  1. I've had oxford sports heated grips and the ones from r&g racing. I'd say the r&g's are just as good and are only £30 (they were last year when i bought them). Heated grips only work well if you can keep the wind off your hands, otherwise you'll feel the cold in your finger tips and knuckles, the grips can't do anything to help. If the shop tries to sell you alpinestars 365, don't listen to them. They are not very warm, i made the mistake of thinking they were a true all year glove! The Gloucster's that were mentioned before always get great reviews.
  2. You should try kangaroo leather gloves as the leather is thinner than cow leather so you can feel more through them, more expensive though...
  3. Congrats, passing in the rain is like a pass with honours. If you knows the rules of the road and keep your cool, you'll pass mod 2 no bother, good luck with it!
  4. Maybe try a back support as a first step, I use a "Neo G VCS with stays", think I got it from amazon, was under £40. I can tell if I ride without it, so it does relieve some pain from the race crouch. Think I'll have to take up yoga or something like that to get a bit more flexibility in my core...
  5. You can get aftermarket clip-ons that raise your position and ease the pressure on you back, I've got some on my GSXR, 2" back, 1" up and 1" wider I think, that little amount of movement does make a big difference. The ones I have are helibars, you can't really tell unless its parked up next to another GSXR without them. I also use a lower back support and can easily do 1 hour trips with no issues, I've even managed a day out on it with not much more pain than on the Triumph Street Triple. Just thought I'd share in case you really want the ninja...
  6. Congratulations. Mod 2 is easier than Mod 1 (well IMO). Good luck.
  7. Be warned that you'll also have to pay VAT when it gets to this country and an importers/handling fee (Royal Mail said it was a standard £8.20 but am not sure if that was for a particular weight/size limit?) What kind of sports shirts? Do you mean American Football, if so don't forget that they are designed to have a bucket load of armour underneath them.
  8. What do you want, decent gloves or alpinestars, make up your mind I've got a pair of A* 365s, they've waterproof but not warm at all. If its just summer gloves then why not try Held or Knox as they have some really good summer gloves. Handroids are available for about £130 (my mate got some but I think I've deleted his email with the link)
  9. Why on earth is it only in a blog entry? I'd have thought that would be one of the helmets major features and as such should be plastered on every page!?! Probably down to it being a very small company and the marketing people aren't all that...
  10. Are you sure about the GPS feature, I couldn't find that mentioned on the thermahelm site. If this sort of tech actually works then I can see it being licensed by all the helmet manufacturers very shortly. useful to know
  11. It was in the Ride tests - it came last in the review, see the verdict for the oily gloves line. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/Ri ... 20test.pdf
  12. Have you got one of these? I've heard reviews that say the bottle leaks a little bit of oil onto your gloves, would like to hear if that's true or not.
  13. According to the enigma-tool.eu site, the varadero is supported. I don't use this software so please don't go and buy it thinking I've recommended it, its just an example that shows the Varadero has some form of OBD(2) support. From what I've read on tuning and fuel mapping, bikes have really simple systems compared to cars. I was reading a thread about someone who turbo charged a Daytona 675 and was running lean and having to put horrible fudges into the fueling to get past it, no nice pressure sensors to map against.
  14. Or you could just put enough oil in for your trip, that way it won't leak once you've parked up.
  15. I used West Pennine Motorcycle Training who are in Blackburn. They're alright but the owner is a bit abrupt and will try to make you pay as much as possible. To be fair to him, there are some chancers that turn up and expect to have a license within 3 days without ever being on a bike previously. The instructors are good (a couple are very good, Steve and Alan) but the management let the side down a bit. Oh and they'll book your Mod2 directly after the Mod1, without asking you, so if you mess up its a massive financial set back (that happened to me). EDIT: since the title says reviews, I'll have to score them: 6.5/10 (6 would have been too harsh)
