Back to the main subject
Just ordered the 2 springs for the stand.
Now just need everything to arrive and get it fitted.
Meanwhile will still.havr to clean the underside of the engine and whatever more I will find needing a clean. Apply more ACF50 and put the fairings back with the new bolts.
That's a job for the weekend and evenings.

Found a blasting company that will do it for around £15
Not even going to think twice about it.
The guy even said would paint it for me. Just not sure what paint he will be doing but I'll discuss it on Wednesday when I go there
Some works aren't worth the trouble of trying to do manually when a machine can do it faster, better and cheaper than me spending 3 hours and have it half done

One thing often overlooked that I find really helpful.
Gel insoles for your boots.
You can get them very cheap and worth every penny.

More like never done anything to it since 2015

Relax.
Most times that's due to constant tension.

Being someone who worked in water industry since 2008 I can tell you that the article is a load of pish
Birds shit on the water, ducks and swans swim in it with all the things they get to do.
In the whole of the UK no water enters the network without proper treatment and at least 4 filtration methods before leaves the works.
Water companies down in England always come up with the most moronic excuses for not doing their job properly.

It is apparently to do with the granite used locally, due to availability. It is a hard wearing stone. I experienced increased tyre wear both times I did the NC500.
Granite is definitely a factor in tyre wear.
Very poor quality of tarmac is another issue.
Then you add the twisted roads that you really ride probably a wee bit faster than would be wise to do...

Just like my mates bike who we tell him it's an expensive ornament
A pair of £300 shoes move and are nothing more than an ornament

For one bike you're better off with included in the insurance policy.
Make sure you read all the t&C's because the cheaper option usually only covers 10 miles rescue and you're stuck again in a different location.
I've used green flag and they are really good.
When the shadow burnt the VR they just pick it up and dropped at my door.
Most the brokers will tease you with a rubbish breakdown cover and will add another £50 or £100 quid for a decent one.
Age of the bike also plays a role. not all covers are valid for older bikes.

I haven't been on the west coast lately, do I can't really tell.
I would guess the A roads will still be in a decent condition.
It would be the road from Ullapul to Durness that maybe you need to be weary because isn't a A road.
The road from Durness to thurso have amazing views

I would make sure you know the condition of the roads.
Last time I went of a small part of the NC500 the roads were in miserable condition.
Forget about Applecross, used to be a magnificent place to visit and bow is a chain of potholes.
Some eejit thought was a good idea to advertise the NC500 and it's beautiful scenery. Unfortunately councils and whichever agency is responsible for the maintenance of the tarmac couldn't care less about it.
Be prepared for expensive B&B.
Although midges are free and you're welcome to take as many as you want

Progress so far
Used rust converter on places I can't remove rust with the disk or steel brush.
Applied the zinc primer to cleaned parts.
Where metal is pitted I used chemical cleaning.
The side stand was probably the worst part.
Unfortunately acid doesn't really work on iron as much as in steel so lots of brushing, sanding and disk.
Tomorrow will show the 3 bits with nickel plating
The 2 springs for the stand and the axle bolt.
Picture with the green liquid is for the plating
