@RideWithStyles not all in-line 4’s are peaky. My 1250 has max torque coming in at around 3000 revs. 6th gear pulls from 25mph to license loosing speeds.
Can ride it like a twist and go, no need to change gears or use the gears and really fly. Then with a red line at 9500 the engine is never stressed, bullet proof and will go on for many many miles.
this is the advantage of large capacity engines tuned for torque as a quick sports tourer.
Fair enough 150+ hp machines Will eventually leave me behind but by then we will be in seriously high speeds.

I shall only add the letters ZRX to the above post !

  2. Hi @Adil glad to see the pic shows damage not terrible.

I have some standard parts which may be for sale  for a Gen1 such as std Exhaust silencers and headers (possibly the link pipes too) a set of std mirrors and a pair of wheels.

I think there is also a standard swingarm and some clutch parts somewhere in the workshop as well.

I am in the midlands should you want a chat?

    Cheers

  3. Just a quick thought, whilst working on this particular bike under no circumstances attempt to turn it over on the starter motor unless you are confident the battery is holding a significant charge.

There have been incidents of damage occuring when people have carried on turning Busa`s over and letting the battery charge fall.

  4. I was recommended Gem`s by someone on here (who used to reside in Rennie`s wardrobe I believe).

Gems cover the person rather than the vehicle and so far I haven`t used them in anger but the nationwide coverage and the fact that it doesn`t matter what vehicle I am in/on is reassuring.

On the other hand when I suggest that their main function is to provide extra ballast when rounding the windward mark in strong winds they tend to get a bit uppity.

Did you mention Galley cooking duties and bilge cleaning ?

  6. Not sure if you are right @Phil1 as I have just found that most Vance and Hines exhausts for example have been updated or revised recently (obviously prices haven`t dropped lol) and some suppliers holding the old model reference numbers are all of a sudden withdrawing them.

  7. There have been a few videos on you tube about this in the states, mainly Harley dealers saying they are no longer prepared to deal with certain aftermarket suppliers.

I wasn`t expecting it this side of the atlantic quite so quick.

  8. As @Mississippi Bullfrog said put the hammer away for a bit.

    Lube then heat is correct.

You have removed the 2 small bolts that secure the plate that slides over the splined output shaft and that assembly is what retains the sprocket.

In theory you just lift that washer from the shaft and wriggle the sprocket off.

All that is holding you back at the moment is corrosion so lube heat and repeat.

  9. +1 for Lomo stuff excellent value and good performance.

Also I seem to remember back in the day a lot of people used soft panniers on the superdream Hondas and the Oxford ones available seem great.

I have a pair you could try if you are ever down this way save buying and regretting.

  10. +1 for Gems been with them for a while following a chat with six30 who was in the motor trade at the time and as it covers the person rather than the vehicle it works for us and they were able to point us in the direction of discounted European cover for when we went away on the Tigger.

I have to admit, I do have an ongoing daydream of living in the USA and living the dream.

Currently dating a red haired Texan called Mary-Lou, who loves cruising mountain roads on a HD.

Are there many mountains near Haverhill?

    I`ll get my coat.

    Cheers
