  1. Hi guys, I was hoping to be able to do my A2 before my cbt expires but there's no mod 2 booking soon enough so unfortunately I have to do me cbt again. The person I spoke to today when making the booking for my mod 1 said that all in all, including the cbt, it's going to cost about £740 assuming I pass first time. I can't help but feel like that's quite alot when I've seen people with no experience get the whole package for less than £500. Would I really require the amount of training that I'm going to get with what I'm paying? How much training should you require if you've been riding for 2 years? Would I be better off booking individual lessons and booking the tests separately. What do you think I should do? Also, how does the mod 2 booking work? I've booked a whole training day for the mod 1 and then another day where my test is at 2:30 so I'll have some training time before the test on that day as well. Will I get other training day for the mod 2? When are they likely to do my cbt renewal? Lots of questions lol Cheers guys
  2. Thats just the sort of thing Im after, ill get the full version. Thanks mate Also good luck with your theory
  3. Hello guys, I am finally old enough to do my a2 I've been counting down the days since getting my 125 two years ago, not that I didn't enjoy that time though. I'm going to be booking my theory test in the next couple of days but I'm not sure how much time to allow for revision etc. The next available day is nearly a month away, surely that's enough time. What is a good source of information that I can go over to prepare? I've done some mock tests online and past a couple but failed a couple as well so I definitely want to prepare a bit more for when I do the real thing. Cheers
  4. Somehow forgot I posted this and I've just seen it now. Thanks for all the kind words
  5. I got the Mercedes apprenticeship Everyone I have spoke to at MB have been really friendly so I'm happy with the decision. Cheers for the responses guys
  6. I had heard that Honda had the best training in the industry.
  7. I think MB is the way to go then, just gotta hope I get the position now
  8. Hi guys I'm in the process of getting a car service tech apprenticeship and I've got a bit of a choice to make. For Mercedes-Benz, I have gone through tests, phone interview, actual interview and I just recently finished a work trial. If what the tech's at Mercedes said was anything to go by, I should (hopefully) be offered the position. I'm still waiting to hear back from them whether or not I have got the job. I applied to Honda over a month ago and I have just got an email today saying they want me to do a phone interview. I'm going to do the phone interview no matter what but the thing is, what is Mercedes get back to me before I'm able to do a work trial at Honda? So basically I'm asking whether anyone has experience as to which programme is better? Things worth mentioning: The Mercedes-Benz dealership I would be working at is way bigger than the Honda one. The Honda position is in London whereas the MB position is outside London (possibly lower wages). I'm not far from the Honda training centre so I would not have to stay in a hotel for the Honda training periods. The MB position involves working on AMG's, Maybach's and other prestigious vehicles. The Honda dealership also services bikes as well so I imagine I would gain some new riding buddies (the bike tech's). Any info or advice you can give is appreciated
  9. Funny that I should see this thread at 3:30am as it's half term and I've got no college tomorrow, just had to leave a comment... That's actually quite scary seen as I'm already starting to notice birthdays coming round quicker and quicker...
  10. Saw this on reddit and thought I'd share it here as I'm sure some will be interested in watching it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wrlhvR5vHU

    Post removed?

Ah okay, I'll post it again then
  13. Was my post removed? If it was then why? It was the one of the close call I had yesterday.
  14. What I was thinking just couldn't explain it
  15. But why would you lose 10mm of pad contact? The caliper would be mounted from the same place as the 2 pot is now.
  16. I came across a new 4 pot brembo caliper on ebay for £55 but I'm not sure if it will work with my bike. The bolt spacing is 65mm which is the same as my bike but the bikes that come with this caliper from factory use a 320mm disc. My bike has a 300mm disc. Does this matter? Here's a pic of the caliper: Here's a pic of my 2 pot caliper:
  17. Best of luck mate, hope you get a warm(ish) day for it
  18. Watch how his body moves when he says he's a paramedic... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiYJJILPPzQ
  19. Obviously a crash is always a bad thing but the circumstances were good if you think about it. The first person that attended him was a doctor and the ambulance came in a couple of minutes. Shame about the bike though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FXcNrzh-wk
  20. So what are you guys using to lube the chain the then? I'm using wurth dry chain lube but I don't think it's much good, my chain has actually developed light surface rust since I started using it. What are some good 'wet' chain lubes that don't cost a fortune?
  21. I probably will just end up using this from now on as my dad already has some, shame you cant spray it on though...
  22. I recently got a spray from wurth called brake and chain cleaner and it was fantastic at removing grime from the chain. But 500ml went so quick. Seen as it can be used on brakes aswell as chains, could you just use standard brake cleaner to clean a motorcycle chain. The wurth brake and chain is about £9 for 500ml but on ebay you can get 6 x 600ml cans of hycote brake cleaner for £17. Even if it's not as good as the wurth one, I'll have enough of it to do a good job. Also I've got a standard roller chain so I don't have to worry about o-rings etc. So can you use standard brake cleaner to clean a motorcycle chain?
  23. Looks well nice mate, enjoy it The rotary engine could still have a good future seen as Mazda's new sport's car is gonna be rotary powered.
  24. And get it slightly wrong and you seize your engine.. two strokes need a good supply of oil to keep them from seizing. So be very careful if you start leaning out the mixture.. I did a plug chop yesterday, atleast what I would call a plug chop, and I was running lean, there was no mixture band at all. So I changed from a 240 jet to a 250 and I'm gonna do another plug chop and hopefully I should see a ring. I'm not interested in running lean to achieve slightly more power or anything. My main priority is that there's no risk of it seizing.
