Welcome! Enjoy your stay! Have a biscuit.
  2. How late is registration allowed? Now I have finally got a bike, I can take part in this world renowned awesomeness for a stab at the best prize to ever grace a challenge. Could I register 963 please? Hopefully i'll get SOME under my belt. It's a motivator at least! ;D
  3. Fab! Now I know what to look for while searching for female-female and male-male adapter versions of them! Thanks!
  4. What is the name of this power connector? A few things have them, but sometimes varies which way round they have them (whether male or female on the device or power end) - and is there male-male / female-female adapters/extensions for them? Thanks
  5. Ohhhh, noooo. No I wasn't going to mount on a single bolt. The mount is actually pretty much exactly like the one you've linked from AliExpress, got mine from Amazon for £8.. Same thing. It mounts at 4 points just like that one. The question is just really what are suitable bolts and if longer needed. I've ordered some stainless steel bolts about 4 mm longer (roughly same as thickness of mount) so i'll see how well it fits with them. I looked at those, and also looked at one on a bike with a Nav, while sitting on it. It isn't very comfortable to have to look down so far. Much prefer above the instrument cluster.
  6. Vague title, I know very sorry... anyway, i'm looking to mount a sat nav mount on my Tiger 800 (Gen 1 11/61 reg), i've found NOTHING helping with how or what I need for this, anywhere. Not for my bike. ANYHOW - I know mounting the mount isn't complicated, assuming I have the right mount - it APPEARS to be 'correct' , and mounts to two points each side. One which has the screen mounted on (i've marked on the pic) and one which is infront of the instrument cluster. I haven't been to the bike to get a good picture, but according to the bikepartstriumph site (images below) - that uses the below bolt. Now, as i'm putting the mount there, i'm assuming i'd need longer bolts - so maybe 2-4 mm longer? I randomly looked for M6 x 18 on amazon and came up with some. I know theres M6 x 20's etc - can I just use any of them or is there something specific kind I should be looking out for? The fact triumphs own ones cost £2.22 or so isn't the issue, i'm not bothered about the cost. I know this is a ridiculously newbie question, but I don't like the idea of just getting something that might not be right and bodging it up. And i'm struggling to find any real info on my specific bike. Or parts that fit. Lots for newer Tigers, but Gen 1. Nothing. Thanks for any help!
  7. Did CBT 2019, redid CBT 2020. Did some lessons/mod1+2 practice on a big bike. Did Mod1. Did Mod2. Passed 2021. Cost... no idea really... £99 for each CBT. DAS(big bike lessons etc) + Tests about £400.. I think? Maybe a little less. So £600 all in. Happy I passed first time. Car test was another matter.
  8. I forgot about the being top heavy part... and it doesn't have a centre stand! Something that i'm hoping to fix, i'll try and find one for it. Hmm, major service - i'm going to have to ask this dealer all these questions - All these are things that will cause a large outlay immediately after buying it, which i'm not exactly wanting to do. May have to have a think about it if none of it has been done recently. Thanks for the info, and to everyone, thanks Very much appreciated.
  9. I'll be sure to ask about those when talking to the dealer, hopefully they know and will be able to sort something. Possibly maybe a decrease in price if it is something that is going to need to be done. Who knows.. I can dream I guess. The Tiger i'm looking at is quite a few years older than your 2019 you had! It only had an 800 or 800XC, I think it is the basic 800. But i'm sure it'll do me fine as a first big bike. I'll certainly see how it rides for me. I know I've seen somewhere that people say put a wider wheel on the front as it is thinner than the rear on the Tiger? I do want some panniers. Any would do, 3rd party or Triumph ones. I'm not bothered about filtering just yet. I will be wanting the storage space soon, so i'll work something out. Thanks guys!
  10. I'd love a Moto Guzzi V85 TT. Especially in the 'duck' colours as I called them. Sadly out of my price range without financing.
  11. So... FINALLY, i'll be getting a bike. And so FINALLY will be able to do the Challenge(2024), I hope!! WOO! But before that... i've already contacted the garage and it is still there. My absolute max budget was £4000 - and a lovely VN900 and Tiger 800 show up at the same time. The VN900 is closer to me, it is in Durham. The Tiger is over in Penrith. I've decided to go head over heart and chosen the Tiger, as being my first 'big' bike, and space being a premium, it would suit better for now. The VN900 is BIG. I'll move on to something like that when I can. I'll not get to test ride, as i'll be getting it delivered, does anyone have experience with Tigers, could suggest what I should do, check over, etc to it - It's a 61plate, 33000 miles on the clock. Costing me £4k. I THINK it is the road version, with the peak added on ? As I thought the 'offroad' version had the peak, and spoked wheels... But I don't know how else to tell, as I know they can all be changed. ;D If anyone has any insight/experience or anything with that year Tiger 800 you'd like to share with me, would be great. Looking up insurance quotes as they have given me the full reg number. oh this is exciting.. Thanks in advance if anyone has info. :]
  12. Thank you! Much appreciated.
  13. I mean, she went to see it today (according to original post) - why would theft be an issue if she is just picking up, and putting it somewhere safe (i'd assume) until insured.. Might not be from a dealer. Wouldn't leave a deposit and pick up later with a private sale. Ever. But as as you say, if it was a dealer - they would happily take deposits for it to then be picked up later. So there isn't an issue.
  14. Maybe hire a van that can hold a bike? Not sure on the cost of this... I'm guessing about 80-100 for a day? Some places even do hourly rental. Saves messing up insurance.
  15. I don't know the reliability of BMW 1200/850/850 GS's after a few years, but you can get them at your price point of £5000. They're just older ones (most pre 2009ish). So I guess it depends how old you want to go, and if they're a good bike that far back. If that is a bike you're really liking.
