  1. I think you're right about the hilux, it is i think the more likeable pickup. Less in my search range. Thanks for the help all
  2. I had another look at Parkers. Screenshots show this... So, say a 2003 L200, weighing in at 1.7 tonnes (according to auto trader) would be £270 tax a year, flat rate, right? Seems £270 is worst case scenario for what I have in mind. Is it as simple as that and I just missed it?
  3. Yes, its flown by but at the same time it hasn't
  4. Tou don't want people questioning her parentage bo do you. I "borrowed" an L200 warrior must be 15 years ago from Skanska to collect a set of wheels from the other side of the country. It was dark and lashing it down and I did some accidental off roading somewhere out in the sticks. Had an absolutely brilliant time even though it was slow and handled like a turd on the road. Oh I don't worry about that
  5. Also, many are well over 150,000 miles on the clock, some hit 250,000. They seem like work horses. A good sign, right?
  6. I appreciate the comments by the way Its a pick up or an suv ... I'm sure my 10 month old daughter (and my dog) would prefer being dropped off in a pick up rather than a Quashqai!!!!
  7. I've been driven in a hummer .. again while in the USA. Like a tank!
  8. Back when I was 18 i went to good old 'Merica and drove a big old truck, very briefly. Was massive. I was in Texas so maybe this is where it all started for me! I'd love to drive one on the roads here
  9. Sorry to disappoint but you're welcome to give us your chat up lines anyway
  10. Thays good to know, thanks. I'd be looking for one that has some sort of service history, as you would with car buying.
  11. I have seen that episode, its great, although I don't intend to do that much damage to it I think that sort of stuff helps with the pricing!
  12. That's a smidge over what I currently pay for a 1.4 fiesta!!!!
  13. I did look at parkers, it was explained well there but even the responses in this thread show the difference in information, all be it not a big difference so thats reassuring.
  14. Looks nasty. And expensive.
  15. Howdy, So, I have always wanted to own a pickup truck, not because I own a company or business, but just that I want one for personal use. I've been shopping around online to get some ideas - nothing flashy - just after something reliable. However I'm getting a bit mixed up with the road tax costs. Information online hasn't been the clearest and I keep getting different numbers. From people who know or have one of the below, what's the road tax cost for one of these for personal use: Ford Ranger (2004 - 2006) Nissan Navara (2003 - 2006) Mitsibishi L200 (2003 - 2006) Isuzu Rodeo (2005 - 2008) Mazda B2500 (2006 - 2008) thanks!
  16. I used to do a similar commute... all on motorways .. was awful, just awful! I'd say it depends on how you feel about the job and what the journey is like.
  17. I see your Spaceballs and raise you with Airplane
  18. I think it's on Netflix, but there is a series where somebody visits dark tourism spots around the world. It's called Dark Tourist. Might be up your street!

A slight tangent, but a while ago my dad had someone phone up his work shop asking to speak to person who pays the phone bill. My dad replied "we don't have a phone" ... they then apologised and hung up
  20. I like the ISS App. Get some good photo's and views
  21. My wife left me recently due to my Linkin Park obsession.... But in the end it doesn't even matter.
  22. Didn't use the big box in the end, used a more manageable size one I wouldn't explain it well so I took pictures. The metal bolts/nutd were what held it on. Haven't had any problems. Nothing too heavy in the box though, but it's been useful.
  23. Is Mid-Kent out of the question? Possibly doable, depending on bike and price, as would have to factor in transport. What's the bike? SV650S (2000). No mot but had 2 advisories; rear brake pads and steering head bearing. In all honesty it's been in the garage for a year. I start it every now and then and run it up down the street ut it's wasted in there. Arrival of my first born put a stop to riding. It's got extras .. heated grips, top box and other bits I'd throw in too. It's also... yellow
