  1. Spoke too soon got a puncture coming home from work and my rear shocks both exploded haha. Even the bloke at the garage was bemused as to how it happened. By the time I'm finished it'll be like I've brought a new bike in parts lol
  2. Most definitely the bloke who thought it was okay to try and overtake me whilst indicating right into a junction,,,, how he didn't hit me i don't know, if it weren't for me looking behind before I turned god knows what would of happened! Nobbish of sorts!
  3. Thanks for all the replies. Stripped down the bike and it seems the output shaft was past it, so replaced that with a new one, chain and sprockets and it seems to have sorted it. Happy days, other than being £140 shorter. Thanks again.
  4. loads. google it. there no way all the differences could be described on here. trying to diagnose issues like this on a forum is nigh on impossible. you will need someone with experience in bike mechanics to have a listen to your bike. it well be normal. it could be oil level. or given that its a Chinese it may well be fooked. Well I only wanted to know what is involved changing a gearbox. Not looking for a solution to fix mine, pretty obvious is f**ked.
  5. Chain seems to be fine. As for the tension seems to be what it says in the handbook. Well financially changing the bike isn't really an option. What's the main difference between them?
  6. So after 4 weeks of relatively problem free riding, other than a fuel tap leak, my first major mechanical bike problem. Seems my gearbox is on the way out. it whines in 1st 2nd and very slightly in third now. It clunks aswell even when switched off and just rolling. Sounds as though the gears aren't meshing. I have no problem changing gear whilst riding and it still pulls like normal. However when I downshift coming to a junction or bend, not aggressively at all, it clunks and knocks, sometimes so much so I can feel it as well as hear it. So from that info I'm pretty sure its on its way out, please so correct me if I'm wrong lol would love a simple fix haha but I doubt that. So my main question is how much of a problem is changing a gearbox on a bike? Anything that needs to be done specially? Changed gearboxes on cars and rebuilt car engines but not sure if there are any significant differences with a bike. Any info would be appreciated.
  7. Would just like to clarify at no point did I say I wanted a bigger horn to beep at people purposely because I kept finding myself in dangerous position. Not even entirely sure how and why everyone jumped on the band wagon. Either way I've found a solution to my issue so job done.
  8. That is true, however I get pulled out on very often with them having a clear view of me with no other cars in the sight. However they still feel the need to be in front of me. However I think the shitty L plates are the culprit mostly. Do you ride near the kerb? I was taught many many moons ago to ride about 1 metre out but generally I'll position myself smack in the middle of the lane I'm in. Unless I'm following another bike, then I'll sit off to one side of them in case they brake suddenly Of course not... in the middle of the road, I presume like most people. Being closer to kerb from my experience of riding so far people are enticed to make a stupid near miss overtake "to get past the learner" plus that's how I was taught to ride in the middle of the lane.

  10. Not just me then ha then you both need to look at your riding then if your getting in a position to use your horn that often Well you have no control of people who pull out on you. No one has. Anyway like I said, the purpose of this wasn't to have a louder one to use all the time. Simply more a looks thing.
  11. Well I don't want them for practical reasons, because let's face it there probably not. Just thought it would be something you don't see everyday and when you do need to use your horn because an idiots in front you, you can scare the living daylights out them lol
  12. There's a thread about this in the general bike meets mate should check it out
  13. Yeah I looked at that style which seem pretty accessible. Was looking for the trumpet chrome styley ones, but cant seem to find any at the right length and voltage. Was hoping someone had used or knew of such a thing Urrrm to my knowledge yes. Haven't really looked into in great serial.
  14. Well I just want a one off made for the bike, I know what I want and the dimensions of it. Just need someone to bend and weld it. Had them made for my car before... just need to find someone who would do it for a bike. As the place I used only deal with bikes,
  15. Shame I wouldn't be able to keep up with you guys.... NEED A BIGGER BIKE lol. Happy riding though
  16. Looking to get a half decent exhaust made for my bike as off the shelve ones are very limited and s**t. Looking for somewhere to get one made... anyone know or can recommend a shop? Thanks.
  17. Anyone ever mounted these onto a bike. Going for a real unique look for my bike and thought something like these would look good and sound good. Thoughts?
  18. Have been looking with no success as yet. Don't suppose anyone knows what could possibly be an alternative, I've read that my engine etc are Suzuki like... code is ga125f if that helps :/
  19. Yeah I will change it, just wanted to know how serious an issue to see if I needed to sort it right now. Not sure how easily it is to source parts for my bike yet ha. Cheers for the response mate
  20. Hi all, had to take my fuel pipe off this morning due to it becoming kinked and bogging the bike down. My bike has a fuel tap (not entirely sure if all bikes have them lol) so before taking it off I turned the tap off. However it didn't stop the fuel flow and ended up having to use a old rag to mop up the spillage. Is this a major issue as I remember being told that if fuel drips into the carb it can leak into the engine. Personally I don't get that, isn't that what the carb overflow pipe is for? Either way just wondered if some one could tell me how big an issue this could be, not sure how long its not been working obviously, so could of been like it for months and its been fine. Thanks in advanced.
  21. Not looking for more speed as such, just simply to stay at the same speed I get but without having to keep the engine revving its nuts off unnecessarily. Basicly just trying to preserve the engine for aslong as possible.
  22. You know I never considered a rack, turns out it would make it far to expensive for myself for one for my bike. Tail one it is, seems there a good enough for what they want and I think looks wise they're better. Thanks for the info chaps might invest in a tank bag at a later date if all goes well.
  23. So I popped into my local bike shop after work yesterday on the look out for a storage box for my bike as I'm getting pretty fed up with having to carry a bag everywhere. Had it in my head I was getting a top box but I soon saw these tail pack bags that sit on the rear end. I'm so much of a bike noob I had no idea they existed. Either way I walked out with nothing thinking I needed to research what's best. Spoke to the guy in there and he said the bags are much worse, however I couldn't really understand why. Been looking this morning and still none the wiser. Can anyone shed some light on what's best etc?
