  1. If you're going to mount a camera on your bike (for safety/insurance), and it needs to go on the side of the bike, would it be best to mount it to the left or right of the bike? Obviously either can see stuff up ahead, but can only see whats going on to the side that its mounted. Left is going to see people pulling out of junctions on your side of the road or turning right across your path; Right is going to catch people from junctions to the right. Which is likely to catch more incidents or maybe more importantly more likely to catch the type of incident where fault could be hard to prove? cheers
  2. I was going to go with perfume As long as it doesn't contain chemicals that will disintegrate the lining or irritate your skin then I dont imagine its a problem. I figured that if my skin can withstand perfume so can the helmet. Never sprayed febreeze on myself to find out the answer to that one
  3. my helmet is only a month old, but has stunk since it got soaked through last week. If seems to be completely dry now but smells. I actually came on here to ask the same question
  4. ok I've not actually tried this on a bike, just a car, but I assume its the same (sorry if i'm talking out of my arse, I'm sure someone will correct me if i am) - Do you know where your blind spots actually are? Sit on your bike in a riding position (ie hands on the handlebars, with helmet on too) and get a friend/instructor to wander around behind/beside you til you lose them in your blind spot. Once you know where your blind spots are, THAT'S where you need to be looking. I guess it would vary on different bikes and depending how you have your mirrors set so bear that in mind.
  5. ah I'm starting to really like you guys - I thought you were going to tell me I had to spend hours rubbing some expensive leather protector into them before I could even go out in them . Baby wipes are the clandard cleaning equipment for anything in this house, so that should be easy enough, thanks!
  6. Owned these boots about a month now, obviously I'm still to test them in the harsh weather of winter but so far they are great! I bought them because I needed the extra height in the heels but they are the most comfortable boots of any type I've ever owned - to the point where I wear them upto 14hrs a day solid (so thats a lot of time I've worn them off the bike, and about 30hrs on the bike), they dont "look" like bike boots particularly so are fine with day to day clothes as well as bike gear. Nice and warm, good protection, the only complaint I'd have if I have to be really picky is that the zips have no sort of cover at the top so in theory I guess you could scratch the bike getting on if you were really unlucky. As for the benefit of the heel, which was WHY I got them (honest!) - I was worried I'd not get good grip through them but the heel is chunky so i can put all my weight through the heel if needed and not slip.
  7. I've just bought my first ever set of leathers (RST blade ladies, best fitting for my shape and fine for what I need) - do I need to do anything to protect them BEFORE I start wearing them? And do I just clean them when they are grubby or should I do it on a regular schedule? thanks
