Hi. I was in the same position, passed in Sept2019.. I bought a 2019 Honda CBR650R in the end, to build up some no claims. Its plenty fast enough and looks ace. I also looked at Triumph Street Triple RS, and Kawa ZX6R, and the Yamaha R6. All were very expensive to insure, even with a garage. Having your license for one year brings the insurance down (I tried it on a comparison site). fyi - I had quotes similar to yours. My CBR is £350 per year. Cannot complain at all.

I passed my test Sept 2019. I purchased a Yamaha MT125 to practice on.. sold it on as soon as I passed. Great bike for a learner, looks smart too. I test rode a Street Triple RS.. and its a truly wonderful bike. But the lack of a fairing just made it difficult on fast dual carriageways, espescially if you are carrying some speed. Around 80% of my riding is on fast A roads, so a naked bike is useless for me (even though I admit they are a giggle on a B road!). I bought a 2019 Honda CBR650R in the end. Great for getting some experience, and fast enough for now. Cheap insurance too. My advice.. whittle it down to a few bikes you like, then go test ride them. Hoping to actually get to use the damn thing once the lockdown lifts, for now its just a garage ornament sadly.

Something inside the engine has catastrophically failed. Clutch may be the likely issue, or something else.. but that will send shards of metal through the entire engine. Get another (used) engine and throw it in there. I wouldn't bother opening it up, unless you are curious as to what exactly failed. Rebuilding it will be a task for a professional, but may not be financially viable.
