    Only 3 coming??????????

What is going on with folk - We used to have great turn-outs.

It can't be the cost - ITS FREE!

Not difficult to get to (A1/A14 Junction).

Maybe it is limited to people who actually ride bikes / like bikes / like folks who like bikes / like having a good time / like meeting others / etc.

Maybe it is time I gave up trying. 😩

Tis a shame, it's just bad timing and distance for me IE both together.

    Hi all!!

New member to this forum, and a new member to the best community in the world.

What are your guys and gals opinions on the BMW R Nine T ??

I’ve heard mixed reviews on the comfort of the bike and if it’s a decent bike to go for.

    what’s your thoughts??

My thoughts, if you like it everyone else's thoughts are irrelevant, if your talking reliability that's another thing but taste and  preferences are personal and no one can help you with that 😁

  3. I've paid a lot for the road, when safe to do so I use as much of it as required to make the bend as straight as possible 😁

I was also going to add never take position over safety but was beaten too it.

Going into a bend to fast will make the bend slower cause your going to muck up apex, and exit and possibly your trousers, it's a learning curve though and things happen, learning from mistakes is quicker when they are your own.

The old Mini Cooper had space enough for spare wheel. So they remade the car twice as big and forgot to make room for a spare?

That's easy when the original mini wheels were re purposed from a shopping trolley 😂

I find that any forecast further away than 24 hours is barely better than a wild assed guess. Forecasting seems to have got worse now its all being done by high powered computers. GIGO I guess.

Yup and even then its still not to be trusted, we booked into a hotel in Glencoe on the morning we were setting off to go camping, severe weather warning, rain, gale force winds, bridges closed to high sided etc etc.

Glorious weekend, no wind and not a drop of rain....

you car unfortunately at the time of manufacturing didnt factor in the potential problems or the first owner was either to stupid or tight fisted or just removed it them selfs to either the next car (which really works) or sold on fleecbay.

But realistically thats no difference....you could have been a OAP/disabled etc that couldnt do it anyway even if there was a kit of not...but even if the kit fails to do it as the tyre/wheel is too damaged its still the same outcome.

realistically the service they provide is vehicle broken down help / recovery...they failed to do both for a premium you pay for.

Now when you got the policy many moons ago it may have it in as in the typr of package- recovery, road side assistance and home side assistance, then there are additional or excluded benefits.

now over the years on renewal they generally smallen the benefits, add more exceptions and up the price unknowingly as possible.

Im waiting for the electric car/van exclusions to take into effect as they have even more problems of what or how you recover these vehicles, then add a massive bill to that policy to save the planet...

firstly you really need to see the upto date policy terms and conditions you agreed to. then send a letter officially to the complaint dept.

could try to take them to courts over the matter, if you find they somehow failed to provide you with the service then just out of principle you could but medium to low chances you get back the money die to small print details and even less likely previous payments.

A fair few already have limits on vans, length height weight etc, I had a lwb high top that was over all of those the AA still arranged for a big recovery vehicle from a third party, normal guy turned, laughed and said that's not going to fit.

I've just realised I'm sounding like a frontman for them 😂 I'm not, but tbh they've never let us down, we do change to who is cheapest and will cover everything, just been lucky every time it's been needed it's been with them, over the years there have been many call outs, furthest was from Middle Of nowhere top of a moor way past Perth, relay all the way back, engine internals decided to leave van unannounced.

  7. You need to check the small print that you agreed to because as sure as eggs are eggs you also agreed that you read and understood the contract and part of that will say they can change what they like...

No eggs were harmed during this statement......

We have the AA we used them for this a few weeks back, no spare, useless tin of magic that turned out to be not so magic, I plugged it temp to get wife and car off A1, AA turned up and did a better temp job once me and the traffic wombles got it to a safer location.

They were fully aware of no spare and guy that turned up was great.

  8. You should have no issues doing a das as for bike what ever floats your boat, do you need the 1000, 600 is almost as quick and a  lighter to flick around.

Are you after sports or commuter is it just for fun ?

One thing I wasn't expecting, my left hand / wrist is hurting today! We spent a lot of time on slow control,  getting that clutch feel, keeping the revs even and using that rear brake,  harder than it looks!

Using muscles and tendons a lot, also the bars and controls aren't really setup for an individual, something you can sort when you get your own bike.

That's interesting, it's easy to  compare ourselves with others, but I don't think it helps much.  I've always looked at myself first, which is just as well, as the only other learners today picked it all up really easily and was out on the road in the afternoon no problem!

To quote monty python "we are all individuals" 😂

I was fine with CBT, took 3 goes to do mod 1🤔 and passed mod 2 no faults.

I had my 125 for a year for gaining experience, some go straight to big bike, I like you was In no rush.

Absolutely, they seemed pretty happy with my progress,  I was getting it eventually.  Just need to relax a bit and give it another go, I'm sure it'll be easier next time. I'd literally never sat on a motorbike before;  the coordination will take a while, but it will happen. I'm not even sure if there's any specific advice I can ask the forum, each subsequent exercise just took a bit too long to get right.  I'll process it and go again!

No advice will really help you with the actual riding bit yet, other that relax, which is easy to say and hard to do, being tense on the bike is bad for control..

When I did my CBT it was a mix of newbies and re sits, one woman gave up halfway through, more from the stress she put on herself because she wasn't doing as well as she wanted to be doing and falling behind the rest, place weren't pushing her and we're happy to have one guy just for her.

Hopefully another day and you will feel better but tbh if it takes another 2 apart from the financial hit it's irrelevant.

Well,  did the CBT, did okay,  but have to come back for another day (another full day at half price,  so not too bad on that score).

Basically took too long getting the hang of each manoeuvre,  clutch control was a bit iffy at times.  Just need a bit more practice, ran out of time to get she enough for the road section.  Going back in two weeks.  Had a great time though,  was definitely getting there,  should be good for the next one. Not as easy as it looks!

Bit disappointed,  but it's not put me off, there no rush.

Better to take longer and actually learn something than them just shove you through and straight out on the road.

There was a big discussion about these very tyres just recently on another forum and the consensus was the Dunlop was a good tyre. Metzlers have the rep but like Pirelli they are now Chinese owned and apparently a lot of their tyres are made there. I had Metzler Roadtec on my last bike and they were pretty good until they weren't.  They'd go from ok to down to the wear strips in about 400 miles. Whatever you're happy with.

It's not completely Chinese owned although they are collectively over the 50% threshold with various Chinese company's which probably all boil down to state owned 😂

Italian gov took steps to stop them actively being run by Chinese.

They have manufacturing in china but also extensively around Europe, also south America and Russia 😂 that may be state owned now 🤔
