  1. Does anyone know what bulb fits a Triumph Tiger 800 2014 please, just discovered my right front indicator not working. Thank You
  2. Hi, Thanks for the suggestions, only problem I have is that the right hand rail goes around the exhaust, so it is a different shape.
  3. I accidentally dropped my bike and it looks like the Pannier Rack has bent, any suggestions how i bend it back? I have a Triumph Tiger 800 and am unable to locate replacement pannier rack, it looks like the part is discontinued, so I think I need to try and bend the original bar back into place. Thanks
  4. Ok Many Thanks, any recommendations on Intercom? Seems to be a lot of choice
  5. Hi, Has anybody used Walkie Talkies to communicate while riding? When I was learning my instructor had a Walkie Talkie and the mic and i had the other walkie talkie in my pocket and a ear piece, so he could communicate with me when riding. I am thinking of doing the same with my son, who would like to do his CBT first then come for rides with me. I'm not sure on the bluetooth devices that stick to your helmet, i would prefer the walkie talkies. This way my son cant answer me back Many Thanks.
  6. Hi, For some reason I struggle to turn right out of a give way/junction I pull up and get rather anxious about shooting across the road into the ditch when I pull up to a junction in 1st and can see enough both ways I am ok and can pull out, but when I stop that’s when it happens. Even today I stoped and tried to pull out but had to put my right foot down to stop the bike going over. Other times I can turn right no problems! Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Kind Regards, Al
  7. I passed my big bike test last year and travel to work 2 - 3 times a week over about a 9 month period and I am still nervous about some corners on my commute. In particular there is one windy section for approx. 2miles, which has trees either side and not much sunlight, so it tends to have leaves, sticks, loose gravel and mud just where I want to ride (between the car tyres) so I tend to go around these corners on the left hand side and rather slowly I'm not sure if I will be able to gain enough confidence to push that little bit harder.
  8. Came off yesterday I have had my full bike license about 13 months and was riding a Kawasaki Vulcan s, then decided to change it for a Triumph Tiger 800 (which is a lot nicer to ride) I took the wife for a spin yesterday and she wanted to go to Bala, so I headed from Lake Vyrnwy over the narrow road to Rhos Y Gwaliau, we met a few cars but nothing to taxing. Anyway not far from the end the narrow road, we caught up with a car and another car came to met us, so the car we followed pulled in and stopped I changed down to first pulled the clutch in and started to crawl. The car coming to met us had passed, all seemed ok, then the car that had stopped in front stayed stopped in front and indicated left at the very last second so I could pass, so I tried to go around and went to wide, my front wheel went into the ditch and over we went. No one hurt and no damage except my pride We got off the bike and to be fair the gentleman was straight out of his car asking if we were ok and we was only trying to let us past, he did help me pull the bike out the ditch tho. Lesson learnt, I think I must have got too close to him hence forcing me so wide and not wanting to hit his car with my bike or the panniers, because they stick out a little bit.
  9. Hi Rant, I have had a look at the Givi set up and they don't seem to bad, not a bad price either. (Ive watched a few videos on you tube and the reviews seem ok) I suppose I am a bit dubious about the support rack that Givi use, on how it would look when I don't have the panniers attached. Would something like a universal saddlebag support work, then buy some saddlebags? (cheaper than the GIVI set up). I think a universal saddlebag support in black may look ok If I can find one, they all seem to be chrome!! Al
  10. Hi, Can anyone recommend any saddlebags plus supports for Kawasaki Vulcan S. The ones advertised in this country via Kawasaki cost approx £1000 which includes the supports etc. I tried these https://www.vikingbags.com/kawasaki-vulcan-s-motorcycle-saddlebags" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; when I had a online chat they said they didnt deliver to the uk, however he put me onto another website https://www.motorcyclehouse.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this seems legit right... however the same guy was having the online chat from both websites!!! when I mentioned this to him all he said was "WOW" I would have thought he would have been more polite considering I wanted to buy some saddlebags. Anyone any suggestions please? Thanks Al
  11. Hi, I passed my MOD 2 this morning. Thank you to all the advice I have received from everyone, I started a couple of posts "Keep Stalling" "Coming to a stop" I had a 2 hour lesson yesterday and I had trouble with stalling on the prvious lesson so I rode around the Carpark by my instructors, let the clutch out and the bike kept stalling it seemed to have lost it's bite, then I gave it some gas let the clutch out and hey presto off I go (stalled once on my lesson)(didnt stall on my test ) I had a 30min lesson before my test (where I followed the instructor to pick up on lifesavers, indicators, road position etc.) fortunateley for me my test route went 90% of the same way I am soooo pleased, I cant wait to take the L Plates of my 125 now. Thank you ALL again Al
  12. HI. Thanks for the tips, they are really usefull I will ask my instructor if we can go somewhere quiet fro some practices. Thank you for the You Tube video, that was very useful. I think at give Way/trafiic lights if the ground is level, I can just ease the clutch out slowly until the bike starts to move then use the throttle slowly ot if I am really nervous use the throttle to rev the engine slightly then ease out the clutch and not press too hard on the back brake. The more I think about it the more I am convinced I was probably trying to take off too quickly by releasing the clutch too quickly hence why I was stalling. I did wonder if I was releasing the clutch quickly while pressing the back brake (which I should still move tho slowly)
  13. Thanks for the replies, It sounds easy, I even think it should be easier and I am making it look difficult, then having stalled a couple of times it's embeded into my skull that at every junction I WILL STALL!!!!! Should I just release the clutch until the bike starts to move, before gently rolling on the throttle? Should I take my foot off the back brake completeley before releasing the clutch? (could this be causing me to stall? foot on the back brake while releasing the clutch?) Unfortunately this is something I can not practice on my 125!!!! My instructor seems to think that I am trying to rush things (Which I think he is correct) I am not sure how slow I am able to approach junctions (hence my awkard stopping) or how quickly I should exit if the road is clear (I dont want to be marked down for hesitation, it's seems like its a very fine line or do the instructors give a bit of leway when you approch junctions too slowly and exit them slower than you possibly should?) Thanks, Al
  14. I passed my MOD 1 Test a couple of weeks ago Yippeeee My MOD 2 is booked in a couple of weeks, however I had a 2 hour lesson yesterday and it was the worst I had riden durng all of my previous lessons I am a little bit aprehensive when I come up to junctions, just unsure how to approach them I think I am approaching them to fast then when I need to stop it looks uncomftorable and then Im not sure if I am in first or not. (I think I have convinced myself I am in 1st gear and try to carry on if nothing is coming) I spoke to my instructer afterwards and he told me slow everything down (but how slow is acceptable?) I would be better off stopping at give ways unless a 100% sure I can exit safely (I understand this but get extremely nervous when I approach Junctions) It doesnt help that when I have stopped at junctions I stalled the bike (this has not happend this many times before Maybe once on a lesson, but happend several times yesterday), I managed to convince myself by letting the clutch out the bike was not moving so I would add some throttle, then she would rev like crazy. Not sure what I am doing wrong, could my foot be on the back brake not letting the bike roll forwards when I release the clutch? I think after it happened a couple of times I got really nervous and to the stage where I didnt want to stop at junctions and hoped the road was clear. I would appreciate any further advice. I have another 2 hour lesson booked next week and another 1 hour lesson before my test. Thanks Al
  15. I failed my MOD 1 Test on the 18th May, I hit a cone on the avoidance.......... everything else had gone well. I was trying to make sure I got me speed right and I looked down at the speedo as I came out of the bend, then when I looked up it was too late to do the swerve and avoid the cone!!!!!!!!!!!! My instructor has tried to book another test date but the earliest dates are in the middle of July.... Does anyone know why so long? Thanks, Al
  16. Hi, I am learning on a Kawasaki ERB 650? (I think) While in Town (30mph) I am generally in 5th gear but when we get to a 40mph zone I sometimes change to 6th the bike seems to go ok with this. I have had one more lesson since and I have to admit I stopped at most junctions. If i did roll up to a junction that looked clear I would either be in 2nd or 3rd and slip the clutch out. However if I needed to stop I would do withmu left foot on the ground and clutch in, I would then put my right foot down change to 1st the put the back brake on again. My instructor didnt pull me up on this so I assume that it was ok, but if I wasnt sure of the junction or there were parked cars I would roll up and knock down the gears to 1st then stop, once or twice I did put my right foot down to make sure I was in first, again my instructor didnt pull me up on this either. I assume this is ok? Its trying to gain confidence and I think If I stop there is no harm in making sure Im in first before setting off (Right Foot down to check gears) Will I fail if I get into a habit of this? Many Thanks, Al
  17. Hi, Thanks for your replies. So when I approach a Give Way in a Town, it would be best to Stop. Put right foot down and make sure Im in First gear. or should i use engine braking, going through the gears or keep the clutch pulled in and knock the gears down until I get into first ( i assume its ok for me to roll up to the give way in 1st, (if the road was clear and I did keep going am i ok to carry on in 1st without stopping? or will the bike be a bit jumpy?)) Its just when I approach a junction, I keep forgetting which gear I am in especially while riding about town Thanks Al
  18. Hi, I had another "big bike" lesson on saturday which went ok!! however I am slightly confused!!!! When we rode through a busy town, via roads with cars parked near/close to junctions. Should I come to a stop at Give Way Junctions? How do i approach these safely? I have been riding up to them slowly trying to engage a low gear (I think 2nd) the making sure the road is clear and safe and carrying on or should I come to stop, then look and take off. If I do come to a stop would I fail if I stopped and the Give Way in 2nd then changed to first before taking off? I am trying to do too many things in a short space of time (brake/change gears/checks etc.) I find it difficult to concentrate on my surroundings and remembring which gear I am in let alone knocking it into first. Can you please advise me on the best way to stop, when I am in 6th gear in a town enviroment? Would I fail my MOD 2 if i stopped at a give way junction if I wasnt in 1st gear or if i put my right foot down to check which gear I am in? Thanks Al
  19. Hi, I have started my DAS training and was wondering, how long do i need to keep my foot on the back brake at junctions/traffic lights etc. If the lights change to green do I immediateley release the back brake then release the clutch or do i release both at the same time on a flat road/downhill obviously uphill I needto keep hold of the back brake. Im just wondering because my take offs are a bit slow. Do i need to keep the back brake pressed so that veichles behind me kow ive stopped? Regards, Al
  20. Hi Many Thanks for your reply. I did email the local authority, whom very kindly informed me that they do not have any specific bays to park motorbikes in, I would need to park in a car parking bay and display a Pay and Display ticket. They did however suggest the following:- PAY AND DISPLAY RECEIPT HOLDERS Put your receipt inside the plastic sleeve or box and hook it to the steering wheel, handle bars, visor, or rear view mirror Model 41 is for Pay Station receipts that must displayed in your vehicle. It includes the plastic coated steel cable combination lock and an open clear sleeve for the receipt. This will stop the wind from blowing it away and allow you to display it without sticking it to the handlebars or windshield where anyone can grab it. The lock is resetable by you. http://www.loginparking.com/images/100_P_D_Receipt_Holder.JPG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.loginparking.com/images/spacer.gif" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Model 41 - Pay and Display Receipt Sleeve Unfortunately I am unable to find anything I the UK or anything similar, just wondering if anyone can suggest something Thanks, Al
  21. Hi, Just wondering can anyone help. I would like to ride my bike to work but can't figure out how to display the Pay and Display Ticket. Can you get some form of holder to display the ticket securely. Many Thanks, Al
