  1. I've only been riding for a week or 2 and have already had a few close calls from people not seeing me or people getting the hump because I've got past them. I'm the sole provider of my family and we have a 16 month old boy and those close calls have made me wonder what would happen to them if something bad happened to me. Does anyone here just purely ride on a track and not the road? Could get a trailer for my car and just tow it to track days for £150 or so for the day.. Just an idea. I love riding and love the thrill but don't trust anyone else on the road.
  2. Just bought Total Control so will have a read.
  3. Clear out the shed and keep it in there. Or find a garage for rent in your local area that someone doesn't use. Can probably be had for about £40 a month unless your in a major city. I'd probably feel better with it in the shed though.
  4. Thanks just messaged Cockercas. Might book a Ron Haslam track day then get a track bike over the winter that needs a bit of work.
  5. Actually just seen the price includes insurance. Might be better to do that first instead.
  6. Well just looked on the Ron Halsam school site: https://www.haslamraceschool.com/premier Use their bikes and their equipment. I'm assuming insurance is included in that price or would I still need to source my own insurance?
  7. As some of know I passed my full test license last week. So far loving the bike and done about 300 miles since Sunday last week. Racing is something I always wanted to get into and have done track days in cars and built a track spec Astra VXR, well almost, circumstances changed and had to give up on that. Really want to eventually get into bike racing but will just start with normal track days. So my question is what advice does everyone have? Get more experience on the road before going on a track or is that irrelevant? I plan on doing a track day before the summer is up and do lots of track days next summer. Can track riding improve your road riding or is it a completely different riding style? Thanks
  8. Well can you explain to the OP the reason for booting them out and blocking them? If a group did that to me I would think similar and would think twice about joining even if invited. Saundersr2810 start your own group! I did that now have 500 members. You could call it keeping away from the Coast Did think of doing that but don't know anyone else with a bike so it'll just be me haha. I'll send you a message.
  9. Either number 1 when they are still a bit hard and crunchy or number 11.
  10. I might have gone a bit How enlightening. Oranges are not the only fruit! Green or yellow bananas? Though I do sometimes like the taste of the slightly gone off black ones... maybe I'm weird
  11. The urge to block you from here with no explanation for the lulz was quite high.... Yeah well wouldn't bother me....... sv650 iirc You would indeed be correct.
  12. Oh this lot will argue over the colour of an orange, I wouldn't worry about it Definitely orange though some of them look yellow.
  13. What was it like and how much was it? Would love to get into track days when I'm more confident. Do they cater to track beginners? Been in a car just not on a bike. Don't be like that mate, rear brakes have always been a hot topic Many people swear by them, other don't see the point. Its personal preference at the end of the day as you ride your best when doing something you're comfort with. Now put the thread back, sit back and watch everyone battle it out. Its a spectator sport watching the forum flare up like this, not a dig at you so don't take it personally!! I don't want to mislead anyone or start any arguments and seeing as almost all the replies mentioned the rear brake I gathered that it hit a nerve with a few people.
  14. Okay I'm wrong. Deleted original post and can a mod delete the thread please thanks
  15. Regarding the emergency stop. I was taught that I did not need to use the rear brake when doing the emergency stop. Both me and the other person doing the mod 1 on that day didn't use our rear brake and neither of us got a minor for it (different examiner as well). Please be aware this is not something I just decided, it was what I was told. Regarding the comment of "you pay hundreds of pounds for their knowledge etc, do not ignore them". I know, I did pay hundreds of pounds and did not ignore them, that's why I passed it on because I was told that using it or not using it is fine. At the end of the day this was my experience and people should listen to their own individual instructors, this was just to help people prepare.
  16. Joined the group this morning, introduced myself with a picture of my bike and was then removed from the group for with no explanation? Strange Edit: They've now just blocked me too from seeing the group. Must of upset them.
  17. Just wondered if there are any friendly local clubs in or around Eastbourne? Newly passed and looking for some nice gentle rides out during the evenings or some weekends, nothing stupid.
  18. Might be a stupid question but I'm after a different visor for my IXS helmet. Struggling to find a visor dedicated to my make of helmet so will any others fit or does it need to be am IXS visor?
  19. Got myself a 2010 sv650s. Black fully faired. Can't wait to ride it but got to wait till tomorrow for the tax haha
  20. Just discovered we well Optimate5 chargers at work haha. Just picked one up for £45 so all sorted thanks
  21. Im assuming I can use a normal car 12v battery charger? Doesn't charge at too high an amperage?
  22. Looking for a cheapish battery charger. Saw this https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/buy/Doctor-Bike-Dr950-Battery-Optimiser/5582.htm But someone mentioned to get a charger that also charges gel batteries and not just lead? Any idea what battery would be in a 2010 sv650 and also if I bought a new battery would it be gel or would I be okay with a lead one?
  23. Will a disk lock fit rear and front or are there specific ones? Will most disk locks fit a 2010 sv650?
  24. My concern is at home. Im not worried at work as its always in sight and within at least 50m of myself or a work colleague. At home it'll be kept in a garage but wouldnt take much for them to get in to be honest. I will be putting a new lock on the door and during long period of not being used (winter) it'll be kept under a cover too. There may be some days where its kept on the drive if I'm in an out (behind a hedge) so don't know if a simple chain that I can chuck around a wheel quickly will do. Or a disk lock.
