  1. I have just been reading that if my engine is a non interference engine then there should be no damage to the engine. But I can't seem to find anywhere that will tell my if mine is or not. Would any of you guys happen To know? Or know how I may find out?
  2. Just firstly want to say thank you all for your advice bike is in the garage I'll know the full extent of the damage tomorrow but sounds like (I have probably got this a bit wrong but I'll try to explain the best I can) the piston jumped up snapped the cam? Chain and the flicked that round bashing the engine. It was done at low speed so hopefully damage is minimal but like I said will find out tomorrow. Mechanic reckons it could be terminal for the engine. Just to throw this out there. Reckon I could somehow claim this on insurance?
  3. Check all the fuses and tried a bump start nothing worked the low battery warning is no longer shower though
  4. Surely if it was battery though my display wouldn't show? I have battery issues before and it stopped my display, lights, etc from working properly

  6. I had no battery warning until after it happened then it came up saying low battery
  7. Morning all. I got on the bike this morning and it started fine everything was normal. I rode about 100 yards then I heard a quiet pop and the engine cut out. I turned the bike off then on again and tried to start it and now all I get when I press the ignition is a whirring. I'm fairly mechanically inept but it sounds like the starter motor is fine due to the whirring, but the engine won't fire. I'm wondering if its spark plug problem but I have no idea what that would sound like or if there is other things to check and how I might do that. Please help its a ktm duke 125. I have listened to what a seized engine would sound like and I'm 99% sure it isn't that. Oil level and collant levels are both fine.
  8. This has all been enlightening but anyone fancy answering the question?
  9. I'll take your advice for the coasting but what's the reason you shouldn't?
  10. Morning all, I'm having a problem with my duke-125, that only seems to happen in even moderately warmer weather having been fine all winter until now. Whilst riding I seem to have a slight loss in the engine power not massive but noticeable, also when I pull the clutch in to either cost downhill or come to a stop the bike will cut out. Its confusing me because it may happen only 1 time in 20, but it happens every time I ride the bike (not in winter though) coolant looks fine so I don't think it's an over heating issue, also my heat gauge may only be a quarter of the way up, so its in no way scorching hot. Any ideas of the cause and or things to check would be greatly recieved
  11. Another update! Thanks for all your advice so far really appreciate it. It fired up first time this morning but was misfiring for a couple miles or so then stopped. Could this be due to maybe trying to start it so much yesterday? Ktms are apparently renowned for having shite electrics so it could well be a dodgy ht lead which may also explain its tendency to cut out now and again when I'm holding the clutch in and slowing down am I right?
  12. Yeah I have a bike minded friend who told me off for the Wd40 and said I should use something85 but can't remember what it was he said. Im not mechanically minded at all but I have never had a problem with the fuel line that I know of
  13. Just an update! The bike is starting now and not cutting out idling but there is a hell of a lot of fumes out the exhaust again is this something that will clear up?
  14. Hi guys and girls. I'm in desperate need of some help. I tried to start the bike on the way to work and it wouldn't actually start but it was trying to turn over. The dashboard and the headlights were turning off when I pressed the ignition and then coming back on when I released it. I thought flat battery but that's been fully charged and not fully solved the problem. However now it will start after some trying and will rev fine until I release the throttle it will sit on idle for maybe ten seconds then die. I also sprayed some Wd40 around the ht lead as this fixed the problem last time straight away. When it did start the first time it was chucking out a lot of fumes from the exhaust but after some time revving that seems to have cleared up for now. Any help suggestions and knowledge will be truly appreciated Thanks!
