  1. I bought one for attaching to my helmet when cycling. Pretty good. I have since bought another one. I drilled a cutout in the front fairing and inserted one in there. It can barely be seen with just the top few mm of the lense protruding. I also have one attached to my rear Givi rack. Both are wired into the headlight circuit so come on and off with the lights so no worries about battery life. It depends if you're mounting to the bike or your helmet. I don't like all these tellytubby style cameras on helmets so prefer the bike option
  2. Hi, Not been biking much recently however now that spring is almost in the air it's time to get some little jobs done. I need a new chain and sprockets and am also thinking of changing the tyres. My bike is a GSX750F-X (1999). Will the DID Chain and Sunstar Sprocket Kit be good for my bike? My current tyres are Dunlop Sportmax. Front – 120/70 ZR 17 58W Rear – 150/70 ZR 17 69W Will the Michelin Pilot 4 Road Tyres be a good upgrade/replacement? thanks Graham
  3. I'm 10 mins off J22 M6. I'm up for a ride sometime. I like to stop regularly for coffee and sandwiches!
  4. So I've just logged on and looked at this thread thinking it was this Sunday to find out it was last Sunday. Next time I need to add the date to my phone as a reminder! Hope to get to a next meet whenever that is.
  5. I'll be coming from Wigan area so can meet with you TC and GazW (provided I am still able to go)
  6. Maybe the majority of them don't know. It wasn't mentioned to me when I did the CBT and so only picked it up after riding for a while when I noticed bikers nodding and waving at me.
  7. I have Beowulf exhaust and they are road legal. I questioned that directly with them before I bought it. Keep the baffle in! Performance wise I was informed around 3% increase on the BHP which for 47 BHP increases to roughly 48.41 %. I'm insured with BikeSure, told them about the above and was also requested to send photos of my bike with all the extras on display so I know I am covered and BikeSure do too!
  8. Yep indeed, those clouds are a giveaway moving at that speed...must have been a very windy day
  9. My bike now with new exhaust, crash bars, exhaust tape under the gasket (you can't miss it!) and a couple of extra stickers! Going to buy a new emblem as the 'F' has a part missing due to the accident last October (almost £40!!) GSX
  10. Count me in....as long as its not raining. Just over 2hrs from my house should be a good run on a nice day.
  11. Hi, I'd be up for a ride out. I live Wigan area. Not had a ride with anyone yet apart from my instructor/examiner so would be cool to start meeting people when weather gets better. I had a ride not too long ago across the A666 into Darwen. It was cold across the moors!
  12. I'll buy a set of paddock stands in spring when I do full service. Look a handy bit of kit Thanks for the info
  13. Its reasonably flat, the garage floor. I've always checked the bike in the same position after the last oil change, which was done by mobile mechanic, so I can be reasonably sure the position is ok. Doing the work on the bike myself now as cheaper and more fun. When this is all sorted the next thing I am going to do is clean and sync the carbs. I bought a 4 way Morgan Carbtune shortly before the accident so haven't used it yet. Should be fun to do next spring! Thanks to all for helping
  14. Yep that did it, 1L bang on. So the bike has now had a whole 4L tub and its 2/3 between L and M Thankyou!
  15. I've had the bike running today and when I put my hand at the bottom of the seal where the gasket is I can feel air coming out. There is still a huge amount of air coming out of the end of the exhaust and it makes a great sound. Would it be worth taking off the jubilee clip and covering the whole of the joint in exhaust tape from Halfords then put the jubilee clip back on? something like this ? http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repairs/head-gasket-exhaust-repairs/holts-gun-gum-flexiwrap-silencer-repair#tab1 Obviously this gap needs sealing but even more so as I am going to try and schedule an MOT for tomorrow or Saturday so I can be mobile again. thanks
  16. Ah that'll be it then. Dry engine! I poured out what was left of the Castrol 4L container into a measuring jug and there is just under 700ml so I have put in 3.3L. I'm assuming because the oil escaped from the broken generator cover with the bike flat on its right side that more oil was lost than if It had been drained from the sump. I've been back in the garage and checked again after the bike has been stood for a few hours and its the same. Methinks you solved it with the 4.7L. I'll fill again in the morning, I can always drain some off if I overfill. Thanks for your advice
  17. Well its got about 3.4 litres in now. Started it and after a bit of grey smoke etc its idling fine. Let it run for 10 mins, still not showing above the L mark for the oil level. I can rock the bike to the right and see the level increase but when upright it falls below again. Maybe it needs more oil? Bike has to be on centre stand to check level which it is.
  18. Yeah the bike is on the centre stand on a flat-ish surface in my garage. I know there are 3 litres dropped in there compared to hardly any before. I'll leave it for a bit and recheck. thanks Graham EDIT - I'll check the Haynes in a few mins, now I think of it I'm sure it has to be on the side stand.
  19. The engine had no oil so I was not able to heat it before draining/filling. I've filled my bike with around 3 litres of oil, manual says 3.3 when not doing the oil filter. I'll top up when the engine is hot etc Thing is there is only around a mm showing in the sump window. Its not even at the L mark. No leaks anywhere (yet!) I'm aware the thick gooey oil will take a while to drop down around the cold metal but when can I start the engine? Do I have to let the oil settle for a few hours? I'm afraid to start it in case the engine seizes. I'm at the last hurdle now and don't want to blow it. Literally lol thanks
  20. Thanks for the reply, will look into this when everything else is running
  21. I have a Fender Mexican strat, Boss GT-10 effects unit and various stomp pedals and a Casio Clavinova digital piano. Only play at home though, don't have time to play in bands like I did throughout my teens and early twenties. Often think about buying a 7-string but don't know how often it would get used Mainly into metal/prog metal/rock but listen to all kinds Dreamtheater, Moon Safari and Haken are top of the listens at the moment (hence temptation for the 7-string)
  22. Poo, I missed that. I could have got a further 10% off with my British Cycling membership too.
  23. Gray

    Happy New Year

All the best for the year ahead to everyone. I'm going to get out more too this year especially if its raining as I tend to go out only on dry days
  24. Any ideas where to get the replacement plastic lettering as per the photo (taken after accident)? The 'F' has gone walkabouts. I've looked on ebay and can only see stickers not hard plastic thanks http://s13.postimg.org/lxrugfs1j/DSC_0015.jpg
