1. For sale, 2016 model Yamaha NMax 125cc scooter with just 2035, yes 2035 miles and Yamaha main dealer service history. The scooter has Yamaha top box, colour matched, and Yamaha hand guards. These were all fitted when it was new, I have the paperwork for these (I have, I think, *all* the paperwork). I have had an optimate lead fitted at it's latest service, which is conveniently located in the underseat space. With the underseat storage space and the top box, the scooter can easily carry your work clothes, laptop, sandwiches + lock, chain and cover. I bought the scooter for commuting into the city centre, something which it is superb at. As I prefer a full size motorcycle for this, I can't really justify keeping the scooter and would welcome a bit of space back in the garage. I didn't check the exact figure when taking the pictures but I'm getting well in excess of 100MPG - and I like to get briskly up to speed. I've found parts and Service costs at Yamaha are surprisingly cheap, if you have any nouse you could easily service the scooter yourself in the main. It's crazily economical on petrol, dirt-cheap road tax and the insurance was excellent. All in all, excellent value for money to buy and run. Acceleration is fantastic and it has a good top end too, will get me to about 70mph. Eventually. This is probably due to the variable valve timing, like BMW shift cam, about which I know nothing but you can find out via the internet. Obviously it's forte is being super nippy, slicing through traffic and mega convenience. The less good aspect. It's got a couple of marks so I will point these out. Right side footboard has a scuff (pictured) Left side body has some scratches (pictured). Luckily I honestly believe these are minor and do not detract from the excellent condition of the scooter. If you see the scooter I am sure you will agree. Also I reckon you can buy genuine Yamaha body panels and fix this up for such a low cost, if you want it immaculate. I'm not mechanically minded so it's left as-is. Price is difficult to set due to the ultra low mileage. Most scooters seem to have 10k miles or served a spell with Just Eat. Given the overall excellent condition, the Yamaha main dealer service history (most recent service just done), the top box and mileage, I think it would be a great buy at £2500. Is for sale on other forums. Will probably be going auto trader soon as well, I need to reclaim the space and some money More pictures here. Happy to do videos or whatever. I'm in Stockport btw.
2. https://pyramid-parts.com/products/fdk?variant=40215272711 FDK-016-062 ( 46x58.1x9.5/11.5 + Dust ) I was sure these would fit a triumph explorer, now I am sure that they won't. One oil seal had to be sacrificed to establish this so not sure how useful one oil seal and two dust seals are. Also fork bush set, untouched but incorrect. https://pyramid-parts.com/pages/fork-bush-kits-2 OB26 50 x 46 x 12 Outer Guide Bush IB06 47.7 x 45.7 x 20 Inner / Slide Bush All free to anyone, if you pay postage
3. Yes, absolutely.
4. Have you heard of a guy called Muddy Sump? He is ex triumph, comes to you and does a cracking job. I highly recommend, he does the service on my Explorer Only problem is he travels round and does work in areas so you can't necessarily get him at short notice
5. But conversely they supply shoulder and elbow protectors in every jacket? And they have a "recommended", i.e. one that fits, back protector, why not just supply it? Particularly given 95% of people who buy the jacket go on to buy the "recommended" back protector...
6. I'm looking at a new jacket, commuting has made my current one look a bit grim, as it had hi Vis on the sleeves, now begrimed and not coming clean. Anyway, looked at an Alpine stars and a Held, both come minus the back protector. Seems like we're being asked to pay twice. Or is there a valid reason I'm missing?
7. I had one and found it very difficult to ride due to the fuelling. I mean I found it borderline dangerous. Once you get away from the showroom I'm not sure you will find it comfortable. The saddle slopes strongly towards the tank. My review
8. You are allowed to filter and it is referenced in the Highway Code
9. Honda cbf1000 all day comfort with an upright seating position and no long stretch to the bars, I found. Get a MK2, Honda improved the stator on the mk2 and this was the Achilles heel of the Mk1 https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/honda/cbf1000/2010/
10. Is it significant that @raesewell says pair the phone as mobile phone 2? And don't forget @Stu I am now talking about when I only have the mobile phone connected and the TomTom is left at home. I can't use the phone now but as it's the only device connected to the headset, there's no problem with priority is there?
11. Don't know if OP had any success. Pairing my phone to my Sena as second mobile phone has not helped me. Now when I am not using the TomTom, but just want to be able to use my phone from the headset, it doesn't work. It's definitely paired as mobile phone 2. When it connects, Sena says "device connected" (not "phone connected" as I would expect). I can't hear anything, no ringing for calls, can't play music to my headset. Man, it's difficult.
12. Used graphite powder as we had just the thing at work. Seems to have done the trick.
13. It's getting more difficult to get the key in the lock of my Givi top box. The top box is pretty new, couple of months old. The key now only goes in bit by bit and it feels stuck. All I can think of is that the lock barrel needs oiling. Any advice? 3in one? Wd40? Graphite powder?
14. It's a pain isn't it? Tech, when it's against you is a freaking nuisance Try what @raesewell suggests, my calls were showing up on the GPS but I couldn't hear them last time I went out. I've deleted all pairings and connected them up like Rae says, will hopefully try this tomorrow, see if it fixes my woes.
15. Gerontious is right, apart from the gear oil part
16. Not sure I agree entirely but I would say that, I started this thread. I justsigned up for IAM next year and to pass the test, I need to think about these things. For example Counter steering may be the way we all go around, and always have done but if it's not something that you have thought about, you may not choose to press harder on the inside grip when the corner is tighter than it appeared. Rev matching is a nice to have, to smooth out a downshift. I don't see any problems with striving to improve all the time and be someone who wants to be a thoughtful, reflective rider. If others are happy not to think about these things, fine
17. Don't think it is play in the cable but I will take a look. For me, I want a really smooth down change to match my well practiced upshift. Upshift is easy. Down shift from 6-5-4 is easy, probably due to the tolerance between the gears, for want of a better description. So the problem is downshift smartly from 4-3-2-1. I'm confused about the timing and overlap of the various elements, and how much blip to give. I guess it's practice practice practice.
18. I can't seem to master the throttle blip, down shift business and wondering if anyone has any advice. I think my problems are with the timing, and with how quickly to let out the clutch.
19. You need a sat nav! I have one for sale Very kind offer but I don't Stu. I need an intercom system that I can use with a car driver, without them having to wear a headset
20. Great topic. I was wondering how to keep in touch with my partner when we are travelling, me on the bike and her in the car. Obviously I want some kind of always on intercom, can't ring her up when I'm at a roundabout and can't see which way she went...I am going to try out helmchat, that may be the solution
21. Sorry to dredge up an old thread but this appears to be fairly authoritative. Slowlycatchymonkey did you get to go camping, do you have any further feedback?
22. What's your view on flip front helmets, I've always thought that they are less safe than a full face, and tend to remind me of the IAM observer on the GS ... I wear specs, now wondering if life is any easier with one of these style helmets.
23. Wow Very impressive indeed, looking great. I know that it's a project for your own satisfaction so it's immaterial in most ways, but Do you have any idea how many hours you have put in to this so far?
