learning can begin............. going to spend the winter months looking for a bigger bike!! A HUGE thanks to everyone on the forum for all your help and advice. Back in April I was the very nervous newbie who took 3 attempts to crack CBT!!
  7. Hi all, After miraculously managing to pass Mod 1 last week first time (with zero minor faults ), my instructor has now put in for a cancellation for a Mod 2 test date for me. I will have a full day Mod 2 training beforehand, but am looking for advice/ hints/ tips. Has anyone taken their test at that centre & know of any difficult or confusing bits of roads used on the test route? Am starting to panic!!!!!
  8. Passed yesterday 1st time with zero minor faults!! :-) I have no idea how this happened as 30 mins before my test I was practicing emergency stops on a side road and managed to fall off the bike (quite spectacularly) and snapped the brake lever After this my nerves were truly shot, but my instructor said told me that I was more than capable of doing every manoeuvre. Wobbled into the test area, then just thought "sod it, lets not mess this up". The thought of having to do no more figure of eights & u turns really spurred me on! The next 10 mins passed in a blur. Controlled stop 41kph, so I thought crikey, better pull my finger out, emergency stop 51kph and avoidance 54kph, I was so flippin relieved when he didn't ask me to complete the speed manoeuvres again!! Thank you for all the advice I have read on here. I seriously was the most nervous newbie EVER! For me, spending 4 months on a 125 building my skills and confidence, has worked wonders. I am still by no means competent, but an learning all the time and feel I am on my way to becoming a better rider. My one piece of mod 1 advice.............. watch the government or roadcraft video of the mod 1 manoeuvres. Really helped me make sense of the "sea of cones"!! Bring on mod 2!!!!
  9. After 3 months on a 125, been back to my bike school this afternoon as the instructor suggested to pop in and see how I felt on a big bike. Had a good hour of slow manoeuvres, figure of eights etc. Was really nervous after taking 3 attempts to crack the CBT, but found the ER6 surprisingly easy to handle. Didn't drop the ER6 once!!! As a result instructor thinks I'm ready for tests, so booked in for my MOD 1 training next week, and today's hour was free of charge............. what a top bloke Cannot wait, am very excited!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Thanks for the replies guys............ I have taken the bull by the horns and called my instructor, who has told me to pop in and have a test on the er6. My next question, as I am only 5ft 5 and eight stone, if I find the big bike (er6) too big, am I able to take my test on a 400 and have a restricted licence? I'm really not interested (at the mo) in having a big bike. I'm conscious of having something I can handle & manoeuvre comfortably, I don't want to feel intimidated by a huge heavy bike. My plan at the moment is to progress to a ninja 300 or cbr 250............ I think I'd be reasonably happy with either. I'm lovin my little cbr 125 to learn on, but feel I could have more fun if I had a tiny bit more acceleration/ speed.
  11. To take your bike test?? After taking what feels like an incredibly steep learning curve over the last 3 months, I am now at the stage where the 125 is getting a bit boring I feel I could do with a bit more throttle power to enjoy biking more! Hubby & father-in-law seem to think speed & corners are up to scratch and that I should get on with big bike lessons & MOD 1 & 2. I still feel sceptical that I could pass, although hubby says everyone feels this way. I suppose my question is, does everyone feel daunted by the thought of "the mod tests", or should I actually think "of course I can do it", in which case, back to the 125 for a few more hundred miles!!!
