1. Yeh I was really disappointed to be honest. The sound quality when listening to music is awful, and when Siri is activated it’s ridiculously loud and distorted!!! I can’t remember what I paid for the SRL2 system but I’m sure it wasn’t far off £300 when it was released. “Best system available” I was told, and it fitted neatly into my lid too. How wrong was that!?!? Lol On the plus side, at least you can use Siri when riding. I’ve got a few playlists set up, so I just say “play “.....” playlist on shuffle” and it works. Answering calls is a brief held down press of the middle button. But sometimes that cancels the call I’ve been considering the handle bar mounted button pad thingy, can’t remember what it’s called. According to a few YouTube videos, it makes life much simpler.
2. Did you get the SRL with the lid? Can’t say I’m a massive fan of the three buttons on mine, they’re impossible to operate with thick gloves - might have to grab the handlebar control. Plus, “Hey Siri” only works if the phone is in front of me. Doesn’t respond when it’s in a pocket. Fine for setting the music going before I shift off, but hopeless on the move. Certainly made my mind up about getting a phone mount for the Tiger. I’ve got the Sena on my GT Air 2 and struggled for a while. I found out that holding the middle button down and waiting for the third, higher pitched beep activates Siri. Hope this makes it easier for you.
3. Sounds great to me!! I’ve got a few friends I ride with when the weather is good and family life isn’t taking over, one of them is an incredible rider and should be racing for a living!! I just let him go and meet up further down the road. I like a blast as much as the next guy but I have two kids and value my life cruiser speed works for me. I like the idea of a proper organised ride too. Let me know of any future plans and if I can make it, I shall be there. I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of people from this forum. Even the decade old threads are useful for info Look forward to getting out.
4. Yeh, we’ve had a bit of crap weather at the moment lol. As for not keeping pace on cruisers, I don’t really ride fast. I’m open to a leisurely stroll out for sure. Keep me posted
5. Does anyone have any planned meets in South Wales this year? I’d like to meet up with some people on the forum. I’m pretty restricted with free time but if anyone has anything planned in the next few weeks or months, I’ll hopefully be able to tag along and meet some other TMBF bikers Cheers guys and gals
6. Yeh J&S are great for stock. We’ve got M&P in South Wales too, which also have a great stock. I bought mine from the Swansea branch after trying on so so so many pairs. The problem with my boots is they’re no good for walking, but that’s not what they’re designed for. There’s loads of options now in the “commuter” style/range that could be ok for you though? Any decent places near you to go and try some on?
7. I think it has its own list, which is above Cardiff’s list
8. There was definitely an element of truth. Many a true word said in jest hahaaa. Hang on, you live in one of the top 5 best villages and you’re calling me posh? How far do you need to travel to speak with friends though? As far as one of the other villages in the top 5?
9. Ian Frog that made me chuckle hahaaaa The house prices drop whenever I move somewhere. That probably makes me the opposite of posh
10. Cheers Tankbag I did ask the dry cleaners that sort my suits and shirts out but they said they wouldn’t touch it because the label didn’t say “can be dry cleaned”. They did say it would’ve only cost £6 if they could though lol. At least it’s sorted now aye!!! Finally got some riding in today as Cardiff was beautiful and sunny for a change
11. So a little update for anyone interested or having a similar issue...the smell is gone, FINALLY!!! I can’t say whether all of the first attempts added to the result or if they were a waste of time BUT washing it inside out, without putting it in a cover on a delicate cycle did the trick!! 30c on a low spin for about 50 minutes and not a lot of powder/conditioner and it still had a little smell when I took it out. Now it has dried properly, it smells so fresh. I used the leather treatment again when it was fully dried and it’s like a brand new jacket. Thanks all for your help and suggestions, the cooker was the next step lol
12. I’m at that point now where suggestions like that may be tested, just because lol. I tried my friend’s method......and It did f*** all with the exception of soaking the jacket and turning it into a 50kg weight. I’ve just stuck it back in the machine without a cover, on a normal spin but a 30 minute wash. If the horrid, damp smell is still there then I’ll put it on a baking tray and in the over I obviously won’t be expecting a wearable jacket at the end so while it’s cooking I will shop around for a new one lol. For reference, I was told to do the following: Wipe down the jacket with leather cleaner. Turn it inside out. Place it in a laundry bag/pillow case/or similar and tie it closed Put it in the washing machine on a delicate cycle, 30c, no spin, very little powder/detergent. Air it out to dry away from direct heat or sun etc. Cooking it may be my only option from here
13. Cheers Stu. I’ll cross my fingers and hope for the best lol.
14. raesewell , thanks for the help. I’ll give it a go. I do a similar thing when I get new football or work boots, so that makes sense. As soon as I’ve done it, success or failure, I’ll post an update for anyone else that has the same problem......I’m sure there has been and will be a few
15. So, a quick update.... I’ve used anti-bacterial spray, rubbed it in and then mopped up with a damp cloth and allowed to dry near (but not on) a radiator. I then repeatedly steam cleaned the jacket over and over, allowing to dry in between. Sadly, there is still a musty smell I’ve got one more option that has been suggested to me by a friend, and that is to stick it in the washing machine! I know what you’re thinking, I thought the same thing. But, apparently he’s done this and it worked. There’s a very specific set of instructions, it has to be wrapped in a laundry bag for example, on low heat and no spin (I think), but if that doesn’t work then I’m no better or worse off. Anyone had experience doing this? Any suggestions before I go ahead? It feels a little, well, mad sticking leather in the washing machine but, I’m going to bin it anyway if the smell doesn’t go so I don’t have much to lose really!
