  1. My BWM F700GS needs a new battery. Just ordered a CTEK charger for it, but which type of battery and why?
  2. I've been looking at the Denali Power Hub fuse block, but all the reviews I've come across slate it as P-poor soldering and materials and it doesn't last more than 4 months. Does anybody know of an alternative which is canbus friendly? Thanks Richie
  3. No rhyme or reason? Blew another Ring bulb. Local car accessory shop sold me an Osram H7 for a tenner because it has a 4 year warranty and told me if it blows, they will replace it! Bargain. Put that in this morning and have stopped/started bike 6/7 times and been riding all day without an issue. It's a mystery to me.
  4. I,ve put a meter on the battery and it's showing 12.3V with no ignition on. It's been sat for 3 hours since last run. Once started, it idles at 14.41v which rises to 14.5v with revs at 2000rpm. I guess I'll try another bulb then.
  5. Just collected my "new-to-me" 2017 BMW F700GS and spent out on clothing. Thought my trainers would do until next pay day, but maybe not! Remembered I spend a couple of hundred quid on a pair of Altberg walking boots and just gave them a whirl today. They are perfect for my needs so doubt I'll be laying out any more money on boots just yet.
  6. I picked up my 2017 BMW F700GS on Saturday and rode it home. I started the bike to move it to my garage and noticed the main beam bulb had blown. i purchased a new one the next day and the light was fine but once I stopped the bike and restarted some 30 mins later, the bulb had blown again and is now black. The bikes battery was flat when I tried to start it in the showroom and they charged it and drop tested it and said it was fine (don't know if that can be related in any way). Where should I begin looking for the cause of this issue? The bike is under warranty but thought I would try and find the issue and save another day of my time wasted. Thanks Richie
  7. ManyThanks all, I'm liking the look of the Tuzo for the money. I'm sure it will do for the coming summer and too expensive to take a punt on. Cheers for the info
  8. Newbie needing the hive mind suggestions. I am just about to take delivery of a BMW F700gs and plan to use it mostly for the work commute and a little touring. I'm looking a textile jacket and either trousers or over-trousers. Budget is no more than £150 for each. I know it's a small budget, but any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance! Richie
  9. As said, most policies will be limited by uk market value of the vehicle. That means, if market value is £1000 and it will cost €2000 to repatriate, they will say no. They won't pay the first €x and let you pay the rest, it's just a flat no, your on your own. Also, the vehicle must not be beyond "economic Repair" The only exception I know of is RAC Comprehensive Plus cover which has no such limitation. It also has unlimited call outs abroad. Whatever you chose, read the T&C's fully. Most people don't and then shout and cry about what a victim they are. Take responsibility.
  10. I work in insurance too. Your forgetting that none of these companies are charities or not-4-profit organisations. They are trying to make as much profit as they can. Their algorithms used to calculate renewal premiums will take into account how long you've been with them and will know if you ever call to challenge the price. Those who just renew without question will see the biggest hikes each year. Their retention team will have a minimum price they can go to but they do have the ability to reduce your price.
