  1. I had a major spill on the A1 in torrential rain at, ahem, 65-70 mph (officer). Not totally my fault as a car and trailer switched lanes on me with no indication, I panic braked and lost it. Anyway: I was wearing Richa textile gear and it performed flawlessly. Some pieces of gravel came through a glove and I bruised my elbow and foot but that was all. The A&E doctor was amazed at how well the textile gear had protected me. Pity the paramedics had to cut it all up! I replaced it with Richa again (but a nicer design).
  2. If anyone is unsure about cornering and countersteering you really should do the i2i MC1 course. It has transformed my cornering and boosted my confidence 300%.
  3. Cool My i2i MC1 is tomorrow. Got to wait until September for MC3 though.
  4. I think I kind of have that problem. My tyre chicken strips have begun to wear off on the left side of the rear tyre but the right side is untouched! I'm hoping that the i2i courses I've booked will help improve my confidence.
  5. I'm heading over there quite early with some folk from the sv650.org forum. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=165820 If you see my yellow curvy SV say hello!
  6. Mine's been broken since I bought it last July, the problem is that the cable to the switch thingy came loose and caught on the drive sprocket, wearing away the cable. I ought to get round to fixing it but it doesn't really bother me.
  7. I've got the tailpack. It's been on my bike pretty much constantly since I passed my test 7000 miles ago. I use it to carry my lunch and normal trousers to work. It does the job. I lost the rain cover early on, somewhere on the 75-mile journey to my parents'. I lost one of the bungees and I replaced it with some shorter ones because most of the time it's not very full. At first I thought the bungees were a faff (the instructions say you must use them, they don't show them on the photos, funny eh) but I've got used to using them. They've put a few scratches on the bike though. The zip pull on the rear pocket is like a normal zip pull dipped in rubber to make it bigger and the rubber bit has nearly torn off. I hope I can attach a bit of cord (or insulated solid core wire, my usual zip pull fix) so it remains easy to open. It's not a luxury item but it does the job for not too much money. I've also got a tank bag (Buffalo) but I only use it on weekends away when I need extra storage or if carrying a pillion. I prefer the tailpack as it is out of the way behind me.
  8. I've been commuting to work since I passed my test last July. I have a tailpack that I transport my sarnies and normal trousers in and I simply get changed at work. I leave a pair of trainers there so I don't have to wear my boots all day.
  9. My SV650S is at the local dealer getting some BT023s fitted tomorrow (can't pick it up until Saturday though ). I mentioned that I commute 60 miles a day and that the rear had flattened off and they recommended the BT023, which agreed with the little net research I had done. We'll see if they're worth raving about - they'll hopefully be much better than the well-worn stock SV Mezelers (sp?) .
