  1. Yes now that I want. I’d have any colour though so long as there’s pinstripes.
  2. Inspired by Geofferz genuine whole hearted repulsion of the new Brough superior what in your opinion is the best looking bike you’ve ever seen? Mechanical reliability n performance isn’t relevant this is purely aesthetics. Nominate as many as you like by posting a pic and brace yourself for the vomit emoji’s and squabbling over the details that’s gonna occur
  3. @S-Westerly you’ve been at the psychedelics again haven’t you Grayson https://www.theguardian.com/science/2021/mar/05/ship-hovering-above-sea-cornwall-optical-illusion?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  4. yep I had a phone call from a dear friend I don’t often speak to (we do message a lot tho) and all I could really say is nope nothing much to say, lots of stuff broke and everyone seems bored sh*tless! Oh and ooh stop the press I’m having a chinese this evening
  5. Good luck. I drank week beginning last September, Christmas week and then yesterday- all I can say is I’m currently a LIGHTWEIGHT
  6. Oooo that’s nice, solid looking. Got a little bit of an ‘I’m a tw*t that drives a Porsche’ look but I could live with that They had me right up to the photo with the little lady riding pillion, sod ‘em
  7. Whoop whoop. I look forward to the pics
  8. What a marvellous thing. Thanks for posting that @husoi
  9. My son was very lucky to get his car driving test in the summer. Having been barely up to standard in March and stopping lessons then I was hugely grateful he passed and didn’t have to retake it. Maybe pick a training school and ring them asking how they’re handling it and whether you can book in now. They’ll want your money so will probably have come up with some sort of flexible approach.
  10. This evening I will mainly be having a Chinese takeaway. It’s the first one in over a year so I’m pretty excited just typing this God I’ve become a massive saddo... and I quite like it
  11. It’s an unnecessary cost and seen a dangerous thing to do so the whole things viewed as irresponsible by a lot of people. Lost count of how many people have been either genuinely or annoyingly concerned I’m about to kill myself. I only told one person I worked with at the time I was getting a motorbike (he is a biker) because I heard the amount of grief other people gave him. He agreed best not mention it because they’d go on a bout it relentlessly. The fact you’re more likely to end up seriously injured horse riding or playing rugby is dismissed by most people because they’re viewed as ‘healthy’ pursuits but in reality if you totted up the cost to the NHS of sports like football it would far outweigh motorcycle accidents. A marvellous example of the perception and reality being skewed is the fervour that people took up cycling and were encouraged to do so by the government during these lockdowns. Jump on a bicycle and make yourself a vulnerable road user with no experience “what’s that you say, you’re only 6 years old? It’s not a problem but remember no riding on the pavements thats illegal” the number of shaky out of control cyclists on the road was shocking. Even if you use cycle lanes you still need to cycle to them. Not that I’m not for children taking up cycling I am but it’s the perception of the risks I find odd, it’s usually based on a ‘common sense’ view which is just inherited information not based on fact.
  12. Mr slowlycatchymonkey’s birthday tomoz and we decided to take both Thursday and Friday off and leave the children in charge- what could possibly go wrong? It’ll be a merry busy day
  13. Excellent I struggled to remember where the original damage was. Would be interested to hear how the Simoniz clear lacquer holds up over a longer period. Is there anything that can be down to prevent orange peel?
  14. Austin Vince did an excellent two part talk on taking travel video at the weekend. It really stood out that he used to be a teacher, it was all broken down into the most important points presented in an easily digested way. Tbh he made some of the other presentations in the line up seem rather feeble! Chatted to him on a couple of occasions, he an odd one for sure! I enjoyed Lois on the Loose. Ended up at some Persian evening in Bristol (where I discovered I’m not a fan of Iranian food ) and she was giving a talk so had a chat n bought her Iranian book. She is VERY enthusiastic about Iran. I didn’t enjoy the book so much but probably because any country that takes a deliberate large step backwards in equality is never gonna do it for me. Iranian women have to cover themselves with baggy clothing (including hair) only showing hands n face, mustn’t enter a tea house on their own and when they do they sit in a separated area, they have to sit in a particular area on the bus, and women aren’t allowed to sing in public unless it’s a female audience - all things that amount to unnecessary control.. blurgh.
  15. For sometime I’ve fancied getting a gimbal, the DJI Om4 is currently in my sights but I don’t have any experience of them other than a demo in a shop once quite a few years ago. I have a phone winging it’s way to me with supposedly an excellent camera and I’d like to make the most of it so I’m thinking a gimbal is the way to go. I have a feeling the answer maybe no but any opinions or experiences here on any type of gimbal?
  16. If he ever ends up as an inpatient in hospital he’s going to be very afraid of the night staff then
  17. I look forward to hearing what you think of it when youve finished
  18. As police forces go Avon and Somerset police have a reputation for being alright, not exactly chilled out but not ar*eholes either. I read in the paper only yesterday Marvin Rees (Bristol Mayor) commending them for their handling of the BLM protest in Bristol-approx 10,000 people, no smashed windows, rioting or looting, no queues at A&E, it stayed peaceful largely due to the lack of any antagonism. Only last week I watched the bodycam footage of the Somerset police at a cider farm who had quite a large gathering of folk going on, they were pretty nice about it, still fined them all of course but they weren’t nasty - “Alright?” “Yeh you alright?” “Yeh” “oh you’ve got a lot people here” “mmm yeh” “oh dear”
  19. I’m assuming you still reckon the books worth a read though?
  20. You gotta allow a certain amount of licence for things written in a different era. It’s still available as an ebook so I might give it a whirl after I’ve finished ‘Our Ridiculous World Trip, Around the world on a scooter with a sidecar’ which so far is two clueless, hapless blokes who it seems stumbled into it by mistake (which they obviously aren’t because it takes a lot of effort n guts to quit your job, find the money and make it happen. So far so enjoyable.
