1. Hmmmmm do they deliver them? Yes but they were stale, so I sent them back! Jokes on you, no refund!
2. Personally I've had one of those craft beer cans (330ml) in lunchtimes when it's a very hot day and I happen to be eating out with friends, by the time I eventually ride home 4hours have passed and I've felt completely fine. I have been told that there may still be some traces of alcohol in my system though so I don't tend to do it very often. Craft beers tend to be slightly more alcoholic than the standard lagers that are available on draft so I do make sure I'm careful and stick mainly to the low alcoholic ones when I do go for one.
3. Yeah, I was in my local shop last week trying this helmet I'm thinking of getting. It fitted really well and I would have brought it if I had taken my car rather than going there with my bike. I'm still trying to find a place to try out those 6D helmets though!
4. Thanks Bender for the link, now that article is some seriously insane stuff, I was in the market for a new helmet too but won't have even thought that there would have been counterfeit helmets in the market! sticks with SBS and local vendors in the high street so that I could at least inspect them.
5. If the thought of the countryside is too scary for you just now, you can always practice in an empty parking lot so that you can get used to the gear changes. I did that when I first started, I used to practice my slow control maneuvers late at night in Winter time when I started. But even late night is still quite bright in the Summer nights
6. What tv news channel was it on? Is there a link on their website?
7. I tried your technique a load of times, but hopefully now I won't keep losing my gears if I make sure I stop in 1st. I'm also less worried about revving it in 1st & 2nd. Every time I'm out on it I learn something new! You're right, things are starting to fall into place. Next step, to try to master commute into work.... Is it a long commute to work? The more you ride the better you'll get, I'm sure in a couple of months time you will be laughing how "easy" it is now.
8. As I understand it if you fall asleep in the back of a car drunk , you can only get done if you have the keys in the car with you . Surely you would have if you've managed to open the car door? If the key owner put you in their car and didn't take you home, they are not a good friend.
9. Then you'll defo make it next time! Hoping to hear good news! Good Luck!
10. Sorry to hear that Ash, you'll get the next one! Did the examiner stop it right there or did you still get to complete the other exercises for practice at least?
11. fastbob, although very rare now, but there definitely is still some still around, as OP has mentioned, it's mainly in residential areas where there isn't many cars around so not enough for the local council to paint the roads. Scanning through the forum, other users have mentioned that there are still some unmarked road junctions near Shieldhall test centre so examiners like to test folk on it, I'm still looking for them but I have heard from my instructor that someone recently failed their test for not noticing it.
12. zzr650 j reg zzr600 Lol, why are you double posting?? Can you give us more info on your bike? What's the mileage? Spec, mods?
13. Am I right in assuming that we should omit the give way sign on that road and treat it as an unmarked junction? If so, as I have mentioned on the other post you've done, no one has priority but IMO it would make sense if I was in the car to give way to the motorcyclist on the right as they are more vulnerable on the road.
14. In unmarked junctions, no one has priority. I guess it comes down to who is the more courteous driver/rider by letting the other person go first. That's my take on the first photo.
15. I think everyone here has only got good things to say about SBS, the only one who seems to think they are a joke is OP. Hmmm...wonder who's the joker. (sorry newbiker90 , i'm only jo-king)
16. I won't say there is anything wrong with that, end of the day, I think you did the right call. I'm sure everyone here will agree that before you buy your bike, it is best to at least see, hear and sit on it in person.
17. I would suggest the safest bet would be for you to go and inspect the bike before you purchase it. When I brought mine from a private seller, I went with my brother who inspected/tested the bike and then checked all the documents before I parted with my cash. Personally I won't want to have the bike delivered without first seeing it yourself. In an ideal world, bringing your mechanic along to thoroughly test the bike before purchase would give you the best odds that the bike is good to go but then unless you know your mechanic well or they're your mate, it's going to be rare for that!
18. Bennetts Mmmm maybe its my occupation or the fact I use it for commuting, I've heard that working shifts pushes the premiums up? Yup. I believe that to be true as Insurance companies calculate the risk based on the overall mileage you would advise them you plan to do per year, as the more miles you do the higher the chance of you being in a crash.
19. I'm pretty sure we could read that and the result could have been very different. I'm glad you're alive now but IMO that was a silly move to go that fast into a corner on a open road. Oh, how are your arms now? Yea it was a silly move but I was 17 and stupid, my arms are ok, I cant straighten my left elbow fully and my left hand now looks like that of wolverine's and I broke my right wrist and compressed my left knee cap but I can still play rugby and ride bikes so I'm happy What a legend, can't believe you still play rugby after all that. #Respect!
20. You know what, you hit an oncoming vehicle in that scenario and the maths is the least of your problems. You're still dead. I'm living proof you can survive a head on crash, all be it I broke both my arms and was close to death I'm still here to tell the tale, in mine I was travelling down a narrow rural road as I did on a daily basis to work but my problem was I was 17 with zero hazard perception and thought I was Marc Marquez on my little Honda cg125 and I used to ride the road flat out which was around 65-70 mph there is a nice long straight after which is followed by a blind right hand bend but knowing the road and the bike I would roll off slightly to around 60 and turn in to the right bend and I knew if my front tyre was on a black patch that was just on my side of the centre of the road I would make the corner no problem so I put the front tyre there this day and there ended up being a car coming the opposite direction at the same time and the rest is history as they say, I have also been told it was the speed that saved me if I'd been 5mph slower my head would have entered the windscreen I'm pretty sure we could read that and the result could have been very different. I'm glad you're alive now but IMO that was a silly move to go that fast into a corner on a open road. Oh, how are your arms now?
21. @BabyD said it was this week but never said what day. Unless you know it was today!?? He has posted pics on the challenge thread Ah! I stand corrected. And I was a chump thinking he was going to post the photos here.
22. BabyD said it was this week but never said what day. Unless you know it was today!??
23. Wait? We do give priority to the right...in roundabouts that is? Or do you mean approaching junctions from minor to major road?
24. You never actually answered the question?? I was shown by brother who is a few years old than me.
