  1. I used one of these regularly - it got cold and wet one winter morning and stopped working but was replaced under warranty and is back on my spare lid. On one trip up into Scotland, the battery was flat after about 12 hours use so be aware for longer trips. I'm now using a Cardo Scala Rider G4 as it's got an FM radio and a matched set for SWMBO's lid, other than that I'd still be using it. Enjoy!
  2. I was reckoning we could pay for our trip by taking a few wee ones back! [emoji6][emoji965][emoji106]
  3. Cheers guys. It's our return I'm trying to plan so I'll have to fit in a stopover close to Calais in order to guarantee our 2 hour time slot. Thanks again.
  4. A group of us are heading over to the Somme Centenary next year and intend to do some touring around Europe before heading for home. Having never used the Eurotunnel before I'm looking for advice as to whether we should book our tickets in advance or is it ok to just land to the terminal in Calais when we're ready to go home? I would rather we had some flexibility on our trip. Thanks in advance, Al
  5. Cat, friend request sent on FB. Being in NI I'm too far away but I'd like to see the pics of the turnout please. Cheers, Al Geddes
  6. Take a look at police in Northern Ireland. All officers armed with pistols for their own protection both on and off duty yet there are fewer firearms incidents than in Yorkshire which is a similar size. Ultimately the public adapt to seeing armed officers and the gun is usually the last thing an officer reaches for in a confrontation but at least he or she knows it's there. There are armed response officers and specialist firearms officers just like other forces but all other officers also happen to routinely carry pistols.
  7. You'll put a lot of stress on your drive shaft trying to bump start an RT
  8. They talked about dominating the lane and yes it's the dirty part of the lane but it's usually the driest too and less cars drip oil these days. I can only pass on what he told me. They were concerned about "encroachment" so you could well be right in your assessment.
  9. Centre lane is where the police are teaching their riders to use now. Got advised about it on my bike safe course earlier this year.
  10. Cheers for that - I have a Bluetooth helmet kit but this might be more my cup of tea!
  11. Do you use this just for music or do you use it for calls too? If you use it for calls, how does the mic work on the bike?
  12. Take a photo or video of your problem and post it. Don't forget to tell us what sort of bike you're talking about?

    HELP!!!

I used to have a 1990 pre divvy XJ600 - it was similar after sitting for a while and with the choke on. Take her for a good run with the choke off and see how she goes. Also be sure and join the XJRiders.com forum for plenty of advice from XJ current owners.
  14. You beat me to it but I'd also add a run from Oban to Fort William then out to Malaig past the Harry Potter railway viaduct for a ferry over to Skye and returning via the Skye Bridge and back yo Fort William via Spean Bridge and the Commando Memorial. Adds a few miles but superb roads and scenery.
  15. Happy birthday - 56 in dog years!
  16. Well done - now your learning really begins. Best piece of advice is to ride as if every other road user is out to kill you! Stay safe and enjoy [emoji106]

    Tyre valve

I had to get a front wheel looked at when I had a suspected puncture. Turned out I needed a new valve. All in cost £20 - wheel off, tyre off, new valve and all put back on again.
  18. Google maps downloads the data to the phone. Use an app like Copilot which stores the map on the phone and is a lot faster than Google Maps. That and a wired in charger and you'll be set to navigate.
  19. Yes I have one. Handy as a temporary fix but ultimately if the seals start to leak you should be thinking about changing them. Mine lives under the seat and has been used to reseat the seals a couple of times and it does what it claims to do but a feeler gauge is a good alternative as the hook really isn't all that effective.
  20. If it's dual carriageway there'll be a sign where it starts and ends. If no sign then it's a single carriage way with two lanes in each direction.

    XJ600 oil leak

Well done on the test pass. I see you asked the same question in the XJ600 forum. The guy who runs the forum is Radare and he's replied to you. He pretty much knows all you need to know about XJs and he seems to reckon you'll be ok.
  22. I run Co-Pilot and use an ultimate addons mount and can echo what Tango said. A well recommended app but needs a power supply. You can connect your ultimate addons charger directly to the battery but if you're in any way electrically skilled you should be able to run it through a switched relay so you can't drain your battery when the ignition is off. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/09/14/04feb3f4277614209227dfae1ba5ca85.jpg
  23. I'll be there next year - without fail!
