  1. Thank you megawatt for all the advice on the phone!
  2. Just took it out for a spin on the a28 towards Canterbury.. Same problem, worked fine for a while, then started spluttering around. I stopped, switched it off and tried starting it again. Started fine, runnin in neutral so I slowly twisted the throttle. Revs picked up consistently then at a certain point dropped out and the engine stalled... Could that indicate a problem with the fuel position sensor? Came back with it runnin a bit ragged, and parked up and got the little bit of wire and put it in dealer mode with the error codes on the screen. Started it up, got it to the point where it cuts out and stalls, but no error code appears. It stays at c00 - indicating no problems. I tried a few variations of starting it in gear and in neutral, letting it cut out etc but no error code... Thoughts anyone?!
  3. Cool, thank you for the advice! I might be pushin my luck but would anyone be able to describe how to check it with a multimeter or know of any blogs etc online describing it? I can't find anythin in the Haynes manual....
  4. Not sure, how would I check that and is it easy enough to fix?
  5. God bless google maps... I now know where northiam is... unless there's two of them as well!!!!
  6. Haha thanks guys, I'm in ashford Kent... Worst case scenario I might just pop up to Middlesex! I live and work in kennington. Just took it to the gym and back there, it farted about the whole way there, had to restart it like 3 times, then on the way back it ran smooth as anythin! :s apologies for my ignorance, where's northiam?
  7. Hi all! I've moved to ashford and I'm in need of some help. I really need to find a good reliable mechanic to help me out and was wondering if anyone knows anyone around here who could help. Ideally I need to find someone who runs a bike garage and would be able to take my bike and have a play with it to figure out the problem... I have a Suzuki sv650 s k4 2004 model. It's ran fine for past three years, had full services etc. and no major problems. Now though, (probably because its sunny and good riding weather) it's decided to start playing up. I switch her on and she runs fine for up to about 20 mins, then the revs seem to mess around, particularly at slower speeds - 30mph or less. Keeping the throttle steady, the revs might drop or pick up for no reason. Likewise, when speeding up or rolling off the throttle, she sticks at the revs she was at for a bit before reacting. Once all this starts, she then sounds "clunky" if that makes sense. The engine noise seems lower in tone, like its struggling to keep going. Then, when slowing down at traffic lights or junctions with the clutch pulled in the revs obviously drop, but then she cuts out. When you start her again, you have to keep the revs high or else it just cuts out again. Makes riding in a town a. Difficult and b. embarrassing!! If anyone could point me in the right direction, either by diagnosing my problem (not mine, I mean the bike- I know my problem, I waffle when trying to get to the point...see?) OR by pointing me in the direction of someone who can help without ripping me off for hours spent on labour it would be much appreciated. CHEERS! Bob
  8. A guy from RAC had a play with it and thinks its the ecu, as you can hear the fuel pump prime when it works ok, then you hear nothing with the fi light flashin. We played around testin the fuel pump switch for correct earthin and even put a direct earth into the system to test it, an he reckons its whatever in the ecu that controls the earth for the fuel pump- maybe a loose connection or somethin? Is an ecu easy to swap out and replace if I get the parts? Cheers again for the help!
  9. Oh and yes, it has the standard can and filter on it...
  10. Cheers for all the advice! if the breather pipe is blocked, how do i unblock it? is it simply by pushing something small and thin through it?
  11. DVD riders?!? Thanks predictive text... I meant sv riders!!!
  12. The bike is 2004, I'll have a look in my Haynes manual to get the codes on screen, if not are there any DVD riders who know how? Cheers for the help so far...
  13. Hi All, Anyone any ideas what the problem could be...? please see below! My SV650s decides to lose the revs and cut out when im dropping down through the gears - crawling along on the motorway proved very scary as i ahve to continually restart the bike - thank god for queues!!! every now and again it wont start and flashes a Fl symbol on my control panel, then starts fine just after i turn the key off and on again... when it does cut out, or gets near to cutting out, it feels very sluggish and struggles to pick up the revs, then cuts out and takes a lot of revving to get it started again. its had a new battery and no recent problems, then this started!! i have bought oxford heated gloves and run these off the battery, but the bike has cut out when im not even using these HELP PLEASE!!! thanks in advance!
