  1. I took and failed my first attempt at the mod 2 early last month. At the time I wasn't too fussed (disappointed obviously, but isn't the end of the world). Now I have my second attempt coming up and I am so nervous, just really don't want to fail again. On my first test my examiner was being followed by her examiner for an assessment. I was assured he would only be watching her riding so not like I was going to have them both judging me. Set off ok, town riding ok, did miss the huge sign on the independent riding but we just rerouted and got back on course. The last part of my course was coming up, and this was the arterial road riding, something I detest because of getting battered by the wind. I knew if I was going to fail, this would be the area for not going fast enough. Told myself to man up, was only for a few minutes so pushed myself, made it up to 70 and even done some overtaking. Made sure I got in all my observations and lifesavers (which are really hard to do at speed?!) Actually felt quite chuffed with myself. Got back to the test centre but had a feeling I had failed and of course I had - apparently I was a bit too close to a white van on the arterial road. Was annoyed with myself, but I had proved to myself I could do it. Failing in the last couple of minutes and I now have the torture coming up again soon. Tests do weird things to people!
  2. The cost of a MOD 2 resit is around £210 for the school I use in Essex. I haven't asked for a breakdown of the cost so this is my own guess, however if you factor in the cost of the test, bike hire, insurance, petrol, your pre lesson plus the fact the instructor is going to be sitting in the DSA office for an hour not doing a great deal when you are actually on the test (wasted time, no income from another student) I would say although it is a lot of money this is working out about right. Don't get me wrong, I only have my Mod 2 to complete and the thought of failing this and having to shell out again isn't good (nerves are not my friend, took me 3 attempts on my mod 1 so I am not hopeful)
  3. Thank you for all the responses chaps. Much appreciated
  4. Thank you for these, will also check them out
  5. Hi, in most cases if the ear plugs are not comfy or they keep dropping out your not fitting them properly. Try this way http://www.dadepaper.com/Content/Produc ... 3ac61a.pdf Auritech plugs are as good as they get, you shouldn't really be having this problem Hope this helps Great thank you - it is most likely me
  6. Hi all, Just wondering if any of you guys can recommend a good set of earplugs please? I currently use auritech but find them really uncomfortable after a while and one of them always pops out! Thank you
  7. Third attempt at my mod 1 this morning - only went and passed! I cannot explain the relief I feel right now! I am doing an A2 licence and appreciate I will have to do it all over again if I every want to un restrict a bike - but right now I would happily stay restricted Got a minor for the manual handling (too slow) and a minor for only getting 47 on the first hazard avoidance A lesson or 2 and lots of practice on my 125 and hopefully that shiny new licence will be mine
  8. Yes that is correct. I have a full car licence but doing DAS and didn't need anything else. Obviously have to do the CBT, then the theory in order to be able to do Mod 1 and Mod 2
  9. Took my Mod 1 test today - and failed on the serve. Had a clean sheet all the way then that pesky yellow cone got in the way! I turned too quickly and caught the tip of the yellow cone and sent it flying. So very frustrated with myself. Weather was awful today, wind and rain, I was shaking like a leaf and thought I was going to vomit at any time. All I had to do was miss the cone... Oh well, pretty annoyed with myself but have booked another test. I will get there with this biking malarkey
  10. I am also 31 and doing the A2. My reason being is I don't like the 600cc - just too heavy for me and I just do not feel comfortable on it. The 500 is perfect and I am in no rush. I currently ride around on a YBR125 so anything I get next will be a step up. I am happy to take my time and build up, maybe I won't go for the full licence but I would really like bigger tyres!
