  1. Looking to add a little more torque to my YBR125, my commute only has a max speed of 50 so the top end should still be more than enough if I was to change the sprocket. My question is, what sprocket should I be changing to to add more acceleration and will this affect my insurance? Cheers for any help, still a new rider hence why I just wanna get some opinions before I go ahead and spend any ££
  2. So today I spent my time, with my brother in law who knows much more about bikes and working on them than I do, cleaning the bike, wirebrushing the metal parts and spraying it new, and I was telling him about my problem with the gears, and he checked the chain, and said it was waaaay to slack, so he tightneed it up and then I went out and test it, it felt like a different bike, the engine breaking wasn't nearly as severe, I could actually glide a bit while in gear, I liked it alot more. Then while cleaning the nuts and screws, I accidentaly unscrewed the oil cap screw, and lo and behold, a litre of oil fell out, onto the garage floor, jet black. So we went up halfords and got some Castrol Power 10W40 and put that in, and I'm glad to say, everything working perfectly. Feels like a different bike, it even seemed to handle better but I think that's because I feel more confident cornering knowing that it wont slip into neutral mid-corner. Much happier with it
  3. Hmm I gues that could be the problem, I'm using reinforced toe caps, so I'm relying on the feeling from my ankle rather than the actual gear lever, I'll test tomorrow to see if I'm being a bit tame on the gear changes, but I'm also changing the oil aswell and see if that helps. Cheers for the help so far guys
  4. Well, I've had two different kinds, I've had a slip where, the neutral light is OFF but the bike isn't in gear, so I knocked it back down to fourth, then back up to fifth, that fixed that. Another time I was going from third to fourth, and it slipped into neutral WITH the neutral light ON, same remedy, knock it down and back up
  5. So I've had my YBR 125 '12 Model for a little over a month now, with 700 miles clocked on it, I bought it used, and have started tarting it up to look new again, hoping to have it looked showroom by the time I come to sell it. Everything's great, apart from, Neutral is very... flaky. Going from first to second, alot of the time it ends up in neutral, I can deal with that, but the main problem I discovered this morning while on a 80 mile round trip on lots of national speed limit roads, the bike slipped into neutral, from FIFTH, twice, without me touching the clutch or the gear lever. I'm thinking an oil change is needed, as it hasn't had any change since it was purchased by the previous owner over a year ago. I cleaned the spark plug but I'm already planning on buying a new one anyway. Is my diagnosis correct? Cheers Any queries just ask
  6. So been out and about for just under a week now and everything feels second nature. Having lots of fun and managed to get 135 miles out of £5 fuel happy days
  7. Cheers fella, got my ybr125 sorted, insurance is sorted, so come midnight *when the insurance starts and conveniently when traffic is non existant* i can go out and practice without having to worry about other road users, after gaining some confidence doing that, i can start joining in with traffic to get my hazard perception etc up to scratch! looking forward to it very much
  8. SUCCESS!! After some one on one training with a very nice instructor called Karl, I was soooooo much more confident with gear changes/junction simulation.also managed to do 3 concurrently successive u turns, did not manage one before. Onto the road test, I was doing it with another fella who was renewing his CBT, after two hours I was told I passed with flying colours, with my ownly downfall being leaving the indicatoron after a roundabout! The other fela has got to back as he doesn't meet the required standard. I'm very chuffed and can't wait to get out on my bike!
  9. Well, I went back today for my road test part, we did about 5 minutes warm up on the yard, but I just didn't feel confident enough with the throttle/clutch even now, so I told the instructor I did not want to go on the road yet, (different instructor this time), he said he appreciated me telling him that and he'd prefer I feel confident before heading out anyway and that for a tenna he'll let me do 4 hours more practice on the yard and the 2 hour road test on Sunday. Looking forward to it
  10. I haven't found a single school where I live that allow you to go back for further training free of charge. However, I will be sure to let my next instructor know that I didn't get the full time allocated previously.
  11. I'm OK with not passing, I'd prefer to be fully competent before I start going 30mph on the thing, my road sense is already pretty decent as I've been cycling on roads for the past year to college/work, it was just the bike controls/clutch that I was struggling with. The school just sent me a message saying I have a lesson booked on Friday with a different instructor, I'll be sure to mention that the previous lesson was cut an hour short so I wont be paying £20 for the first hour
  12. So did my CBT on Sunday, didn't achieve the required standard, so he couldn't issue me the certificate. I was thinking too much about what I was doing and getting confused with the gears/slow clutch control and so I agree I wasn't ready, even if I had of passed I would have wanted more training before I go out on my own. But the problem is, there was two of us doing our CBT and the instructor was really rushing us, conveniently he was going on holiday the same day (after the CBT I assume) and he even cut our day short, from 9 am to 4:30 approx to 3PM dead, and then said I would have to come back for more training at a price of £20 / hour . Even worse, because he is on holiday, I cannot get in contact to even book these lessons. I'm pretty annoyed to be honest. I was wondering if it's possible to complete my CBT elsewhere without paying the full CBT price?
