  1. I know someone who bought one of those kits, with probably the same intentions. I think the last converstion we had on the subject was along the lines of... "F******* p***** of s***, fiddly as f** c*** of a job to get right. When you cut the mat, little bits of fibre go everywhere and make a f****** mess of everything. f*** it, it's going in the f****** bin. F****** waste of good money"
  2. Photobucket, then it's one click to copy the image location to paste to the site. www.photobucket.com
  3. Best I have seen was in one of my customers houses. A chimney breast mounted tv with aerial and power cables run through the back of a flue, down the chimney and plugged in downstairs through a fireplace. I didn't bother asking why.. I should have taken pictures and submitted it here >> Clicky
  4. So do you reckon it's worth a go? I don't know anything about this to be honest (the last electroplating I did was at school with a beaker of copper sulphate solution and a graphite rod) but I could imagine that it might give a thin shiny cosmetic layer that doesn't stand up to as much wear and tear as a professional job. If you think it's worth trying I'll give it a go - working in the pesticide industry there's very little in our lab that won't kill you, so we're well used to dealing with chemical and biological nasties I had a read of the site earlier and as long as you're prepared to put the graft in, the results look good. As with any surface refinishing, you'll get out what you put in. Any pitting will need to be knocked back and filled with metallised putty or similar, then copper plate and finally chrome. Looks worth it for a restorer and got to be cheaper than sending stuff away. What are you looking at re-chroming ? if it's a rusty mudguard that I reckon it would be tough, solid lumps of metal would be a whole lot easier to work with. You'd have to completely get rid of rust.
  5. Didn't even have as much as that in the workplace. On night shift we used to dip bread in the zinc bath and leave it out for the rats. They used to scratch their own guts out.
  6. Do I bollocks !!! It was a long time ago, and I don't miss the constant nosebleeds from chromic acid vapour, or cleaning metals with acid that stinks like 10000 farts. Plus sodium cyanide (zinc plating) and the other extremely hazardous stuff.
  7. I remember being out on the SP-1 and this red thing hammering up behind me. Turned off onto an old disused runway and nailed the bike, I only started to lose the car at about 155 (on my speedo), this thing was 'kin fast. Still have no idea what it was but it was covered in carbon bits and had a massive DTM style spoiler on the back. The guy caught up to me at the next roundabout (after I'd rejoined the road from the old disused runway) with the biggest cheesy grin ever, and giving me a thumbs up. Returned the thumbs up myself and was chuckling away in my helmet as I turned off. Credit where it's due, whatever it was, it was mental.
  8. Says "Chrome look" on the advert. Wonder what sort of stuff they use, as I used to work in electroplating and the chemicals were extremely poisonous and corrosive. The photo gallery results look impressive though.
  9. Not quite, there's a few different versions and you have to re-route shocks, linkages, exhausts etc. The later 750 arm is completely different from the 800s too. Well worthwhile if you do the homework though.
  10. I'd love a set that lasted this long....
  11. did they check the teeth? if my dog stopped eating its one of the things id check, bleeding/swollen gums/ cracked teeth etc This has just reminded me about one of our cats having similar symptoms. Turned out to be a build up of tartar on his molars and he'd ended up with a gum infection. He stopped eating and the weight started to drop off him, vet took 7 teeth out and he was back to normal in no time. Hope yours pulls through, not nice when you know your pets are ill and they can't tell you what's up.
  12. You pack her bags and put them by the front door, in the meantime, keep looking at your mobile phone and giggling (making it sound the text alert noise) but don't let her see it. Happy to help.
  13. Just be like Burt Gummer in Tremors.... "> Prepared for anything.
