  4. Hi folks, I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer I've bought a 98 rf600r in R.O.ireland which was previously a uk bike, its on irish plates now, how do I go about re-registering it to get uk plates ? I can only find info for bikes 10 years or younger, this is 14 years old. Does it need an sva test ? Or can I just contact dvla, pay a fee and get new plates ?? Cheers for any info and advice.

  8. for that guys, im planning going to a few bike & car shops tomoz rennie so fingers crossed i'll get one to fit. my stepdads thinks hes got one for an old ford in the loft but he cant find it lol, sods law lol.
  9. hi mate, im going to go around a few shops tomorrow including motor factors, you never know i might just find 1. ive even checked other Z models and different years and they all seem to be 14x1.5 so i dont know whats going on with my bike lol. the sump doesnt look like its been altered in anyway so its got me baffled lol.
  10. hi folks, ive been doing some work on my 1979 z1000st and it was going very smoothly until i rounded the oil drain bolt trying to drain the oil ive had to take the sump off to get the bolt out, the thing is i ordered a sump bolt which i was told was the right size ( m14x1.5 ) this is the size it gives when i search for my bike on all the sites mentioned below. after alot of f**king about with heat and a vice i finally got the bolt out but unfortunatly its now unusable . the bolt is ( m18x1.5 x12-14mm long ) and i cannot find anywhere that sells this size of sump bolt. ive tried ebay, m&p, wemoto, Zpower and quite a few other bolt suppliers but they dont have what i need. do any of you great people have a sump bolt of this size hiding in your sheds or workshops ?????? if you do please let me buy it from you and i would be so greatfull hopefully someone can help out iain
  11. after stripping the callipers down yet again, i found the seals were not seated right they must have moved when i put the bolts in the last time, anyway, i checked the mounting plate and the bolts, there not as worn as i first thought. i fixed the seals and re-packed them with extra thick grease and it seems to be fixed, doesnt rattle anymore. thanks for the advice mate, i appreciate it
  12. i havent seen the caliper bracket/slider for sale anywhere for this bike, only full callipers and they are a bit pricey atm, im not guarenteed they wont have the same problem. mate, im going to try the JB weld, i just spotted it on ebay and im going to order it now ) that should save me a few quid and if that doesnt work then i'll have to get other calipers. thanks again mate )
  13. i tried that mate but its not made any difference, do you think if i drill it out it will make it weaker and cause more problems ?
  14. also, i know that calipers off other zed's fit but i dont want to have to buy unless i really have to, im just a tight arse lol. thanks again
  15. hi folks, my z1000st has got rattling front calipers, both sides. its caused by the mounting bracket that the caliper fits onto. when i bought the bike it never had the internal rubber grommets, this has caused the rattle which has in turn caused the holes for bolts to expand slightly, therefore caused the rattle. i got the grommets as soon as i could and it hasnt made any difference to the rattle, its got worse. does anyone know of a way to fix this problem, i was thinking about getting slightly bigger diameter bolts and drilling out the holes in the mounting bracket and caliper body. do you think this would work ?? im in central scotland and im wondering if theres anywhere near me that can do it so i dont f**k it up. thanks for any help or advice given
