  1. If you look at Bennetts facebook page they have really stirred up a hornets nest https://www.facebook.com/bennettsbike
  2. Just been out to have another look at it. I think they must need to be folded under, i can't think of how else the pannier straps can fit if the tailpack flaps hang over the sides. I've come to the conclusion of bollocks to it, i'm just gonna bungy the f*** out of it
  3. How do you fit oxford first time tailpack AND panniers? I can fit them individually, but I cant figure out how to fit them at the same time? The main problem is the side flaps for the tailpack can't sit down the side of the bike because the straps for the panniers are in the way.
  4. I mainly commute but do go for long rides a couple of times a month. I commute year round but not in the rain if I can help it. So I just want a set of tyres for milage rather than performance, going to stick with Bridgstones as that's what's already on the bike. Sizes are Front: 120/60ZR17, Rear: 160/60ZR17. I've only been riding for a year so still don't really ride fast as I don't have the confidence to really go in fast on corners
  5. Need to replace my tyres for the first time because the front is down to the wear blocks and the back has a flat spot. Roughly how much should a new tyre cost (fitted)? Just been quoted £120 front and £130 rear. £250 seems a lot of money for two tyres (or maybe i'm just tight!)
  6. I have a set of motorola T-series radios and want to use them for bike to bike communication. I'm having trouble finding a headset for them. They are the radios with a single 2.5mm Jack instead of the two pins for plugging into the radio. Failing a specific headset for these radios, are there any headset which are recommended (I may buy new radios to suit)
  7. I've put in a new battery but the lights still dim when the indicators are on, so how do I check the wires with a multimeter? I have done a visual check but couldn't see anything obviously broken/loose etc.
  8. After charging and giving a good ride, I checked the voltage output with a multimeter, it was at about 12V without engine running and 13/14v with the engine running. Went to ride it a week later and the battery had drained again. voltmeter reading was about 6-8v. Is my battery shagged? I can borrow an optimate, is it likely to give my battery a bit more life (i'm skint at the mo)
  9. I left the battery on charge all night. It fired up first time and everything worked. Went out for a 70 ish mile ride today with my bro, but he said that when I was indicating my brake light was dimming with the indicator. I think the bike may have been running all the electrics straight off the battery instead of the alternator?
  10. Haven't ridden my bike for about two weeks, tried to start it today and the battery was dead. All the dash lights came on and needles swing round but not enough to turn over the starter motor. got the wife to push me to bump start it (she is well trained ) it ran ok but none of the dash was working, so no lights or speedometer. I gave it a run for 15 mins to my parents, used my dads charger for 1/2hr which gave it enough power for the dash but still had to bump start it, then the dash stopped working again. As there are no electrics when the engine is running, does this mean there is a problem with the alternator?
  11. That's the noise my bike made today. I had ridden at "70" down the dual carriageway and slowed for the roundabout. As I was going round the roundabout the engine was chugging and wasn't picking up, a bit like a misfire or lack of fuel. There is still 1/3 of a tank of fuel left. When I stopped at work I gave a a little rev in neutral and it sounds a bit rough. Any ideas???
  12. By the wonders of modern technology...... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3356/3529267762_918f644393.jpg?v=0 As I said the metal parts are identical, just the rubber part on each side. Is it just to dampen any vibration/noise?
  13. I am in the middle of changing my chain and sprockets on my Suzuki Bandit 600 The front sprocket that I have been supplied is different from the one that's on there. The original sprocket has a rubbery ring stuck on either side of it whereas the new one is plain metal. The metal parts of both look identical. Is this right? I suspect it is just cheaper to make the part out of metal and omit the rubber part.
  14. Is that because it broke or just because you didn't trust it?
  15. Does anyoneride their bike with the chain joined with the split link? I have heard that they are dangerous, but why would a chain manufacturer supply a split link if it is not suitable for the job?
