  1. Well. I have put it all back together after testing everything and re assembled the generator and re checked points and now have a spark at plug !!!
  2. Yes i do now but before removing the head and lifting the barrel I had a spark.
  3. I think the ignition switch earths out the spark from the generator when switched off . Without it being connected at all it will have no means of ding this. Also I had a spark without it being fitted. I am heading towards a issue with the generation of the spark or the voltage created.
  4. Thanks for checking that for me. Am going to remove and re check the flywheel and points etc.
  5. I think the rectifier is only required to convert the 12v ac to dc for the charging of the battery ?
  6. Wow that looks great. Wondered if you had any idea where I could get a replacement coil for the generator if required ?
  7. Looking at my manual then my generator wiring colours tie up with a CG125 BR-E/F,J AND K MODELS ?
  8. So yes I am putting the voltage from the generator straight into the ignition coil. The multimeter I was using was reading 6v ac.
  9. Really great full for all your help. No have never had it running. Assumed it was 6v from wire colours compared to wiring diagrams in my manual I have and have been working on that theory. Thought i had the right coil etc as had a strong spark at plug after fitting new points. Then realised it had a new barrel fitted but no compression and had been sat idle for 10 years in the state it is now. After lifting the barrel and adding some oil to the rings they have opened up and now have compression. But have now lost the spark at the plug.
  10. I bought this bike as a project not running so didnt have a battery. Will go out and get the serial number from bike. Was thinking it was 6 volt due to the colour of the 4 wires from the generator. Dont even know for sure that the parts go together. The log book says 1996 engine no jc18e5006236
  11. I think the spring is still in place. I can get all the screws out no problem as have removed a few times.
  12. I am beginning to wonder if the output from the generator is incorrect even though it creates a strong blue spark.
  13. But the 3 countersunk holes control the position of the backplate ? Sorry thought you meant one side was not pulled in tight using screws.
  14. The black/white wire connects to the single wire which goes to the ignition coil but is also linked to the condenser.
  15. Just checked and the backplate for the generator is in correctly its just the angle I took the photo at .
  16. Not noticed that until pointed out but will check. Am pretty sure I haven’t removed generator plate since losing spark !!
  17. The only wire connected to the ignition coil is the black/white from the generator. The coil is a single wire one and works correctly when wired to a 6v battery. The ignition switch is not connected. And all it does is short out the spark when switched off. So with out it the bike cannot be stopped if it started.
  18. Still just as confused by problem!!! Have put a earth wire from a screw on the backplate for the voltage generator to screw holding the ignition coil to bracket as a earth wire. When i kick bike over and hold black/white wire connector to earth on the ignition coil bracket or the head I get a good strong blue spark. If I use a 6v battery to generate a spark on the ignition coil when fitted correctly to frame and spark plug earthed to engine head I get a spark. But join the black /white ignition wire to ignition coil and get nothing !!!!!
  19. Thanks for the help. Am hoping I may be onto something and will let you know how i get on.
  20. Had a bit more of a look tonight. So i can get the plug to spark on bike with ignition coil bolted in place using 6v battery and earthing the battery to the coil or head. i think it is a problem with earth connection between the engine and the frame where the coil bolts on.
