  1. I have just had my Yamaha Midnight Star valeted and winterised by the guy from allyearbiker in Newbury and I have invited him down to my place of work in Southampton on the 4th of March if anyone would like to make use of his services.
  2. Another vote for the Red Shoot here mate, sometimes pop in for a lemonade on a sunday lunch time, sit outside under the trees and drift away. Or "The Fighting Cocks" of course just on the edge of the Forest from Fordingbridge side. (That is the real pubs name Mods!)
  3. Was not thinking of that at the time but it could be a great rideout for a few of us.
  4. Looking to do "the foot of England" around September time, start in Southampton and ride to the big toe then up the instep and up the ankle a little bit then back across / down to Southampton. Looking to overnight in Cornwall as far west as possible. Any ideas would be helpful.
  5. That was one of the things to do on my 50th birthday in 2012 but not anymore. Rented a motor home a year or so ago and did the Boston thing!! Excellent time had by me and the 'er indoors!!
  6. I used toolbox drawer liner under my mag bag, works a treat. Machine mart is quite a good price.
  7. Big, comfy, loads of storage room, milemunching riding position and its got it when you need it!!
  8. Had to have a "bum" break from all that traffic in Wales!!! (You can just see it if you squint and close one eye)
  9. Had a couple of spare days, wife was at work so I jumped aboard the FJR and rode from Southampton to Snowdonia!!! Stayed overnight at a little b and b called Tyn y groes hotel just outside Dolgellau on the A470. (Postcode LL40 2HN and number is 01341 440275). Had a great ride up and around Snowdon and rode back the next day. 680 miles in all. Well recommended if you got a couple of days to kill. I took the A470 from Junction 32 of the M4, went over the Breacon Beacons and then followed it up to Snowdonia, took a bit of a detour to look at the lakes around Bala (A494 and A4212)I have attached some photos from the hundreds I took.
  10. Gonna sound a bit strange this but I was going on a mini tour of Wales at the end of July with my brother but he has decided to pull out. So is there anyone from near Southampton fancy running into Welsh Wales for a nights stopover and a days riding? I am going to book myself into a b and b for the night so it will cost you that on top of your fuel. Be a shame to go on my own!!! I ride a FJR so looking for a similar rider to myself (48 and feels old inside!) In case you are wondering, wife would come but she has had quite serious stomach surgery and cannot do the bumps anymore.
  11. The services just off the Ring of Beara - Ireland 2009
  12. Looking down from the Healy Pass in Ireland.
  13. I have an autocom set up on my fjr that does all when connected to my iphone. Connected thru tt rider 2 to do the sat nav in the ear 'ole thing as well.
  14. I also have a Rider 2 and think it is the dogs doo dahs. Bluetoothed through Autocom bluetooth dongle into my helmet. Found to be brill for my trip to Ireland and worked every time. Only minor wart is that in bright sun light the screen goes blank. Also get most holders for most sat navs at http://www.sportouring.com. Look under Ram Mounts.
