  1. My mum's got induction hobs and they're amazing. Boil water in no time at all and don't get hot.....it's a very weird experience being able to take the pan off the hob and sticking your hand straight onto it without getting burnt.
  2. "I'm not racist," I said to my mate, "but I prefer my sandwiches cut diagonally." "...but that's not racist," he said. "Exactly," I replied. "I said I wasn't racist."
  3. I've got to replace my headstock bearings as they're getting a bit notchy. I have always used ball race bearings before but someone has recommended that i try tapered bearings as they're easier to fit and last longer. I've never used tapered bearings before so is there any benefit to them fitting or handling wise?
  4. Riding up the A1 the other day I saw a car that had both it's wing mirrors folded in. Just goes to show how much that person uses them! The sad thing is that when I got level and pointed to her mirrors all I got in reply was the finger.
  5. Recent news states that North Korea have expressed the intention to invade Japan. I'd like to take this opportunity to be the first one to wish them luck with the storming of Takeshi's Castle.
  6. I just found out my brother is a mime artist. He kept that quiet!
  7. Yeah I thought it was a bit harsh as well, it was a perfect opportunity for the copper to educate him as to what he should have done rather than give him points at such an early stage of his driving career, but I guess he just caught the officer on a bad day or gave him backchat - which he says he didn't. I've always drilled it in to him how dangerous and stupid it is to use the phone while driving and he listened but still got caught out. We have dashboard cameras in our trucks at work and we've always been told (to prevent needless disciplinary processes and potential sacking) that if you have to use the phone you take the keys out of the ignition and make sure they can be seen by the camera as my employer has been known to hugely overreact if they want to get rid of you - we're not even allowed to use bluetooth headsets when driving.
  8. The law states that you can't use a mobile phone while in control of a vehicle, being sat in it with the keys in the ignition is enough to be in control of the vehicle (my 18 year old cousin just got slapped with 3 points for pulling into a bus stop with the engine off to take a call).
  9. There's a short article in the current MCN about a police operation in London that targeted drivers using their mobiles whilst driving and they didn't have enough coppers there to stop everyone they saw doing it.
  10. Cool, thanks guys. I just thought to check ebay and there's loads on there. Thanks for your help.
  11. The front brake light switch on my gsxr 600 k4 has given up the ghost and I remember reading somewhere about hydraulic switches as a replacement. Is there any advantage of these over electrical ones (I assume there's less to go wrong with a hydraulic switch)? I've had a look at a couple of sites - wemoto and demon tweeks among others - but can't seem to find anything, can anyone point me in the right direction for places to get a double banjo bolt with built in switch? Thanks
  12. What's the best stuff to use to lubricate a clutch cable and the best way to do it? I vaguely remember reading somewhere that fork oil was the best stuff to use but I'm not sure if I'm recalling that correctly. Thanks
  13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H7-6000K-HID-XENON-CONVERSION-KIT-HONDA-CBR1100XX-BLACKBIRD-CBR1000RR-FIREBLADE-/320878683404?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4ab5dc250c Retrofitted this to my gixxer on the dipped beam, despite it saying they're for the blackbird. Brilliant mod, I don;t need the main beam anymore! All it's got is a replacement bulb and a balast box about the size of a packet of cigarettes, it's got quite a bit of wire as well so you're unlikely to find the bulb won't reach the headlight once you've found somewhere to store the balast box.

    Brake shudder

Same. Before i did it i looked at the discs and they weren't sitting straight and i thought they were warped. A friend recommended i try turning the rivets and bingo! no more vibrations under braking

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll99/mastodon_1/url1.jpg Not sure i explained it properly but these bits. Make sure you use washers though coz it takes bloody ages to fish the nut out of the rivets if you forget

Have you got floating brake discs? I had a similar problem when i changed my pads which turned out to be partly down to a sticking piston (the previous owner had evidently had problems and rather than overhaul the calipers he just took the dust seals out!) and partly down to the rivets holding the discs to the rotors being gummed up with crap and stopping them floating. If you can get a bolt on the inside of the rivet (if it's a hollow rivet) tighten a nut on to it and give it a few turns and watch the crap come pouring out of it.

I saw a very long infomercial on it the other day and I felt ill just watching it. Does look very good though and i am very tempted by it.
  19. I'm a dumbass, discovered it was because the footpeg was over tightened. Thanks anyway.
  20. On checking my lights all work today i noticed that my rear brake pedal seems to be sticking at the top of it's movement so the brake light is staying on even though no brakes are applied. The movement of the pedal other than that is fine it's just that i need to physically lift the pedal the last 1mm or so to get the pedal to sit how it should and so the brake light turns off. I've tried cleaning the springs in case any gunk on them was the cause but that's made no difference at all and after this i'm at a loss to think what the cause may be. If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated Thanks
  21. Would love to come as it's not far from me, but unfortunately i'll be on the ferry to spain at the time
  22. Heres a joke for all the mind readers out there.
  23. I used to know a traffic copper and he always told me if there was one thing he could change it would be the sentences for causing death by careless or dangerous driving.
  24. A lady approached me in the street and proceeded to tell me a joke. It had all the ingredients of a good joke. Sexual abuse, physical abuse, deprivation, humiliation, pain and suffering, but I didn't quite understand the punchline. Something about a donation?
