  1. I couldn't agree more mate, use to have some half decent winter gloves, but they got worn out. Haven't done much winter riding at all this year, so haven't replaced them, probably will do now though
  2. Well, finally tried the jump start from the van's battery today, had some trouble getting the clips to stay on the bike's battey terminals, but once I did, all started first time with nothing to report! Celebrated with a 20 miles ride in and around MK - As much as I could bear in summer gloves! Currently going the the painful defrosting fingers stage, but that's a small price to pay! Thanks a lot for all the advice.
  3. Thanks for all the replies guys, was more interested in if people have tried it and if so, what happened, some good answers. To be honest, this would never have happened, but being as my tax fell at the worst possible time of year - I haven't been able to give it a blast every few evenings as i'd like to have done... It's a sad day when you have to declare SORN until the next pay day comes. Bloody Christmas!!! Well, I'll be trying it off my van's battery tomorrow evening, providing I get home early enough and the weather's ok - I'll post when I get round to it to let you all know how it went!! Thanks again!
  4. Hey guys, not been around for a while, but need a bit of advice, I've searched as far as I can but just wanted to get a few opinions on here before I make a decision. Haven't been riding for about 2 months, but have been starting the bike weekly or every 10 days and ticking over for approx 10 minutes, anyway, on Wednesday my bike (Suzuki GSX650f) started clicking upon pressing ignition switch (Electrical clicking like a relay trying and failing to engage) anyway, I thought i'd leave it til today and then jump start it or bump start it - Went outside to try getting it bump started, but now, all that works is the alarm, nothing happens when I turn the ignition to on, leaving me with no choice but to either buy a trickle charger (Cant afford at the mo) or, try jump starting it... My question is, will I be ok jump starting it from the battery of a 2000cc Ford Transit connect? I know I cant have the Van's engine running when I jump the bike, but what's the worst case scenario with trying to jump start from a bigger battery? Cheers, Matt
  5. Ritchie, I'm in Woburn sands. But pottersbury is fine for me... Straight down the a5 for me. I'll check them out tomorrow. Cheers buddy.
  6. Was contemplating doing it all myself, only problem is, no magical service stamp - was hoping to trade it before it got to 7500 originally! now i'm probably gonna wait til next March. Frustrating, didn't think i'd do as many miles as I have. EDIT: Sorry, forgot to add, it won't require an MOT as it's only 18 months old
  7. Hey guys, just phoned a local Suzuki main dealer to quote for a 7500 mile service on my gsx650f - they quoted at £260 all inclusive - surely that's a major f**king rip off? Can anyone shed some light on what I SHOULD be looking to pay? I can't see how they can legitimately charge that much! Livid.
  8. I would say, no matter what can you put on it, a 125 is always going to sound like a 125, no point wasting the money I wouldn't have thought!
  9. Thanks mate, forgot to ask this aswell. One of myneighbours works at the Suzuki UK head office and warned me that removing the baffle (Aftermarket can BTW) will make it flatter in terms of performance, is that right?
  10. While cleaning my bike earlier, decided to remove the baffle from my can. Had a play about and made the bike sound smoother if anything, not much louder though. Anyone know what damage this can do to the engine, have read stories about a lack of back pressure damaging the engine? thinking of removing mine for a while to see how it goes.
  11. Wow, talk about resurrecting the dead! I went there about 2 months ago, by complete chance. I have a work mate who lives just down the road in Chingford and I told him I'd got into biking recently and he said about a bikers hut near his place, so one day while we were 'ahem' working, decided to go for a cuppa up there, in our white van! A few bikers were about, seemed a great bunch, was quite surprised anyone was there at all though as it was mid morning on a weekday! Love to see what it's like at weekends. Also, to echo what Netmeister said, some nice roads in and around Epping Forest, highly recommended.
  12. Wasn't sure where to put this, so I've chosen here as a safe bet! Anyway, rode up from mine to my mate's in Tamworth this afternoon to go to the weekly bike meet at Bassetts Pole and I must say, what an afternoon/ evening. My first time riding and meeting up with other riders and had a great time, rode the 75 miles to Tamworth from mine, just off J13 on the M1, then M6 and M42, which was ok, but quite boring. On the way home however, I decided to go A5, to M1 J18 and then down from there and had an AMAZING ride - Everything about it was great, warm, but not HOT and the sun setting gradually behind me and managed to carry a good speed the whole way back. Anyway, does anybody know of any meets of similar size a bit closer to where I live (Milton Keynes)? Gonna be going to Bassetts Pole every couple of months, but could do with a more local one too!!
  13. There's a BRUTAL magic roundabout in Hemel Hempstead, easy enough if you treat each mini roundabout seprately but people over complicate them! OP - You should try living in Milton Keynes, that'd cure your fear of roundabouts, guaranteed!!
  14. More of a BUMP for J4ff than anything else. Read about half of it and it's really really well written. Great find mate - I'd go as far as saying it's worth a sticky!
  15. Yeah, i'm pretty sure it's to increase drag too, Rossi started doing it a couple of years ago and tbh, before this season, I hadn't noticed anybody else doing it, but noticed Dovizioso and RdP doing it yesterday - I dare say more do it, but I cant say i've seen them
