    Oil issue

Update: It turns out the issue was a damaged wiring harness. Since all 2010 models seem to have the same design, I wonder if it will be a problem for Kawasaki? http://posterous.com/getfile/files.posterous.com/houltmac/6K8k4uCNOACWiT3pAoUs5bReHcw2vom6FAmTvABrsePEBHQ0Z46vTFEz7xwi/IMG_0315.jpg.scaled.1000.jpg

    Oil issue

Everything is covered by the warranty, that's not a problem. The issue is purely time, not being able to ride and of course all the money spent on coffee while hanging around. I also ended up buying some shades, a mask and a t-shirt while I was there (managed to get shit on my a pigeon). That's all the money, but it's adding up I just want my baby back =(

    Oil issue

Indeed it would seem so! Actually, the oil was there, it was just hiding (thank God). It turns out the battery wasn't charging properly which they thought was causing a bad warning light but now it is and the light is still on. They assure me the oil isn't an issue. They updated the software and now the speedo is showing random BS numbers (see video below) and it feels like it's running on 3.5 cylinders or something. Intermittently it sounds and feels like it's struggling in the 8-14k range in any gear (especially noticeable down low of course). I'm taking the bike back on Saturday to have it re-checked. Oh, and there is now a small scratch on the tank. Great. I even had to buy a new Kawasaki t-shirt because I got shat on my a seagull - it's all working out well today!

    Oil issue

Everything looks normal from the exhaust - nothing unusual at all. I'm calling the dealer in the morning - just looking for some reassurance for now as I am so worried.

    Oil issue

This morning when riding to work I noticed that the bike just didn't feel right. It had lost poke and generally didn't feel "normal". I continued without a place to stop or anything. I forgot about it during the day and then realised the same feeling tonight. On the final approach to my house the oil pressure light went on. F***! On inspection it looks dry. I only gave it a few minutes to drain a little, but nothing at all is visible - no wonder it felt wrong and the light came on. The weird thing is that it was fine at the weekend. I give it a good inspection and clean every Saturday without fail - it takes most of the afternoon. Knowing I was going to do 600 miles on Sunday/Monday I gave it a really thorough once over and it seemed fine - no sign of oil being low at all. This is a new bike remember. It had a 600 service at 900 miles which included oil and filter. It is now on about 2400 miles. I haven't touched the oil myself, but it's always looked fine until tonight. There is no sign of a leak since it gets parked in the same spot here and at work every day and no sign of an issue. All felt fine yesterday. Any thoughts people? Am I missing something obvious? I'm more than a little worried right now.
  7. I ride in all weather, every day, and often leave and return in the dark. I don't manage to maintain the chain as well as I need to (I also do 2000 miles a month right now). For these reasons I got a Scottoiler. I had mine fitted by the dealer when I bought the bike new. I didn't get charged for it because they fitted all the extras for me FOC when I purchased a brand new bike (as they bloody well should ). They did a bang up job and it's super neatly done, if a bit of a pain to get to to refill (it's just so well hidden in the seat fairing). That said, having now seen it on there, I could easily have done it myself. I wouldn't waste money on the eSystem, but the old one works a treat. Highly recommended and simple to fit (though the instructions are a little confusing IMO).
  8. This past weekends long rides I have had a thermal base shirt, a t-shirt and a back protector as well as keeping the thermal in the jacket. It was tight, but has definitely stretched since it was new. Today I just had a t-shirt coming home from work. It was still tight, but you could feel the difference. 40 sounds like a good bet to me.
  9. Sorry to hear that Matt..hope its nothing to serious and that it all ends well mate..im going on the Martha care rideout next Sunday with the missus if your interested..rideout thru the Mendips in aid of children with cancer.. http://www.marthacare.co.uk/Yellow%20Da ... 20Out.html With the family emergency this weekend it would be apt to go to that next weekend. I'll look forward to it!
  10. Sorry guys, I have to pull out last minute. Family emergency has completely trashed my weekend plans.
  11. It'd be cool to meet some of you guys before getting lost in the crowd at the Ace. I'd be coming down the M40/A40 and guessing from there (only been once and followed someone). If anyone could meet somewhere that would be cool. I'm up for being really early if anyone else is.
  12. I'm still up for this, just keeping an eye on the weather.
  13. I'm still up for Friday, but I was planning on doing the Shakedown also. I'd be up for meeting people at Oxford or somewhere, or at the Ace.
  14. A Honda is next on the shopping list mate
  15. Haha! Looks like I am still on for my BK! Friday is looking a winner for me. Hoping to meet someone on Saturday, Sunday might be going to Wales with wasted_ace and hoping to do the Southend Shakedown on Monday.
  16. I got mine direct and had armour with them, but I already had armour from buying another pair at the bike show. I can send you a pair if you want, just PM me.
  17. I'd be up for that. Sunday would be best for me since I was considering doing the Southend Shakedown on Monday.
  18. There is a great set of videos on YouTube regarding choosing a back protector and why one is better than another. They are by the sportbiketrackgear. This may be removed as advertising, but they are a US firm so no use to us but their videos are very helpful in deciding which kit to buy in my opinion.
  19. Yeah, the photo looks like the one. The bolts are tight, as in not going anywhere. I don't have any tools to move them. The whole thing will work in that it's all about side-ways movement but it just moves up and down as well as rotating on the middle bolt.
  20. This is a completely retardo question I warn you, but still... My ZX came with an Ohlins steering damper as stock and I have never adjusted it. It's been fine and I don't want to adjust it right now. I was cleaning it earlier and for the first time noticed the damper move up and down slightly. Essentially it's bolted on with 2 bolts (one in the middle and one on the right) which are both solid, not moving, but loose. Thus the front of the damper can pivot up and down. The question is then, is that right? I don't know whether it's supposed to be tight, or if I just didn't notice before.
  21. Usually I'd be up for it, but I'm doing 200 miles in "heavy rain" tomorrow night according to the BBC and I won't be back until late, so I doubt I'll be up for it. If I am I'll text you.
  22. I've heard good things about CoPilot from friends so I'd certainly buy it if I felt I needed it. As much as I joke about getting lost, I'm pretty good at finding my way places, even though my UK geographic knowledge sucks - I'm a planner and remember what's important when I need it. As such I've just sold my TomTom and I'll be trying the iPhone using just Google Maps in the map bag for the final stages of the journey. Point me in the right direction in the city and I'll find my way there kinda thing. Google Maps and especially street view totally rocks. I used it the other day to see what the sign off a roundabout says and it didn't name any of the towns I'd have looked for when I actually rode the route. Thankfully I could follow those it did list instead. Rockin'!
  23. I have a Shoei XR1100 http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4069/4359818161_f1f2401e27_o.png and an Arai Chaser
