  1. Hello folks! Just thought I'd pop in and say I am officially legal having past my CBT yesterday! Have a great weekend and thanks again for the encouragement this far! xx
  2. Thanks tuktuk, hopefully going to push past it this weekend...!
  3. and thus begins the start of you having biker friends and weirdo friends who don't understand FYI biker friends will never laugh at you unless: you can't start the bike because it turns out the kill switch has been turned on but 20 minutes later you haven't realised this you turn up looking like you wet yourself because you forgot your waterproofs and got caught in a showerror you run out of petrol somewhere (but we'll be laughing whilst we come rescue you ) actually we'll laugh athe you all the time... but not for trying new stuff that you've always wanted to do and you're now doing because that's a dick move If the last few weeks of encouragement on here are anything to go by, then I'm looking forward to meeting these biker friends- thanks Hoggs!
  4. Ye increased confidence in life generally is why I wanted to learn. I feel that if I can do this I can really do anything! I'd be curious to know why other people wanted to learn too.
  5. Apologies for the delay in replying! Thankyou all taking the time to write- I appreciate it so much! I haven't been wearing ear plugs, no, but I will start bringing them to my lessons. A friend and I went for dinner today and she laughed when I told her I was learning. Some people are so strange, instead of building you up make you feel a bit of a dickhead for trying something! O well! Thanks again everyone, I shall keep you posted, especially when I try a bigger bike. (I'm not sure what bike I am learning on as I just changed teacher- my old instructor wasn't explaining things to me clearly enough so I moved instructor last week, It's a Honda is all I know. I shall ask this weekend!) Have a nice week x
  6. Hi Hoggs, thanks! Ye Im curious to get on a bigger bike, a friend of mine said something similar to what you said- getting up the speed is easier. I will definately keep yous posted. It'll be slow and steady!
  7. Im not sure mas101 but that's reassuring you found it easier on a bigger bike. Congrats! I feel out of control any faster than 30mph I suppose. I can't even fathom what any faster would feel like but I'm pretty stubborn so I'll get there eventually... The roads aren't too bad. My instructor has me out and about on quietish parts. There's still traffic but it's nothing daunting.
  8. Thanks Shorty for your reply! No he is pretty patient thankfully...! I suppose it'll just come with confidence.
  9. Hello again! I wrote into the forum a little while ago after falling off the bike on the second lesson and all the words of encouragement here got me back on. So thankyou! Had a lesson this morning and have been on the road twice now. Wondering if you found the transition up to 50/60/70 mph? Atm I feel like a rocket at 30! My instructor suggested it might be an idea to go ahead and get a 125cc so I can increase confidence on my own too. Do many people make that transition with speed on the back of a weekly lesson? Getting my own bike isnt straightforward just at the moment...! Many thanks in advance! Laura
  10. Thankyou- yes, I think i have a tendency to overthink and overworry- that's why I wanted to learn in the first place...to overcome that, to challenge myself...My next lesson is on Friday- going to go early and enjoy it. Thanks again!
  11. Thanks for these posts guys- but how do you get over the 'shit I might die!' Im studying to work in healthcare and see kids in wheelchairs and stuff- it makes me feel selfish that I'm taking this risk when I consider myself to be so lucky...But i still want to learn...!
  12. O goodness! That is hilarious! Too much pressure!! Funnily enough, during my lesson I had people watching me from their driveway...maybe it's something about being distracted! It would have been awful to have had everyone from your work watching!
