  1. I know long way up is the most current “adventure” program to watch but it’s a bit too commercial for me. I have recently discovered, and subsequently watched, all the videos on c90adventures on YouTube which I really enjoyed. I then watched a London to Sydney motorcycle adventure on YouTube but it wasn’t as enjoyable as, whenever there was a problem, they just threw money at it and usually had the bikes transported while they got a plane to the next destination so it felt like a bit of a cheat. Anyway just wondering if you have come across any similar “adventure” YouTube channels that you would recommend watching.
  2. A few weeks ago I bought a ‘99 Zzr600 and the ride home was awful, it just wouldn’t lean into corners I was actually worried that I’d bought a lemon. So thought I’d check the tyre pressure, as that is the cheapest/easiest fix and low and behold the tyre was pretty much flat, I pumped it up to the correct psi, took the bike for a ride and it was a totally different experience, i really enjoyed it. Anyway a couple of days later the tyre was low again, so I ended up using soapy water on the tyre and the rim is leaking in about 6 different places. I haven’t got the ability to remove the tyre myself so will have to take it to a garage for it to be looked at but, would you think it’s best to just get the tyre removed and then the wheels powder coated to prevent a repeat of the leaking or has the tyre just not been fitted correctly causing the leaks?
  3. As a fisherman I always enjoy a cup of tea while on the bank and have so far always used a gas stove of some description. Well a little while ago I decided to buy what’s generically known as a volcano kettle but are more well known as either a ghillie kettle or Kelly kettle. I hadnt used it before, as I still had some gas left, but last night it got its first outing and I have to say I’m very impressed. The one I have holds enough water for about 4 cups and boils surprisingly quickly. The fuel is just any bits of twig etc you can find, you make a little fire in the metal bowl and place the kettle on top. The flame/heat passes up through the centre of the kettle and that is how the water is boiled. Anyway this post is a lot longer than I anticipated but for anyone who goes fishing, camping, walking etc I would highly recommend getting yourself one.

  5. Yes all four earth wires are connected to the relevant place on the switch
  6. update: It’s done and I’m still alive I understood that the com wire and l1 wire had to go to the corresponding place on the new switch, the thing that was confusing me is that there was a small piece of wire going from com to com. I left this off the new switch initially but then only one of the lights would work so I put the bridge back in and they both work now Anyway, alls well that ends well.
  7. I just wasn’t sure whether an electrician would bother coming out just for that to be honest. I’m more than happy to leave it to the professionals
  8. Need to replace the light switch in the living room, thought it would be as simple as taking the old one off and putting the new one on by copying where the wires went in the last one....if only! The back of the old one and back of the new one look different so don’t want to take a chance and put the wires in the wrong place but also don’t want to get an electrician out to do it because it’s such a “small job”. Anyway old socket looks like New one looks like And the old wiring looks like this Can anyone give me some help?
  9. My first “big bike” was a hornet 600, I loved it. Super reliable, plenty fast enough and great fun. Just give it a quick oil and filter change, drain the tank, fill up with fresh fuel, give the brakes a quick test and then go take it for a spin for 120 miles until you need to fill up again! Oh and if you decide you don’t like it, you will easily get your money back, especially if you let me have first refusal
  10. Hi mickyley, I’ve just sent you a pm. I currently ride a V-Strom 650 which Is more upright than the bandit and I assume will rev similar to your Vulcan as it’s a vtwin. I don’t know what your budget is but you can pick an older one up for not much money.
  11. How do you find filtering? Is it a bulky bike? And what range do you get off a tank?
  12. I’ve seen a 1998 zzr600 that I’m contemplating buying as a second bike. I’m planning on using it along with my other bike for commuting but also considering using it for a track day or two in the summer. Has anyone owned one and if so would you recommend. I appreciate it’s an old bike now so would I be constantly tinkering or would it be reasonably reliable? The bike I’m looking at has done 30k, would any major work be needed at this mileage?
  13. You do realise you’ve just jinxed yourself
  14. You’ve still got two weeks to get your mileage up. You don’t have to go on long journeys just spending a day riding around the local area will get your mileage up while also building your confidence. I say you need to get your bum in the seat and get out there.
