  1. Ebay options looks decent to me. And I do basic maintenance myself, but busy parking lot is not a place where I would want to spend the whole day taking engine apart and maybe putting it back together
  2. Hey people, Basically, the bike brokedown, engine cut off, weird sound when coming to halt. AA trying fixing it - nothing. Dragged it to the local dealer's. Next day they say it's a low compression issue and it might cost 500-600 quid + depending on what they find + other things. So, considering that even if the bike was running, 2012 YBR with 13.5k miles, I wouldn't ask more than 900 quid for it anyway. So gambling asking them to repair doesnt make much sense to me. YBR being simple and generic bike I doubt I would sell no-starter for more than 100-200 quid that's provided if anyone would want it. So what do you think? Does it all make sense? I have no space or skills to be undertaking the repairs myself so that's out of the question
  3. So, one problem I have with a rear tyre is that it lets the pressure out, I would say in two weeks it goes down from 29psi to 18psi. I suppose I should go to the people who installed the tyre 6 months and ask to look at it? But the main concern now I found a slightly melted patch on a rear tyre and when i parked up it was still rather soft (see the attachment)-so the question is - why? Why some random spot decided to melt a little bit? My bike is YBR-125 and I just do the commute.
  4. I have MOT due in next couple of weeks and the only issue I am having is that twist grip is moving a bit. So my idea is to take it off and spray some hairspray in and that should fix the problem, however I was unable to to take it off - I could not remove ignition and acceleration cables that are connected to the grip and throttle. I tried spraying part of the handle bar and then slide it back in. It did help but there is still some movement and I doubt MOT ppl will like. So my question is - is there any videos showing how to remove twist grip and throttle ? All i need is to slide it off and slide it back in.
  5. Yeah, thats the point, thats why I added some pictures. I understand tightening it to the last mark could be an indicator that you need to change the chain, after all its a metal not a rubber band, but maybe you can push it beyond without problems?
  6. Thanks for the tips. As much as I would like to change it myself, unfortunately, living in a flat I dont have a place to mess around with it. Like i said, I just wanna find out more about this before going to the dealer's.
  7. Hi, Next week I am coming to 7000 miles mark at which according to manual servicing needs to be done. Now, I am yet to find my favorite servicing shop so I just simply dont want to get ripped off and I could use some independent opinion. I am thinking about changing the chain, but leaving sprockets alone. I probably have another 2 months tops before I tighten to the last mark, but i am afraid of the chain just snapping when it nears the end of a life. I added some pictures. Also i ride YBR125, doing around 200 miles a week. So, is there is any benefit changing the chain now? Or do I simply run it to the ground? If I did the chain at the same time as servicing, i potentially could save money on labour. http://s15.postimg.org/lfy6ltnon/IMG_20160407_180034.jpg http://s15.postimg.org/d1ijxqmnb/IMG_20160407_180056.jpg http://s15.postimg.org/qsn0zybl3/IMG_20160407_180112.jpg P.S. I am cleaning the bike and chain tomorrow, so dont worry about it
  8. I have Yamaha ybr 125 (2012) and one of the dashboard lights went out. I am trying to look up how to disassemble speedometer but I cant even find what bulb do I need in a first place. Maybe I am putting wrong terms in google search or something.
  9. Do you have any suggestions for something like pinlock glasses? I would like to avoid buying tinted visor. Or you just simply buy a random pair of glasses and ride the bike with open visor at like 50-60 mph?
  10. So, I finished the work, got myself on the bike, started - light on. Everything seems fine. 20 minutes later, I see the check light lit up, and one minute later the engine cuts off at the traffic stop. And I wasnt able to starting back again, the battery was low. So, it was either calling AA during rush hour at 5pm when all the dealers are closing soon, or bring the bike to the dealer's and see what they had to say. So, i went to dealers, they gave a look and said, it might be battery, rotten wiring or regulator. They told me they will give better look tomorrow around lunch. I thought - brilliant, I have plans today and I need my bike back asap, if it is not regulator, I will get my bike back tomorrow, even though it will cost me 60 pounds for the labor. Called few times during and after lunch, they kept saying check back in later, and on final call said something like "Oh we are very busy, because [excuse],[excuse], [excuse], so we will look into it on Monday or Tuesday". Mate, don't promise if you cant deliver. That pissed me off. If I knew it will take them like 4 days to look into my bike, I would have tried AA first, and if that wouldn't have worked, I could just ordered battery+wires+jumpstart kit all for less than 60 pounds and for few extra pounds I could have gotten regulator itself all, and that is all next day delivery. And its not like messing about with oil, transmission or some other dirty part of bike, it just electronics, simple, clean wiring. Im not happy like...
  11. A half a mile away from work and the engine light lit up. It is code 46 and according to the internets it is Power supply error to FI system. The bike seems to starts just fine. How concerned should I be? The bike is yamaha ybr 125, 2012
  12. I am looking for helmet and I came across feature some of them saying fog free. Now, how effective is that? Does fog free means mist free? Will it solve all my problems?
  13. Few months ago I passed my CBT on first try. It was okay experience. Rainy day so I was a bit shiting my pants when instructor keep telling me to do 50 miles on this wet and bendy road as I have no sense whatsoever at what angle I will slide off, you know the grip of bike on wet or dry road. The headset was too loud, I couldnt understand what he was saying half of the times, but I managed to follow the directions which is still something. Also, driving a 125 bike is way more extreme than I thought so, I cant imagine wanting anything more powerful than that. And I cant decide if I was very stressed or very focused, definitely not relaxed tho. I suppose you get used to it, dont you? Or maybe because I was too worried about the instructor and not crashing somewhere. Obviously, I made few mistakes like stalling in the hill and in roundabout I think I used back brake instead of front so when I would try to move it would cut off, but nothing major, I had few car beeps on small roundabout because for some reason it took like 20 seconds to get it started again.
