No I'm not stupid, I rode the bike down my street which is empty at no more than 30mph, if even 30. It's not like I was out burning her down busy roads or even a moderately busy road. Pretty sure anyone who has bought a new bike has giving her a try safely.

Yeah it was sitting for abit, actually seemed ok this morning, I wanna keep the bike in really good nick, it's only got 6000miles on it and looks perfect. I decided to take it a spin round the block was running for about 5-10mins not going faster than 30mph, when I got back the engine and pipes where roasting hot? Is this normal? Sorry for the questions, it's my first big bike and I wanna keep her good.

No I will wait until I get my licence, wouldn't wanna risk anything. I'd love to know why it just starts on the choke though.

Hi, my dragster 650 will only start when I pull the choke out, it starts first time when the chokes out then an I put the choke back in and it's fine. Any ideas? I only got the bike yesterday and don't have my module 2 passed yet, it's driving me crazy I just wanna take her out for a long journey.

Bit of a beginner at all this, how do you mean the spark gap and it's set to wide?

So you suggest I just get new plug caps? Or should I do something more?

This exact thing happened to mine, i took to a mechanic and he said dodgy fuel, so he did what he thought to fix it and it didn't sort the problem. Turned out it was a faulty ignition coil and when we took the tank off we could see a spark, changed the coil and the bike ran fine after.

I'm not sure if he changed the plug, as I said it never happened before until he changed the coil and the cap that goes round the spark plug. I think I will buy new plugs an caps and do it myself. It's a real pain in the arse to be honest. I am located in Belfast.

Hi everyone, I have a yamaha virago, when it rained the bike used to stall, I seen a spark coming from the ignition coil so I got it changed. After I changed it the spark plug has began to spark. I took it to my local garage but he couldn't figure it out. I'm no expert but when he changed the coil the cover on to the spark plug was different and did not cover it as much as the original but it's not completely showing either. This didn't happen before until he changed the coil. Any ideas? I must add the spark appears to be coming through the rubber part but there is not holes are anything. It just touched slightly and straight back up again and continued on. He said the rest of the test was faultless so he seen no reason not to pass me. My instructor also said after the test that the guy who took the test was one of the better ones.

I passed mine on Wednesday, I was pretty stressed on the way to the centre but once I seen the course it actually calmed me alot. You should not rush and just take your time. Stop, look and think about what you are doing before you do it. I done every part perfect and the last one was the figure 8. I put my foot down on the figure 8 but brought it straight back up and continued. I thought I've failed now but kept going, when I was called over the guy said good news it's a pass. He said I seen your leg go down but the rest was perfect and we can add some discretion. So if you do mess up just keep going. Good luck.

I have my module1 tomorrow and I am shitting my pants, any time I've practiced I have done it perfect but when I know it's a test I am crapping one. I just bought a 650cc dragstar so really wanna get this module one finished.

I did spray wd40 on it ages ago and it sorted the problem until now, tried wd40 again and it didn't work. Is it a difficult job changing ignition coils?

Hi everyone, my virago when it gets wet the engine cuts out, first of all it makes a popping sound from the bike and then splutters forward and then stops, it's a nightmare because I have to ride out of town today to do my final practice for my module 1 test tomorrow. It would be ok it was dry but it's been pissing down. Any help or quick fix? I think it might be the ignition coil.

I'm not gonna risk the drive even though it's short, I think I'd be fine but it will probably be the one time in 3 years of riding a bike that I'll get pulled over.

I'm in Belfast, I was thinking maybe getting my instructor down then I can ride it back with him.

Lol I'd probably be wrecked doing that, I am scared to drive it home, I imagine getting caught and the bike getting crushed, that would just be soul destroying.

Hi everyone I have my test in 2weeks, been riding my 125 for 3 years but I recently bought a dragstar 650, trouble is I need to collect it, it's only 10mins down the road and the guy can deliver it as he broke his neck. I was thinking of riding her home the short distance that it is, on the off chance I got stopped what would happen? I won't go out on the bike until I pass my test but I do need to bring the bike here in the next few days.
