  5. I see, good idea..........but Hull is a bit far for me and it's difficult for me to commit to anything at the moment in any case (bloody NHS!)
  6. I did an FBoS course a few weeks back..........well organised, very good presentation and 'practical' exercises, recommended! Basically it teaches you what to do if you come across a bike 'crash', such as assessing the situation, making safe, what action to take and how and when to remove a helmet, also CPR, logrolling and recovery positions. Everyone on the course I attended found the course interesting and beneficial, hopefully we will never need to use our new found skills but who knows?
  7. Interested for sure just can't say yes or no right now.......where's the 'maybe' option for the poll?
  8. Bike on Abba Stand.....small bottle jack under the sump somewhere (block of wood to protect the sump), jack up just enough to lift the front wheel off the ground, secure the bike with axle stand/blocks of wood or whatever is handy http://andyw-inuk.smugmug.com/photos/416910906_8nMMU-L.jpg Larger version Abba stands are bloody excellent Photo of mine in use (pre BMW days! ) with a better shot of one of my favourite purchases ever!!!! http://andyw-inuk.smugmug.com/photos/416903066_Kjy8B-M.jpg Larger version
  9. A few photos from today http://cvam.smugmug.com/gallery/6301278_3VamZ We didn't do the bridge crossing, the thought of crawling along over the bridge and to Chepstow at sub 20mph just didn't appeal!!!!......went for a proper ride instead!
  10. I agree......... ....any sudden change of direction i.e. swerve stands a good chance of ending in tears and so does practising such maneuvers so going back to what Hoody said, observation is your best defence. That said, we can all make mistakes and things can go wrong, effective breaking is a good thing to practice but otherwise experience is what you'll have to count on. As I said we all make mistakes......look at my avatar! Cleaning

Autoglym Motorcycle Cleaner for the general wash, all over....you spray it on, leave a few minutes, hose off. Tooth brush/small brushes and parafin to get at stubborn greasy bit (chain fling etc), then wash the bike with Autoglym Shampoo. Hein Gericke bike cleaner is as good as Autoglym and cheaper ACF50.....brill! Like Pete247 said be carefull, it spreads/creeps and you REALLY don't want it on brake disks/calipers Scottoiler FS365 is good as well Cleaning your bike :-0 How to become a Cleaning Freak...
