  1. That is exactly the same compression tester that I use, works OK for me. Don't know about the charger though but I don't see why not, it is a 12v with 4A so it seems fine.
  2. Cheers, The engine was a nightmare to do, basically I degreased it using Gunk and some aircraft engine cleaner I had, and then a rotary brass wire brush and several days work. Then I painted it with Halfords metallic black engine paint, which is a kind of grey, and silver engine paint. The forks are R1 forks with an XJR 1300 front wheel, hence the home made spacer to replace the speedo drive. Ta.
  3. A very tired nurse walks into a bank, totally exhausted after a 16-hour shift. Preparing to write a cheque, she pulls a rectal thermometer out of her purse and tries to write with it. When she realises her mistake, she looks at the flabbergasted teller, and without missing a beat, she says: ‘Well, that's great...that's just great... some as*hole's got my pen!'
  4. Well I'm around 14½ stone at the moment and am trying to reach my target weight of 16 stone in time for Christmas so I'm off down the pub and then the chippy on the way home.
  5. Belgom Alu is very good and does leave a protective coating which does last for a while. When the alloy becomes dirty, clean with wet wipe and re-do the Belgom Alu. It's what I use all the time. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/Bikes/PICT0031.jpg

    IOS7

How risky is it to upgrade my iPhone to this new IOS7? I have just read that if I do the world will end, well, some my apps won't work which is the same thing.
  7. How many mice does it take to screw in a lightbulb............. two, but I don't know how they got in there.
  8. I used rotary wire brushes and lots of engine cleaner and degreaser on my FZR engine. I then painted it with aluminium engine paint and Halford's metallic black engine paint (which comes out a metallic grey). A lot of work but worth it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/29092011127a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/29092011129a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/17102011163a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/z22102011181.jpg
  9. We do c-spanners for shocks but only one size at the moment, 58mm diameter. Worth measuring yours to see if they'll fit. http://www.ccdieffe.com/twin-shock-pre- ... -163-p.asp

    636 forks

Cheers Stu, I'll give them a ring.
  11. Saw this on another forum so I thought I'd share it. Sorry if it's been on here before.

    636 forks

I just got some 636 USD forks to go on the Zephyr, any recommendations where to get a set of billet yokes that don't have 300 bolts in and preferably less than 6" thick?
  13. Our course was about 4½ hours, if you leave before the end you are deemed as not attending and it's back to 3 points and 60 quid.
  14. For those who don't know the Eurosport commentators "> For me Whitham is the best since Barry Sheene commentating on the Pro-Am. ">
  15. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/XJROwners/Outings/Ironbridge10half.jpg This was us parked on the Ironbridge, not sure it was strictly allowed but no-one said anything.
  16. I bought myself an FZR that had seen better days for 500 quid and had this crazy idea of making it into a better streetfighter than the previous owners attempt. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/25092011100a.jpg The engine was a right mess but sounded sweet when I heard it run so it just needed a clean. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/29092011127a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/z22102011181.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/z06112011214.jpg Anyway, everything came apart, new forks and yokes and a million other bits and this is what it came out like. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/dieffe123/FZR%201000/Frontbike1_zps3fd1ba4a.jpg All very nice but I just couldn't ride it so it had to go. Ah well, start again.
  17. I gave up about 25 years ago and there were no "giving up" aids back then. What I did find helped a lot was that after every meal or cuppa I would brush my teeth, I carried one of those little travel kits about, and it definitely helped relieve the after dinner cravings. I now loathe and detest the smell of ciggies and am bemused by the hoards of people in work who go out into the rain every hour or so. I hope this helps.
  18. I got done in my Transit for doing 72 in a 70, little did I know that Transits are restricted to 60 on a dual carriageway. I opted for one of those Speed Awareness Courses and I've got to say, from going with the expectation of "they can't teach me how to suck eggs" I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually learned. If you get the choice then the courses are worth doing, though I won't be getting the choice again for another 3 years so I had better be good.
