someone might have been looking for this in the 'tried and tested' section been thinking about getting some of these for a while now, so cheers for the review, i most probably will go with these as i didn't want to fit heated grips. be good to know how you rate them after a months use?!

Google Squire locks, much cheaper and just as good (if not better) in my opinion!

depends if you have a new style visor that fits the max vision pinlocks... my new shoei helmet came with one of these, and it goes so close to the edge of the visor i can hardly notice it at all compared to the pinlock i had in my Arai.

for reasons i won't bore you with here, i ended up buying an Airhawk 2 seat cover last week... so here are my thoughts, pros -really easy to put on the bike/set up -very comfortable -cuts out bike vibrations -easily adjustable via an air valve located at the back of the seat cons -takes a few rides to get used to it, and get the right amount of air in (tip - under inflated is better than over inflated) -have to take it off when you leave your bike parked up, as it would be very easy to steal -you look a bit of a n0b having a seat cushion on your bike if you're in the market for a bit of added comfort on long distance journeys, or commutes, then i'd give this a good look. It comes with some repairable patches in case you get a puncture, has a year warranty, but i would say one of the best things with this is the 30 day guarantee, where if you don't get on with it or it just doesn't live up to your expectations, you can send it back and get a full refund.

I have a pair of spada gloves that I bought a few years back, they were ok. Shame to hear about your suit. But at the same time, it is good to hear an honest review. Weise is really good gear from what I hear so I'm sure you'll be fine!

gore-tex boots, or some sealskinz socks, or the cheapest option, wrap your feet (over your socks) in cheap plastic carrier bags

everyone goes through this on their bike if they use it in all weathers... i think most people will tell you that they're still searching for the 'holy grail' of wet weather gear, that is: waterproof, breathable, lightweight, only one layer, affordable, etc etc i know you said you don't want another layer to put on, but a waterproof over jacket works very well, especially if it is the type that doesn't have a zip up front (you have to put it on over your head). Bit of a faff, but i stay completely dry on my top half when wearing this. Only downside is it's not breathable, so can't wear it during the summer, as i end up just as wet from sweating as i would have not wearing it in the rain in summer! your only other option is to shell out on some expensive gore-tex gear in my opinion... guy i park up to at work, has a rukka jacket he's had for about 6 years now and he wears it every day commuting all year round, and doesn't get wet. Also, if you do buy a gore-tex jacket and you do get wet, there is a life time guarantee with it, so you can just send it back. if i had all the money in the world to spend on motorbikes and motorbike gear, i'd probably get the top of the range Rukka two piece textile suit, but you're looking at spending nearly £2,000. But then again, if i had all the money in the world, i wouldn't be living in this country where it rains all the time!!!

Should say that I don't carry the 16mm chain around with me, it's a lock for home. I've got a 14mm squire chain for at work. Xena do good disc locks from what I remember.

Google elitesecurity they do loads of really decent motorbike security chains, locks etc. I've got one of their 16mm Protector chains, it's a beast!

2 years on and still going strong, no problems with any zips, and leather is still looking good. A quick clean with a baby wipe once in a while, and a bit of that nikwax leather waterproof and jobs a goodun.

If I had the money I'd be getting a full Rukka suit! So I can understand spending out on nice gear if you can afford it. Some of that heine gericke gear is really good.

first ride in to work this morning with the new lid... really pleased with it. Noise levels better than my arai, but not massively so, just a bit quieter. What impressed me most was the visor, and the max vision pinlock! the viewing area is so big, unless i go down in to a bit of a tuck, i can't see the top of the helmet. It really is quite impressive... i know that other helmet manafacturers have gone down this route, and what a good route it is, much better viewing area, noticeably so. i think one slight negative for this helmet is the fact that you can't adjust the venting on top of the helmet, unless i just haven't figured it out yet (and before you say anything, blokes don't read instructions!!

Ok, so some of you probably know that i've been looking for a new helmet for a while now, well i finally ended up buying a Shoei xr1100. Pure and simple it was THE best fitting helmet that i tried on bar none! And i tried on almost every other brand of helmet out there. Got it through today, and i think it looks great, got it for £289 which is not bad considering at full retail they go for 419 ish. Will give an update after i've used it tomorrow, but so far very impressed, especially with the weight. As i'm lucky enough to fit a size small, the weight is only around the 1300g mark, so very light. Another positive for me, especially moving away from Arai, is the visor changing mechanism... OH MY GOD, how simple could it be, i can now get the visor off and on again in less time than it takes me to find the bloody pins on the Arai (if you have owned an Arai you will know what i'm on about, it's fiddly to say the least). there are some of these going on ebay for around 250, but they are very limited graphics, and while i'm not really too fussed what it looks like, i took the hit and paid a bit extra for the one i wanted. and oh yes, it comes with the pinlock visor insert for free! bargain (but the monkey pictured wasn't included

Ok, looks like I might try and watch some of the later seasons after all! Might even try and watch them all over again in order. Smeg head... Always wanted a Smeg fridge because if red dwarf!

i'd do a quick search on the forum, this has come up lots of times before. however, if you're really worried, then perhaps try and find someone who can check it professionally for you. such a difficult decision though, as there may be absolutely nothing wrong with your helmet, but at the same time, something could have cracked... personally, i'd probably replace my helmet if i crashed in it and it hit the deck.

So how you getting on with this? Are you finding it a hassle getting on and off/attaching it to the bike?

Still cheaper than a carbon Arai Even if it was affordable I don't think I'd get one, would put me off i reckon. Still, would like to try it out just to see what it's like
