  1. Cheers for that, exactly what I needed thanks very much Dan
  2. Early ZXR750's have a belt driven alternator (generator) and the belt on mine needs tensioning,I was wondering if anyone on here knew how to adjust it as when the bike is running the belt squeals when the headlights are switched on for the first couple of miles,so it needs adjusting. Dan
  3. Hi guys The alternator belt on mt ZXR750 H2 has started to squeal when cold as I turn the lights on,anyone know which bolts to loosen so I can adjust it? Thanks in advance Dan
  4. well if you'd said that in this thread it may of helped you can make payments to paypal via credit card. you just need to register it with your account so when you buy with paypal, it automatically deducts money from your card or bank account or you can use it to add funds to paypal. Sorry about that Rosszx9r,its just Ive only had the bike for a week and now its damaged and I cant use it so was getting desperate about getting a screen, plus I posted it everywhere and this is the one thread where I didnt update the situation.all sorted now. cheers Dan
  5. well this wasn't too hard to find Yeah found that about 3 days ago, trouble is you cant order over the phone,as I said i'm up to my paypal limit as I paid for the bike via paypal and needed to get one from somewhere I could pay by card over the phone, got one from skidmarx though so will be sorted soon enough, cheers for looking though Dan
  6. Hi guys My zxr fell on its side on the drive and broke the screen (into a zillion bits) ,does anyone know if any other screens will fit off later zxr's coz the ones for the H1and H2 are a real pain to find Cheers Dan
  7. GOOD NEWS,turned out to be spark plug centre that had blown out and on having a closer look seems the plug wasnt overtightened and nothing seems odd other than the plug must have been one that got past NGK's quality control, got the threaded bit out easily enough with a reverse thread thingy, put road can on and all running well, cheers for the suggestions. Dan
  8. have you swapped cans, is it fitted correctly.. blow back... The rae can was on the bike when I got it and is still on the bike, will put road legal one on in the morning,I really am hoping its something simple but not gonna count my chicken yet, will see in the morning. Cheers Dan
  9. Bought a ZXR750 yesterday, rode bike home (55 miles) but on the way home tonight I opened her up just a little at about 40mph just to pick up to 50 mph and then all of a sudden bang bang bang, noise is engine speed related,no extra vibes, thought it was exhaust manifold blowing so checked with a torch when I got home (10pm) cant see anything obviously wrong, did sound similar to an engine being run with a spark plug missing and is coming from the front of the bike, seems to still idle ok apart from the noise, any ideas, got bike off ebay so I'm a bit stuck, gonna whip the tank off tomorrow so if anyone has any idea what I should be looking for I'd very gratefull Cheers Dan
  10. HI guys, just a quick update.bike is in the garage as of today,am working away for a few days next week so the garage has her for the week, bought new X-ring gold chain and sprockets, having carbs stripped, cleaned and balanced plus a full service, plugs, oil and filter etc have also got an anti dive unit rebuild kit and new fork seals and the new headstock bearings have bedded in now and need adjusting so have asked them to sort these whilst they have the bike so I'm hoping she'll be perfect when I get her back, gonna cost me close to £300 but you dont see many 25 year old GPZ900R's around so I reckon its worth spending the money to get her right, will let you all know what she's like when I get her back. Cheers Dan
  11. Cheers to everyone for your help, gonna book the bike in at my local independant mechanics for a carb clean and balance, probably worth getting her serviced whilst shes in bits just to be on the safe side, will keep you all posted on how things progress. Cheers again Dan
  12. Yeah I clean, relube and adjust the chain about every 2-3 weeks, its something I'm a bit picky about having had a chain snap on me some time back,I'm guessing its carbs off time then? Cheers Dan
  13. Hi guys and gals Ive got a kawasaki gpz900r A1 (1984) rides lovely exept when doing below 50mph and revs are below 4000rpm,the bike seems to pull then back off over and over making it very jerky at these speeds, anything from 60 mph (4000rpm in top) she pulls hard and clean but below that I have to be very very gentle with the throttle and still cant get her to hold a constant speed,Ive asked on the gpz900 owners club and they seem to think it sounds like the pilot jets are blocked, does this sound right and if so would this mean Its gonna be a carbs off job or is there anything I can put in the tank that would help? The chain and sprockets are in good condition with the correct amount of tension too. cheers in advance Dan
  14. TOP MAN I owe you a pint mate, will get the dremel, drill and rivet gun out over the next week or so,will post some pics when I get it done Cheers again Dan
  15. Ive got a GPZ900R with a motad nexxus stainless exhaust system,it sounds nice and works well but the end can is a little on the long side,so I want to shorten the can itself,I am led to believ that changing just the can shouldnt mean I have to rejet but motad no longer makes exhausts for my bike and as I'm not keen on replacing the whole system ive been toying with the idea of cutting a 4 inch section out of the can and internals and either having the two bit welded back together or wrapping the shortened bits with alloy sheet and rivetting around the ends so giving it a bit more of a modern look, any ideas if this would work? Ive looked at how the can fits to the collector box and it has 2 pipes going into the can after the join so a simple slip on can wont fit? http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss185/dantheman779/Photo-0118.jpg Any help or advice would be very much appreciated Many thanks Dan
