  1. So back on track… I suppose there’s different versions of character, I’ve just put one of my bikes up for sale in a shop which is an F800GT it was a bike to ‘try’ before the bike I really wanted, bit like a ‘ last fling’. It had a ‘version’ of mild character which I thought it would have and didn’t disappoint. It rode so well I kept it 2yr as apposed to 6 months stop gap. But back to reality it did everything well just like my washing machine does but didn’t make my heart flutter. In the meantime I’ve now got my desired bike, an R nine t and very happy with its character.
  2. Put some pics up and see what there is to work from first. No point guessing.
  3. Interesting! I'm curious to what went wrong on your fleet? They do have niggles like any make have and I've modified a few things on mine, but I've never had any problems that stopped a ride or worried me and mines done a good lump of mainland Europe ridden very hard.
  4. On to a more realistic approach, if you talented enough, short of having it TIG welded you can go for the Lumiweld option. Unlike the other 'chemical' ideas Lumiweld is an aluminium solder that looks like the parent metal and is brilliant for the likes of trials bike crank cases. It's a low heat repair and very successful. Failing that and using adhesive repair pastes I've found no matter how clean and chemically washed the crack is, it will continue to seep as oil products find cracks like water always finds the lowest levels

  6. Buy a van with windows in that's not registered as commercial but MPV and the tax will be cheaper too.

  9. There's a strange couple gone through China and the likes clocking up something like 30,000 kms on a two wk650tr's (cf moto 650tr). If you Google the bike name it'll come up. They've just about covered and experienced everything that can ever happen in that area of the world and made a blog out of it.
  10. To pump tyres up, get an ALDI outfit for £89 To restore the jag you need 14cfm and a 100-150 tank on 3hp running off 16amp mains connector like a cooker type point. Will that do? I know that sort of thing as I restore vehicles for a living. The XJ that Mawsley is referring to is his Yamaha XJ900.....so a slightly smaller project.... Ah that answers that!

  14. Which way you coming from Mansfield to Raven, Tigcraft is coming from Holmfirth and meeting myself and Liverpool TR and Delaware Forest near Frodsham we are then riding down to Raven together, thought if you came via Sheffield you might meet up with Tigcraft and ride with him Any particular time and exact point meet?
  15. Hi Tigcraft Lad from Liverpool has suggested you, I and him meet up at Delamere Forest, Frodsham, then we ride down to Raven together to meet Fred and Linuxyeti Sounds interesting and do-able. What time and which specific point? Btw that link you sent me....unfortunately Im not on Facebook to see it.
  16. Very good subject and video. It looks very inviting and it also looks very busy. Wish you too wore more protection! Eric
  17. Yes in a fashion but as usual it's grown legs
  18. Your profile says Holmfirth, there is me from Bangor and another from Liverpool are you coming down the M56, I could contact the Lad from Liverpool you could perhaps meet up near Runcorn or Stanlow Services, I am meeting him either near A41 or Tesco's at Broughton Not thought about it as yet. Going through high peak sounds much nicer but I need to have a look at what my choices of route are. If it's pissing it down before I set off then I won't bother but if it's raining whilst out then fair do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Still on for Sunday subject to weather??
  20. It reminds me when also Halfords was proper shite in the seventies and that's turned around very well. Now a market leader.
  21. They're black and round and stop you riding around on the rims They way my tyres operate I be safer on the rims LOL! Keep thinking that one day I'll make use of those crap space savers nobody ever wears out and stick some on a bike to enter 'the dark side' as it's done in the US Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
